I have been going to this church since 2012. I had been church shopping (casually) for about 10 years as an adult in Los Angeles. I had an Episcopal background growing up. Bethel was not like any other church I had been to. They don’t preach about money. They aren’t caught up in ritual. They are open, casual, warm, inviting, accepting, and a blessing to the community. They aren’t perfect, but they seek to follow Jesus and offer up grace at all costs. I’m proud to call Bethel my church. You are welcome. All are welcome. Come connect with God here in a relevant, compassionate environment.

I am a Buddhist who came from Christian roots, and is open to Christianity. This place accepted me and my family whole-​heartedly. One of the main attractions for me is the Pastor (Rustin). He is very down-​to-​earth, knowledgeable, supportive, can always steer you in the right direction if he can’t help, and gives a great sermon (10 – 11:30 on Sunday). The music is also good, with professional musicians in the business in LA.
Anyway, have a look for yourself, and meet some of the people. I am very happy here for me and my family.

This review might be unique in that it doesn’t discuss the church as a place of worship, but as a theater venue. My friends who run The Griot Theater Company have staged their first two shows here and it’s been a great experience (I worked the box office in the lobby.) Many thanks to the church for offering up the space as a venue. It has a nice room that is the perfect size for small theater performances, and can be changed up either to have a stage or be performed as a theater in the round. It has a peaceful little courtyard where they set up concessions. When I first heard the name, I thought it was a synagogue (only heard «Beth El»), but with all the crosses, yes it’s a church. :) At first it’s a little hard to find the entrance, so know that the parking lot is off of Encino Ave.
