Its a proper cheese steak! I was very excited to check this place out as there aren’t many places that can do a really good cheese steak, well one that taste like home. I am from south jersey, don’t judge me, but the general proximity to Philly makes it a hot bed for quality sandwich shops and particularly cheese steak. Now it’s always a heated debate back home who has the best, and to be truthful it depends on your preference but I can definitely get down with the product that Gaglione Brothers is serving up. For me the most important aspect in any type of sandwich is the bread, for a cheese steak it has to be soft to cradle the meat and cheese yet a hint of crispy on the outside to give it a nice flavor and texture. This place has a damn good roll which is half the battle, check. Everything else is pretty straight forward, they do have the whiz option which is traditional for a philly steak back home. I got the works, however in hind sight, i should have rocked the mushroom. They have a condiment bar that has the peppers that come on the works yet you can save a dollar. I will definitely be back here to get a little taste of home.

Thanks to the gods of Unilocal,I was able to eat an exceptional quantity of food at the new Gaglione location. I got *two* subs, one pizza and one meatball. The two were basically the same – mozzarella and marinara – with the only really difference being the pepperoni in the former and the meatball in the latter. Given that, I slightly preferred the meatball. The real big wins though were the tasty sauce and the much-better-than-Subway bread. I also really enjoyed the excellent thick fries: crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. Summary: Better than sub par.(See what I did there?)

Tried this sandwich shop during a Unilocal event. My daughter is one of the pickiest eaters out there. Plain Jane everything. Meat, cheese and bun is what she wanted and that’s what she got. After devouring a 6″ cheese steak on the way home, she said that was the best sandwich she’d ever eaten! Fast forward to today. We were looking for a snack after picking her up from school. She remembered how much she enjoyed the cheese steak from Gaglione Brothers and off we went. It wasn’t busy, being mid-afternoon so I was able to walk in without dealing with a line or any crowd for that matter. Jeff helped me out at the counter. I mentioned what my daughter wanted, meat cheese bun, but this time, she was ok trying some onions! WOW! Ok, so ordered a foot long cheese steak and Jeff was kind enough to split it into two with one side light onions and the other with the regular amount. ROCKSTAR! I greatly appreciate those who can help with a special order. As he was chopping and mixing the meat on the grill, I ventured over to the condiment bar. The sides they have are simply AMAZBALLS! The grilled marinated red peppers are mouthwatering. The red pepper relish, OUTSTANDING! Traditional dill pickles were SPECTACULAR. Maybe since the other peppers were so freaking delish… Anyway, you simply can’t beat this place for a great sandwich made fresh to order and extremely personable service. Keep on Unilocal’n!

I came here for lunch and it was great! The cashier who took my order was very nice and friendly! She recommended the garlic fries which I loved and I got the Buffalo Chicken since I am not a red meat fan. And the sandwich was delish! I will definitely come back and try their other sandwiches! They have so many options! And even more options on how you can have your fries! Great atmosphere and plenty of parking spots available.

05/02/2016 I have been on the hunt for different cheesesteak places around San Diego County! I’ve had different cheesesteaks from Alex’s Brown Bag«voted the best Philly Cheesesteak in San Diego» to Cheesesteaks made by small sandwich shops. This is by far the best Philly Cheesesteak i have ever had & would recommend it to EVERYONE! It came out nice & hot, the steak was tender & juicy, the cheese was just smothered all over the sandwich & they added nice hint of jalapenos for spice. I added some Tabasco sauce just because I like Spicy foods. Overall quality of the sandwich gets an A+, the staff was friendly & the restaurant was fairly clean when I visited.

Personable staff, prompt service, every cheese steak under the sun, fair prices and great food. I ordered the Baja steak 7.5″ and made it a combo with fries and a drink. The Baja was a cheesesteak with jalapeños mashed in. Added a nice kick. They also have a great pepper sidebar with jalapeños, pepper relish and red cherry peppers and all sorts of tasty accutrements to complete your philly.

Came here immediately after a fun day at the beach. Was craving something filling yet healthy so decided to come back to Gaglione for some damn good cheesesteaks! Finally found a reason to take my wife here. There wasn’t a line and we were able to order and get out food within minutes. I loved being able to fill up on a refreshing drink after laying out and chewing down on a freshly made cheesesteak sand which with freshly fried garlic fries! Not to mention a heaping side of tasty condiments such as crushed red chili peppers and pickles. Enjoyed the AC that was on full blast and the TV showing the NBA Playoffs. The staff were friendly and accommodating. I was glad to learn that there’s now a location at Petco Park. I’ll be there again this week and will be chowing down on a hot sand which. If you’re in the area be sure to drop by here. You’ll love the food.

