The star rating I gave is ONLY to get this posted. I cannot rate it, quite honestly. because of the following… I wanted to try one of their sandwiches and then review this place, but it is CLOSED… as in FOREVER. Not closed for today… but as in OUTOFBUSINESS. The very generic and allegedly French(with no name) bakery next door told us they are out of business. The signs and posters still suggest Gilisa’s is there, but when you look inside, it looks like a ghost town. Very strange. Does anyone else know?

What a treasure! After reading about Gilisa’s on Jen’s List, my family and I stopped in to pick up a few things and ended up ordering sandwiches and eating them there. Gil and Lisa are so accommodating in making sure that you have the best sandwich and all to your specific liking. The portions are healthy and the quality of the meats, breads and cheeses really is something to be proud of. While it isn’t just down the street from us, we will make the trip(it isn’t all that far when you get the quality you get there!) any time. The cookies — OHMY! Little tip: purchase a few(like a dozen) and then keep them in your freezer and they are yummy with your coffee or tea. Don’t miss this sweet and delicious nugget on the Boulevard.

I work in a bank nearby Gilisa’s in Tarzana, and our associates have ordered a couple of times delicious sandwiches, salads, and omelettes. They deliver in a prompt manner, and Gilisa’s food is so fresh and tasty with many healthy ingredients to choose from. They deliver free of charge and their prices are so appealing. I would recommend this new little deli/market to all!

I can’t say anything that the previous review has not! This place is both easy on the wallet and tum. I, personally, dig their roast beef that Lisa roasts in house, as well as the vegetarian sandwich. She uses the freshest ingredients and is quite generous with her portions. In a pinch, I think this is a great alternative to stopping by Gelson’s or Whole Foods on the way to the Bowl. All I can say is that you should try this place. Your mouth will be quite happy.

Gilisa’s is a little-known treasure in Encino. The place doesn’t look like much and it’s in a non-descript mini-mall, but the food and service are top-notch. The owners, Gil and Lisa, are always there behind the counter and are as warm and friendly as can be. Lisa worked at Whole Foods and as a caterer for years before opening her own place, and she continues to offer food at the same high standards as her previous employ, but without the high prices. Sandwiches are fresh, very generously sized, and a steal at $ 5.99(which includes a drink!). Lisa will add all the toppings you want for the same price, including avocado, roasted peppers, and other«premium» additions you would pay an extra dollar each for elsewhere. She roasts her own chicken and turkey breasts, as well as preparing other meats fresh in house. Lisa also sells her own homemade cookies and pastries and will often throw one in for free. She offers samples of anything and everything in the store, and is happy to customize any way you might want something. Overall, I can’t say enough good things about Gilisa’s. My only criticism is that the place lacks any ambiance, but then it is really just a sandwich counter/deli. There are no tables there, so it’s all about the to-go experience. Please discover this terrific place! We need to support small businesses like this, especially when they are run by wonderful people who care so much about their customers.
