First off, there’s nothing wrong with 3 stars. Knitting supplies are rather limited in the area, so Cornucopia definitely fills a void. Yarns are solidly a few steps above what’s carried at the local box craft stores, but probably won’t satisfy the needs of a yarn snob. Rather, most yarns are mid-range in price and quality. The owner is really helpful and is always eager to tell shoppers about new patterns and yarns. It’s a small store, so stock can be limited. If you’re looking for yarn for a larger project you may not find it, but they will happily do a special order for you and have your yarn fairly quickly. One of my favorite things about this store is that the owner seeks out American made fibers. She has a decent selection of Kraemer yarns which make for reasonably priced projects.

I found the service to be top-notch. I stopped here from out-of-town and they were very kind to send me a pattern they didn’t have in stock. They trusted me to send them a check afterwards.

The folks at this shop were nice and there prices were reasonable, but the selection was terrible. For several of the yarns I was interested in they only have a few colors and often did not have enough skeins on hand to make a whole sweater.

For all you knitting aficionados in the southern tier, Cornucopia Yarn Shop is a place you need to check out. I don’t knit nor plan on starting, but I still enjoyed the store. They have a far greater selection than your chain arts and craft store(aka, Michaels or A.C. Moore) and their prices are right on par. Plus there is your friendly weekend knitters group there to help you make selections. Wifey was very impressed and picked up all sorts of crazy yarn for her baby sweater projects. We’ll definitely be back. Better selection. Good prices. And the warm fuzzy feeling of supporting your local businesses.