After returning to Gaglione Brothers first for the Unilocal event last month and then again last weekend on my own, I’m happy to award them the fifth star. I tried the chicken ranch without bacon(no pork for this pig lover!) at the Unilocal event and then decided to switch it up slightly on my return visit by subbing the grilled chicken for chicken tenders. Great decision! The chicken tenders added a bit of crunch to the sandwich and I slightly preferred it to the standard version. After I wrote my previous review, I received an email from someone at Gaglione saying that they could make a hot veggie sandwich for my vegetarian boyfriend. They sauteed the mushrooms and onions and the cheese was melted. He liked it a lot better than the cold version but said I could omit the pickles in the future(oops…my bad!). The garlic cheese fries are a hit and I preferred them to the plain garlic as the cheese seems to help the garlic stick to the fries better. All in all, I think we’ve got our order set in the future and I look forward to returning again!

First off, thanks Gaglione Brothers & Trish S. for arranging an awesome Unilocal Elite Week event! I thought it was a great way to try more of food and really get a good sense of what I liked and didn’t. It was pretty empty because it was just after a rain storm and so we got serviced pretty quickly. The décor is clean and well done for a sandwich shop. There’s even a little corner with family photos of the brothers growing up — which was a nice touch. One a nice day, you can even sit outside, though you’d only have a few of a parking lot. Cheesy Garlic Fries(5 stars!): If you really like enjoy a lot of garlic on your fries, these are for you. I am often disappointed by the lack of flavor at other places but these certainly packed a punch. The thick cut fries were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. They were then tossed in a good amount of oil, seasoning, and minced garlic. And because we got the cheesy ones, they were then DRENCHED in ooeygooey cheesy goodness. Definitely going to need a fork to eat these and a ton of mints afterwards if you plan to talk to others. Cheesesteaks(general — 3 stars): I thought these were good but not great. Unlike the cheesy fries, the cheesesteaks weren’t cheesy enough and were lacking a bit. I like to think each bite should be packed with juicy steak and cheese but these fell a little short. We tried the works and the pizza cheesesteak, which I found a tad weird — creative, but I think I’ll stick to the classics in the future. I think these could also have been stuffed a lot more, the meat to bread ratio was just off. Oh, on the plus side though(and the first I’ve ever seen), they have a pepper bar! Think salsa bar but with multiple different types of peppers to include in your sandwiches. They range from sweet to hot and minced to sliced. It’s really a great way to add a little punch and flavor.

Thank you Gaglione Brothers & Trish S. for a delicious Unilocal Elite event! Corey was friendly & customer service was excellent! Food was even better! Cheez Whiz Steak — Cheese whiz? Yes, please! The meat was juicy, tender, & there was plenty of it! Garlic Fries — Crispy & so flavorful! Cheez Whiz Fries — Cheez Whiz for the win again! Lots of different toppings next to the soda fountains like banana peppers, jalapeños, to customize your cheesesteak to your liking.

Recently tried Gaglione for the first time with my family and we were very satisfied with what we ordered: * Baja Cheesesteak with Jalapenos * Chicken Parmesan sandwich(for the kids) * Garlic Fries * Regular Fries Even though the Baja has jalapenos, I added more from the condiment bar they have located next to the soda machine. The garlic fries were great even though they LOOK like there are tons of garlic on them. Don’t fear, it’s very mild especially if you dip them in ketchup… then hardly noticeable(but I’m a garlic freakazoid). There’s outdoor and indoor seating including a long«high-top» community-type table. My only gripe? Beer. Sure wish they had beer ;)

So I came in for my first time today and was pleasantly surprised. The cheesesteak was heavenly. I’m seriously craving another one right now and I just had one like six hours ago… I also had the Turk which had stuffing and cranberry and turkey in it. The concept of it was good and the flavor profile was spot on, but the turkey itself was a tad dry for my taste. But that’s probably just a matter of preference. The garlic fries smelled divine but unfortunately did not taste as great as they smelled. I wish I could have my car smell like those garlic fries all the time though(you think they’d make a garlic fries air freshener for me? Haha) The service was phenomenal and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Good job!

I came last night and finally got dinner! After participating in the Elite Week event with Unilocal,I was so excited to return and finally pay my dollars and to give this business all my moneys!!! I feel like I’ve had a good sample of all of their sandwiches with Unilocal’s Elite Week event, and so when I came in, I felt like a pro when I placed my order and was also greeted with a «Welcome back.» Such a nice warm feeling when I came. I entered and headed to the register. The three gals working were working hard away at I think 4 different sandwiches for the customers before me, so it took a little time before I placed my order, but not to worry, I knew soon delicious hot and fresh food with be in my tummy! I ordered the 12 inch cheesesteak! This ain’t so Subway 12 inch sandwich… This is a man’s sandwich! Delicious food, mushrooms, onions, and yummy melty cheeses… YASS! I love it all! I ordered a side of fries(Cheesey Garlic) and a soft drink! This was actually too much food for me! I’m a eater! I’m a foodie! NOFOODSHOULDSTOPME… but I was defeated by these sandwiches made amazingly by the gals in the chefs hat! She honestly killed it! Such great customer service from all the people I’ve met here! Everyone is always in smiles and happy to answer any questions for you if it’s your first time. I love the family feel. There’s pictures of what I can only assume is the owner’s family on the walls. Mr. Hart, you have an awesome business and awesome sandwiches! I love that there is only two other locations in the San Diego area, so I’m proud to say, I love supporting small businesses!

