Well worth a visit. Knowledgable and very friendly staff, gave us great recommendations. Interesting flavor combos and high quality chocolate. Truly excellent price for the quality of the chocolate. The fudgesicles are very intense but so good. It’s literally just a frozen block of very nice chocolate on a stick. A nice treat after a long day outside. The maya and honey one had a delicious and complex flavor profile. Will be back!

OMG!!! I’m still having dreams about this place. I know I can get some of their products in Ann Arbor but I had never seen the store. It’s like Willy Wonkas wife lives here. They have a sample area where you can try many of their chocolates. I kept sneaking back and getting chocolate covered cocoa nibs. The were soooo good. They have a lot of chocolates already packaged up and priced but be sure to ask how much the same item is by the pound. Several items were cheaper if you ordered by the pound instead. We bought truffles, cocoa nibs, and chocolate with smoked sea salt on it. All the products were delightful and the service was great.

The products and people were pure goodness. Try Dianne’s Heart. It has a lot of flavors and textures going on inside.

The chocolate from Grocer’s Daughter was amazing! We stopped here on our way back to Silver Lake after climbing the Sleeping Bear and visiting Glen Lake. We bought 13 truffles/caramels and some salted milk chocolate bark for smores. Every truffle we tried was delicious with the chai truffle being our favorite. The cardamom truffle and Maya caramel were delish too. And the salted milk chocolate bark took our smores to a whole other level! I will admit that we used homemade graham crackers from Zingerman’s, but I“m not sure I can ever eat a «regular» smore again now that I’ve had the gourmet ones. The bark was worth the $ 7 we paid as you get quite a bit. Plus, the bonus is that it’s thin enough that it melts perfectly for a smore(can you tell that I loved them?!). The staff was very helpful and knowledgable and the free samples are much appreciated too. I would highly recommend Grocer’s as a stop on your up north Michigan trip.

Such amazing chocolate! I’ve never encountered basil truffles before. The woman who sold us our chocolates was very knowledgable and generous with samples. They have dairy free chocolates as well!

I don’t know what I can say about this place that hasn’t been said. Great chocolate, lots of unique flavor combinations(like the chili-rubbed, dark chocolate and thyme pecans?!? wow!), and super friendly staff. And this time, when we were in, one of the staff members was preparing lunch for the rest of the people working, using the CSA share that the owner buys for them! Awesome! Love this place– if you need something sweet– and I know you do– stop in here!

Really easy, not super snobby like some chocolatiers. Really laid back atmosphere. Nice selection of interesting chocolates. Really nice stuff, really enjoyed it. These are world class chocolates. Looking to go back soon. Prices are high, but that is to be expected when you go to these high end chocolatiers. The value is there though.

Incredible dark chocolate covered espresso beans. Addictive. Dangerously so. Get more than you think you will need/should have. Otherwise you will be sorry. Very sorry. It is not on the online ordering menu :(. The sea salt bark is a firm second selection. So damn tasty. Thin, darkly luscious with just the right kiss of salt. Mmmmmm heavenly. The whiskey truffles? Yes those are quite good indeed. Just the right alcoholly punch and it matches the dark chocolate wonderfully. The cherry truffle? Meh. If you crave dark chocolate like a vampire covets O negative, well this is definitely your place up north in Michigan. I thought, eh it will be ok for local, nope its fabu for anywhere. I could have resisted going in but when my nieces brought this home to the cottage, yeah I gave in to temptation, over and over and over again. I have a little tear in my eye that I did not bring any back south with me.

A must stop on your M-22 drive! Chocolate sun butter, truffles(chai, thyme, or ginger to name a few flavors), and rich, cold homemade fudgsicles. You’ll be glad you did!

Grocer’s Daughter is an Up North staple for me. The chocolate is great, and the flavor combinations they put together are mouth watering and unique. I like the spicy bark– dark chocolate with cayenne and chardonnay flavored sea salt(or something like that). They have an amazing selection of truffles as well which were 15% off this past weekend– they have several herb infused ones which are subtle but delicious. You can definitely get chocolate faced at this spot– samples galore! And if you want to sample something that is not already out they are more than happy to accommodate. In the summer they have amazing ice coffee(cold pressed) with frozen coffee for ice cubes. Thinking about it now has me feeling nostalgic for the summer time, especially in the midst of this hellish winter.

