Plaza Lock & Key of Encino

My wife and I have been using Plaza Lock & Key of Encino for over 20 years. Joel used to come out and Maria worked in the office. After Maria died, I have been seeing Adrian come over for my work. I had a bent deadbolt on my front door and called to get this replaced. I was charged for the deadbolt, charged to rekey it, and was charged $70 for labor and $65 for the trip charge. Adrian told me my charge would be $187.56 as he was finishing up the paperwork. I handed him a check as he handed me my copy of the paperwork and left. He made a hasty getaway before I could finish reading the charges. There was a $45 charge to replace the batteries in my Wyze lock -- something he was not asked to do as I regularly do it myself and he used MY batteries that he grabbed out of my hand as I was trying to put them in myself. Evidently Joel and Maria did not teach Adrian not to steal and rip off a 77 year old senior. The lady who answered the phone and the bookkeeper both agreed that I should not have been charged this and they said they would send me a refund check for the $45. Four weeks later and the check never came. USE PLAZA LOCK & KEY OF ENCINO ONLY IF YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF!!!

I needed a key made quickly and was so happy to find this place very close to my house! It took a couple of minutes and I didn’t have to go all they way to OSH. I’m glad to know they are there for my lock and key needs.

Fantastic! I locked myself out of my house. I tried watching lock picking YouTube Videos on my phone. However, I couldn’t do it. So I clicked onto Unilocal,and called Plaza Lock & Key. A very professional, kind, and skilled locksmith had my door open in 3 minutes.
Reasonable price, especially given the outstanding quick service!

$ 15.00 Dollars to Cut a automotive key! $ 30.00 for two! Really when Lowes even Walmart charges maybe $ 5.00 to cut a Automotive Key and then charges $ 85.00 to program the keys when the Nissan DEALER charges $ 65.00 for Both what a rip off and took advantage of my daughter on this transaction. Thats BS. Over paid by $ 40.00 Thats shameful.
Ill never use these people ever rather drive 50 miles to someone who is honest and will not take advantage of people. BEWARE… and yeah Im pissed.

I have use them for many years. On two different houses, and in an office. They come promptly they are very efficient and have very very nice customer service.

Now that I’ve found them, I will be staying with them for life!!! So trust worthy, so friendly, fast honest service. They have a great selection of fun keys to choose from and reasonable prices. The locksmiths are very handsome men too! lol

This is the best key maker ever! They are the nicest people in Encino. They are in a little shopping center on the corner of woodley and ventura. Ita a very friendly group of shops as well. Everyone makes you feel really welcomed. This lock shop also travels to your location.

Highly recommend. Prompt And professional. Joel went out of his way to assist me with all the fixes.

Joel the owner use to work for us at Mulholland Security Centers in Studio City, 15 years ago or so. I know him and his wife and simply nice people. Joel used to be a pretty good technician so I know he will do the job right for you.

ive lived in encino a total of 53 years. my family owns a 3RD generation
” real estate investment firm” right down the road from plaza lock and key.
maria and joel are family to me. theyre kids are too.
if anything, they are the most complete and competant of all locksmiths ive used in the san fernando valley. and i love them. DONT HESITATE TO USE THEM.

I’m completely amazed by this place. I have used their service twice. The first time, they were great and efficient. The second time, the service was out of this world. I needed to replace the batteries on two of my car keys. After opening the car keys, the lady realized that she didn’t have the batteries. I ran over to a nearby Walgreens, bought the batteries and brought them back. She helped me put the batteries in and put the keys back together then said she wouldn’t charge me a penny for the work.
I wish more people in the world would be easy and friendly like the lady who works here. :-)

When I moved to a new place, I called them to come change my locks. They told me on the phone it would be $ 65.00. Two guys came who were very nice. But, then they started telling me that they recommended a different lock which would cost $ 300 or somewhere in that range. I asked them why no one told me that on the phone. They said because I probably didn’t ask. I asked one of the guys to call his manager. I told the manager that I didn’t appreciate the surprise of not being told before he sent the guys out that there would be other options. He said it would not be his responsibly to tell everyone unless they ask, and that is why he had the guys offer it to me when they came out to change my locks.
It’s so stupid. Because had I known, I might have done the more expensive locks if I had a chance to research it and look into it more. What a waste of time.

Spoke on the phone.
They were at the house in 35 minutes.
Spent an hour repairing my lock rather than selling me a new one.
Price seemed very fair.
I’m very happy.
Update have been back for garage gate remotes. They were super helpful and did the programming for me.

Had key cut at this place near my house — less than $ 4, Yeah!
I hung on to their card and when my neighbor locked herself out of the house there were here within minutes. Thanks for the excellent service!

I just moved into a new house in February and had to have all of my doors re-​keyed. I found Plaza Lock and Key on Angie’s List and decided to give them a try. Their prices were competitive and even lower than the other companies I called. The locksmith (Joel), arrived on time and was very friendly and professional. He re-​keyed all of my locks and even taught me how to re-​program my garage door! Who does that? I will definitely use them again.

I have been using Plaza for a little over a year now and I’m so happy with their service! I’m on the board for a condo HOA and we’ve got a lot of locks, gates, keys, etc. and Joel and the Plaza team NEVER let us down!
They’re friendly, courteous, and do good work. I don’t know how their prices compare, but I really don’t care. When it comes to the safety and security of my home, the quality of work is more important to me than saving a couple dollars here and there. (Incidentally, I imagine their prices *are* competitive otherwise our property manager would have told us to consider switching)
Working with different vendors for our association has taught me that it’s HARD to find quality people and work — this is the only company I haven’t had ANY problems with EVER! Now, that doesn’t mean everything is perfect every time they come, but whenever we’re not 100% happy with something, they come right back out and make it right (which is, I feel, all you can really ask of a company since no one’s perfect 100% of the time).
Their work is good quality, the people are wonderful — I can’t recommend Plaza highly enough! They even will come out on holidays if you need them to! 5+++ stars!
