I was very nervous to get a gum graft surgery. I have some anxiety about going to the dentist in general and this was a big procedure. Dr. Kania has a very sweet and comforting demeanor, not to mention she did an excellent job on my surgery. It healed up very quickly and is perfectly healthy. If you are hesitant about oral surgery, I highly recommend Dr. Kania and her staff. They made the process go very smoothly.

I transferred to Dr. Kania from another periodontist in Sorrento Valley area because of the positive feedback of another patient. I had been feeling frustrated by not really understanding the scope of my dental problems and consequently, the treatments seemed excessive. Between the dental jargon and the attempt to «soften the blow» by my dentist and perio, I was left feeling confused and like I was being taken advantage of. Then I went to my first appointment with Dr. Kania. By the end of the first appointment I had a much better grasp of the situation. Dr. Kania is a teacher at heart and her staff follow her example. They have spent extra time answering my questions — and they seem to enjoy it. I also learned from the videos on her website. The other noteworthy thing about Dr. Kania is the culture in her officeplace. The staff exude an appreciation for Dr. Kania that extends above and beyond professional. There is a real atmosphere of kindness and honor here. I am very pleased with Dr. Kania and her staff. I highly regard her and her staff Keith S. Encinitas, CA

I just had a complicated gum surgery by Dr Kania. Her office is very clean, and everyone is incredibly friendly. Dr Kania exceeded my expectations with her thoroughness, kind and gentle bedside manner and attention to details. This experience was so much better– and different in every way– from my last gum graft. I highly recommended her, not just former talent, but also because she is such a kind and caring person it makes surgery stress-free!

Dr Kania was referred to me by my dentist as being the best in the business, which I have to believe. I have been going to Dr Kania for the last 3 years, and had 4(yes four!) gum grafts in different areas of my mouth. Over the years both Dr Kania and her team have consistently been excellent — professional, careful, thoughtful, and almost always punctual(which I find to be rare nowadays with any kind of doctor). You can feel that she is a perfectionist, and loves her job. Those are very important characteristics to me when it comes to my health or work on my body. Personally, I would not go to anyone else.

I was referred to Dr. Kania for a crown lengthening which my dentist hadn’t made seem like it was a big ordeal in my mild case. I go into consult to be told my the dentist(who took about 10 seconds to look at my mouth, no gum check or anything) to tell me there was a chance my tooth would have to be extracted, I HAD to take valium the night before and morning of surgery, it would be about 2.5−3 hours of surgery, it would be 3 weeks of mushy food and it was a pretty serious thing. I was pretty scared, not to mention the way she casually kept saying that the insurance would only pay what they would and I’d still have to pay extra, even though I asked if she was in network, weren’t there negotiated rates? Basically I calculated that I would have paid about $ 600 out of pocket going to her. I ended up going to a much nicer and better periondonttist, who took xrays and did a complete gum check at consultation and that PLUS surgery was only $ 100 out of pocket. That dr. looked at me like i was cookoo when I said I know there’s a good chance my tooth will be extracted and that it’s 3 weeks with mushy foods, etc. He took xrays to give me a very good reassurance that unless something freaky happened no tooth extraction would be needed. Turns out it was a 45 min procedure with just normal numbing, stitches were out in 7 days and after 3 days I was able to chew on the perfectly good other side of mouth, so thankfully I could eat pretty normal the same week. I know from the referral that Dr. Kania is a good surgeon, and they need to inform you about the risks of the surgery, but the bedside manner was awful, I left there feeling very upset and wished it was a root canal instead cause it sounded so serious. The other periodontist made me feel much more comfortable with the procedure and didn’t gauge me on rates, and also had very good reviews. For me it’s important to feel comfortable with the doctor as well as knowing they have skill to perform it correctly.

345 Saxony Rd, #203, Encinitas, CA92024 — New Practice Address Dr. Kania’s new location is wonderful and relaxing, specially with her staff that are caring and considerate. Hard to find in the dental field. Dr. Kania’s medical knowledge surpasses any other perio out there. Her training is exceptual in periodonistry and it shows. If you don’t like denists and dental work, this place is for you. If a denist told you to pull a tooth, make a consultation appointment now or give a call. That is how you can have a true smile for lifetime.