Wonderful chocolate truffles, caramels, «puddles»(flat patties of chocolate goodness topped with various fruits and nuts) and other chocolate confections. Whenever possible, local herbs, fruit and honey are incorporated into the candy. We had Grocer’s Daughter make our kids’ wedding-rehearsal favors a few years ago; they did a wonderful job long-distance, and the guests raved about them. My favorites include the salted caramels, the honey truffles and the herbal truffles.(The hummingbird truffle is made with a flower-infused herbal tea and is pretty special.) A couple of specialties: If you’re visiting in the wintertime, try the hot chocolate. It is the richest, most decadent hot chocolate in the world, and that’s WITHOUTDAIRY.(You can ask for a splash of cream.) I don’t know how they do it. It’s like liquid velvet. In the summertime, opt for the frozen chocolate lollipops — they’re not very big, but they pack a real chocolate punch.

The best dark chocolate I have tasted, and I have tried many different brands. Then they infuse some of it with fruit and nuts, bursting with flavor. An experience for your palette, the truffles are worth getting as well. A little expensive but it is hand made not in a factory

The frozen dark chocolate lollipops were AMAZING! Everything else just okay for me, pretty standard stuff with outrageous prices.

Great tourist spot! I heard rave reviews about this place, and I can admit with that and the excitement being up North it was fun to go here as it was funky, busy, and looked great, Overall we found the Chocolate Lollipops good but the rest of the chocolate standard and not different from many other places. I would still recommend going here and you may love the Chocolate but without the Tourist Color sunglasses it was pretty average.

This little place is unique and quaint. Not to mention you can get chocolate wasted. Tends to be a little crowded so try not to go at the most popular time, i.e. summer weekend. You can get little $ 1 and $ 2 bites to hold you over for the car ride, or waiting for your guests while they stand in line. Not a place to miss out on if you are within a 15– mile radius. Totally worth the trip.

Mmm… if you don’t get the Maya truffle, you are totally missing out! It’s packs a big punch of spicy and then mellows out into mysterious and exotic. Other likes: rosemary, thyme, ginger, chai. I could go to town on a box of these but then I wouldn’t have any to savor later on! They are so worth the price. Oh, Spicy Bark — really good and not too spicy at all.

Brace yourself as you approach Grocer’s Daughter. It may not look like much on the outside but as Ani B states, it smells like heaven when you walk through the door. If you’re lucky you’ll see some gals behind the counter even melting down pots of chocolate and it’ll smell even more intense. Oohhhh… *Homer Simpson drool* The first time I came here was about 5 years ago. We were speeding by on our way to or from Sleeping Bear and I did a breakneck double take as we drove by shouting«CHOCOLATE!» as the sign passed my view. Needless to say a U-turn was made and I have been a happy customer since. It used to have a coffee roaster next door but the next time I returned the coffee spot was gone and GD had expanded into the space. And yay for that since the expansion means more yummy treats for us! Truffles of all sorts of delicious flavors are to be found here. From cherry(my favorite) to herbs like thyme, rosemary and basil, spicier ones like the fire log and the Mayan and caramels dusted with sea salt. It’s not cheap but it is some of the best chocolate I’ve ever had. And I know chocolate! I’m kind of obsessed. For kiddos who like simpler tastes there are also a few molded chocolates like mice, frogs, and a few bars with toppings like dried fruit and nuts. They also sell mixes for hot chocolate and jarred treats like maple syrup and nut butters(not their own making but still tasty none the less). A real treat on a hot day are their fudgesickles which come in a variety of flavors that change on a daily basis. They’re basically flavored ganache frozen in ice cube trays with a stick in them. And they’re…amazing! My last trip I had the espresso – a dark chocolate with a coffee zing. The space is pretty neat. It’s painted a cheerful bright green and has plenty to look at from. Clippings about chocolate to massive cocoa beans on a plate to show you were the delicious morsels you’re munching on started out. Service is hit or miss. I’ve had some really fabulous clerks who bend over backwards to lend a hand to some somewhat aloof clerks who seem a little put off to be helping customers. But once you take a bite of those treats all of it disappears and that’s what keeps me coming back every time I end up in the area.

Stop by this lime green building for a delicious treat on your way back from climbing Sleeping Bear Dunes. They have organic, fair-trade chocolate, and their frozen fudgecicles are TO. DIE. FOR.(for $ 1.50/each — it’s about 5 bites of love.). Enjoy!
