Magnificent quality, and an amazing hole-in-the-wall with the perfect authentic divey Japanese feel. The owner is a top-notch sushi chef from Japan. It’s worth the $$$ for this level of quality, I promise! This place is truly a gem, and one of my all-time fave sushi places whenever I’m near this part of L.A.

Solid sushi. Always pretty good and always friendly. I’ve never had a bad experience here– only one piece of sashimi I didn’t like the taste out of about 6 trips total. Great lunch specials.

My best friend and I have been coming here for years! I LOVE sushi and truly think this place has the best sushi in the valley. Saito, the owner, is always so friendly. He greets us by first name when we walk in and always remembers what we love on the menu. I highly recommend this restaurant. It’s the best! Be sure to try the white fish sushi and the popcorn rock shrimp tempura!

Sushi was ok but the sushi chef(owner) overcharged me. He let my friend order half orders of sushi. But when we got the bill, it was ridiculous. Close to $ 150. for two people. An example, which was done several times was is if the full price of 2 pieces of sushi was $ 10. he would charge $ 9. for one piece. Crazy! Anyway wanted to let people know before they decide to go.

This is a tiny sushi restaurant off of Ventura Blvd in a tiny area of a strip mall. It’s very time. The service was okay but not great. Our sushi tasted mediocre. I ordered the green salad but the dressing had a very funky taste to it. Our meal ended up costing 50 $. I am aware sushi in LA is usually pretty expensive but most the time it’s worth the price.

Nothing in my mind beats 4 on 6. My sons when the come into town will actually not eat sushi anywhere else until they come here. They’re biscotti is a must to order. They are no dive, they have a really nice clean, and very modern looking establishment. The fish is so fresh. I always enjoy their sushi lunch, and lately I have been enjoying their spicy trio bowl. I crave really fresh fish, not some fried roll. I was their customer number 214 years ago, and I still enjoy them as much today!

If you have allergies keep away from this place. I am food and safety inspector for County of Los Angeles, and I have shellfish allergies. Very bad food safety. The chefs touch fishes with raw hands and no gloves. I notified the sever immediately upon my arrival regarding my food allergy and I was told that they can accomodate, She said no problem and I placed my order. Well after eating sashimi salad, I placed another order and the waitress said«sorry since you have food allergy we can not serve you.» Basically very rude chef, very very bad customer service. Think twice before going to this restaurant!!!

I have eaten here a few times, the service is average but the fish/sushi gets an A+. I did go in here on Valentines day one year, made sure to go really early to beat the crowd. Was told there were no seats available since we did not make reservations, mind it the place was still empty no patrons. My date pledges not to ever go back, but I do since I work across the street and the sushi is better than Katsuya IMO. I would definitely return and refer other sushi enthusiast to this joint.

I don’t understand how this place has such good reviews. Maybe we came on a bad night. But the sushi was not as good as most places. I guess I knew as soon as I tasted the ginger(which I usually love and have to ask for second helpings) that something was wrong. The ginger tasted as if it was in the early stages of spoilage. At first I thought, is this pickled ginger? And when I asked my boyfriend he said it was unusually spicy. But thought it was fine. Normally I only order sushi. Salmon, yellowtail Belly, albacore belly, halibut, Spanish mackerel, Amber jack, scallops. Oh scallops are my favorite!!! And today when I took a bite of the scallop carpaccio I couldn’t believe it. It wasn’t my usually face of absolute bliss that I was making but one of confusion and sadness. On top of that, the sushi came with a dab of wasabi(which I normally LOVE and think it’s a sign of good sushi) but again and again that dab would be a blob that made my eyes water and even cleared my boyfriends constant congested nose. Nothing I ordered was as delicious as usual and it made for a rather painful experience. The service and staff however were great and for that reason I gave it one more star. Unfortunately, we won’t be back. But like I said I hope we came on an off night because they sure seem to have a good amounts of regulars.

wow Ive known about this place and driven past it hundreds of times but never checked it out. always went to Katsu-Ya across the street and assumed this was where you might go if you didnt want to wait or were without a reservation at katsuya. Im sorry that I thought this because in many ways this out of the way, hole in the wall type place is superior to katsuya! Very authentic, high quality sushi with a genuine and experienced staff. I had an excellent sushi dinner with many things I had never tried before. when I am in Encino I will certainly check out 4 on 6 again. sorry it took me so long to finally discover it!

The sushi is decent but definitely not as fresh as many places on Ventura Blvd(particularly Studio City). The service and quality of fish does not warrant a $$$ atmosphere rather a $ or $$ at best. I believe their prices are not too expensive either as we ordered a decent amount for 4 people and the bill was only $ 200. Their crispy rice/biscotti was hard/over cooked.

Horrible experience on my birthday with my brother. Went in and saw a limited selection of sushi, with no specialty rolls. Asked for a baked salmon roll and recieved a horrible smelling something.

Always fabulous. It’s expensive when you do the Chef’s Special, but that’s the way to go if you can!

This place could leave you speechless. I can go on and on about this place but ill keep it short. Go there, get whatever you want, everything is delicious. The sushi chef is amazing, the way he treats the fish is elite which makes the sushi that much better. the biscoti is what you want, the lobster biscoti was good but id rather save the money get the tuna one and get a different item on the menu. the house roll is awesome, a little pricey but you are talking about absolute quality sushi. Sushi as in amazing fish, not as in a good roll with a good mayo sauce, no sushi as in you respect the fish, the taste, and the cut of it.

Saito San’s sushi is THEBEST. After eating sushi across the country, this is still my favorite«back to home» sushi spot. My friend used to work for him as a chef, said their ingredients are just as fresh as you can get. Great flavor comes from both the food itself and the attitude the chef put into it. Saito San has both. Every piece is made with love and care. Traditional and creative in his own way. This is a place for someone who can appreciate real Japanese style sushi and enjoy waiting for the rewards. If you want more fun but good food for your money or don’t have time to wait, go to Groyo Groyo down by White Oak.

I have lived nearby forever but this was my first visit to 4 On 6 and now I’m wondering how I missed this gem for so long! Upon entering, the first thing I noticed was the gorgeous wood bar that’s so different from the stale surroundings at other sushi bars. Chef Fumi took care of me and he is awesome! He’s friendly, funny, easy to talk to and he consistently delivered gorgeous and well prepared plates to me. The food was sensuous to look at and delicious on the palate. A lot of the fish is wild caught so the quality is super fresh. I had Tuna carpaccio — Tuna sashimi topped with olive oil, lemon juice, rock salt, black pepper and pink peppercorns. Every bite was packed with flavor. Then I had seared Albacore sashimi served salsa style. My favorite dish was the perfectly prepared and plump black cod. I tried live sweet shrimp for the first time. It wasn’t my thing but I’m glad I finally experienced it. I had such a relaxing and enjoyable meal at 4 On 6, I can’t wait to go back. There’s plentiful free parking in the lot which is a big bonus. Prices at 4 on 6 are higher than most sushi places along Ventura Blvd., but the quality is top notch.

Can’t say enough good things about sushi chef Saito & his Gang. Each experience, exceptional EVERY time; from his chilled tofu custard topped with chocolate and flecks of gold, to lunchtime bento boxes, to a rare celebratory treat that is the banana tempura and black sesame ice cream… you may wonder why you hadn’t ventured out to Ventura in Encino sooner. Oh, and did I mention that each and every patron is remembered by Saito, and the conversation is intelligent and lively, surrounded by regular grateful patrons? Oishiii katta dessu! Doh-moooo, Saito-san
