This is a nice area to shop, eat or just walk around. Free easy parking all around the Lumberyard. The weather is great in this area because it’s right next to the beach. The breeze is light and constant. Also there are lots of overhangs so you can walk outside but in the shade. Several good restaurants(pizza, sushi and a Starbucks), ice cream, home improvement store, vape and clothing store.

The Lumber Yard is a nice size shopping plaza with great stores from Blue Ribbon pizza, Lobster West and Lotus Café. Parking can be a little tough and tight but you can find more parking in the back of the plaza. Some of the stores are very Encinitas like some of the specialty stores which are very cool. Just the whole plaza is cool and screams Encinitas. Whenever I’m in the area I make sure to stop by and check out the chocolate shop I believe it’s spelled Chuao.

I typically only go there to watch football, or a playoff game in one of the other sports. It is okay, the service is a bit slow. Prices are not too bad, and food is okay but nothing to write home about. I keep hoping I will like it better, but so far not such much. The people there are nice and there are quite a few TVs to watch the games, but it can get a bit loud in there and hard to have a conversation with people.

The Lumberyard used to be a sleepy shopping plaza that took up many streets in Historic Downtown Encinitas. Although it’s size hasn’t changed, it sure has attracted some great businesses to its collection of specialty shops, restaurants and services. Some of the old places have stayed the course such as Gaffney’s Wine Bar, Encinitas Paper Rose, Magical Child and Beads, Crystals & More, but recently some new comers are really shaping this plaza into an eclectic mix of all things cool and groovy. Some of the newer stores include: Dreamy Bath, Body & Gifts, Nirwana Furniture, migratehome and a great new sexy French Lingerie shop called Douce et Romantique(ooh lala). St Tropez Bakery & Bistro and Meritage Restaurant & Bar also have homes here as well as Starbucks. The center plaza has a beautiful fountain with seating where you can enjoy a meal or coffee, etc. and an area where they hold many musical events such as summer concerts and holiday shows.