Fantastic. The owners are incredibly gracious! I brought the Mushroom Cheesesteak home as recommended to my meat eater and he really enjoyed it. Not something he would drive far for but enjoyed it in all it’s glory. I had the Turkey sandwich with their homemade shredded turkey, bacon, and the normal fixings. The healthiest thing on the menu I was told. Nice sandwich. Their salsa bar is fantastic, sweet red peppers, hot chilis, whole chilis, diced red pepper sauce that is an added bonus to any sandwich! They also have garlic, regular or chili fries to choose from. I wish I would have at least had a bit of the cheesesteak! Next time.

While visiting family in San Diego, we were invited to join a couple of hip San Diego Elites to the Unilocal Elite event at Gagliones. I was excited, because I have been to Gagliones in Point Loma and had a great lunch. While the 2 hipsters got their cheesesteak sandwiches, I opted for the Diego. This is the only reason I gave 3 stars. My sandwich was the best of the bunch, the grilled chicken was tender and piled on a hoagie bun that was toasted. I opted out of the onions. They have a good pepper bar with different choices from mild to hot. Was looking for the pickle chips, but alas that and one other were empty. The spicy pepper relish was very good. On to the matter of fries. My sodium level has reached its limit for the day. They must have taken an entire salt shaker and dumped it on my spuds. Never in my life have I had to take a napkin and wipe off the salt. As for the soda fountain, I put up with the Diet Pepsi, but come on… shouldn’t the flowing liquid been more brown than white? If this is a new location I wish them well and hope they iron out the kinks.

Ordered the 9 inch steak with cheez whiz, garlic fries and drink. The sandwich was flavorful but lacked meat. Every bite had more bread or topping then meat. The fries were just OK, plenty of garlic but lacked crispiness. The servers were not friendly and seemed as if they did not want to be there. I give a three instead of a two because I think they had an off day. Don’t know if I or anyone in my party will be back. Not impressed on my first visit.

Thank You Unilocal North county for letting me try this place out! Philly cheese steaks are a rare commodity in this city and no place gets you closer to the real thing than the Ganglion Brothers. They have 3 locations, Encinitas, Point Loma and Friars Rd. Customer service: awesome staff was super friendly and helped us out with picking out the best cheesesteak. The service was quick and efficient. Food: You have the option of steak or chicken which is great option for the no red meat eaters. I debated over the sandwiches and cheesesteak but in the end I had to try their chicken mushroom cheesesteak. The BF asked what they recommended then the cashier pulls out a sign for the new O’Kelly corned beef sandwich. It’s just like a Reuben sandwich. We also ordered their jalapeño cheese fries. The fries were over seasoned and too salty. However they were perfectly cooked and are thick cut fries. We only ate through half and had to stop. The cheese wiz could only mask so much of the salt. We loved both of our sandwiches. They came out piping hot and they slice the 9″ in half for you which is helpful when trying to handle the sandwich. They also offer a side bar with pickles, peppers, jalapeños, banana peppers. Etc. Don’t forget dessert they offer Tasty Kake’s! Atmosphere: Very clean and well kept. They have a large bar table in the center for large groups or sharing worn other guests. They have tables around the walls and plenty of outdoor seating. It’s located at the corner of a shopping center. Overall the prices are good, and the customer service is great. We’ll be back!

Hot and Fresh! Delicious! I don’t see many Cheesesteak places like this! Right amount of spice and mushrooms, the Works is going to be my go to sandwich here. But if you don’t like that kick you can try the others and if you change your mind they have condiments right next to the soda fountain. Sign up! They have a rewards program that will help save you money in the long run with the deals and coupons that they offer. Awesome! They’re staff were very hospitable and offered great service! They were nice to fix any issues with your order, if there were any. I felt like it was a mini-restaurant! A word of caution. The inside maybe small and have a limited amount of seating when it gets crowded during lunch hours during the weekend! They do have a outside patio though and have a TV for when you’re waiting and eating. Like Levar Burton said you don’t have to take my word it. An experience like this can only be done first hand. mmmm, so *sniff* good!

I think you’d be hard pressed to find a better Philly Cheese Steak sandwich in the area. Hands down? Gaglione Bros. gets it right. Nice menu choices including something for those not wanting steak. I like mine with cheese and grilled onions. They have a nice condiment bar with peppers and other toppings so you can custom make your sandwich just the way you like it. Check out their garlic/cheese fries… wow…so yummy! They will have you coming back for more. Sandwiches come in a variety of sizes too. Prices are good, food is made fresh to order.
