I went in for a routine VASER procedure and ended up with a permanent flank scar. This was the surgeon’s fault. Once you decide to do liposuction(lipo) or fat transfer and you discuss it with a doctor you will discover there are multiple methods for the surgery. They are basically either mechanical or thermal. The laser ones all fall into the thermal category. There is a laser probe that is inserted, liquefying the fat, then the operator removes the fat. I went for consulation with multiple doctors and I finally decided to do it with Dr. Oscar Aguirre. The description of how the process worked seemed to make sense. I underwent my procedure of lipo from the flanks in June 2015. Right after the procedure I noticed something was wrong. Two things actually: the skin area of the procedure was red, hot, and tender; there was also deep pain in the procedure area. I thought that was just a transient side effect of the procedure. Wrong! I saw the doctor the next day and he assured me it would go away in a few days. Wrong! He asked to see me every day for the following 2 weeks. He put me on Antibiotics and steroids. I took his advice and went home and followed his regimen. Nothing changed. The redness did not go down and the pain actually increased. The pain was both superficial and deep and it was so debilitating that Advil/tylenol made no difference. I had to be on Percocet or Vicodin for the pain to be tolerated. You can imagine the effect this whole ordeal had on me/my work and my family. Here is the worse news: I am now 10 months after the procedure and the skin discolration is still there. The redness gradually decreaded, but left a huge scar on both flanks. I did not know what to do so I went for a consult with 3 dermatologists and plastic surgeons. All of them agreed that what I experienced was a skin injury/burn resulting from the Vaser probe because of a negligence/error by the Doctor who performed the procedure. As the Vaser probe is inserted to liquefy the fat, it also possesses a lot of thermal energy that it damaged/burned the skin from inside if the operator leaves it there too long. My summer is already ruined and I think I will have to live with this for the rest of my life. He keeps recommending useless creams. As the other reviewer said, they are there to get as much money as possible from you. 4÷21÷2016 update: I got a call today from the office manager of Dr. Aguirre’ office and she informed me they were prepared to offer me a settlement but she«just saw» my review and now they cannot offer me anything because of how I basically practiced my first ammendment rights! She also said«I have forwarded your file and online reviews over to our attorney,» in a very threatening manner! Pls be fully informed while working with this practice.

From the time I went in for my initial consultation through my surgery and inpatient stay and then to my 6 week post op visit, I was treated with gentle compassion with the utmost of professionalism(as well as a tad of humor) from Dr. Aguirre, his PA, Shauna, and his entire staff. He has a first rate team of highly skilled and friendly gals who make you feel welcomed from the moment you walk in the door. The fact that I recovered so quickly from 4 surgeries at the same time, only serves to re-enforce the fact that Dr Aguirre is a brilliant, skilled physician.
