We stopped here randomly on our way back to Denver and decided that this needs to be our regular stopping point on the way home from now on. The owner/chef trained in the culinary industry all over the world and settled here at this spot and you can tell he knows what he’s doing! Best burger ever, crispiest tattor tots, and the chips were the best we’ve ever had. I highly recommend!!!

If you’re looking for a hole-in-the-wall on your way out toward Winter Park, stop here. On the way to a ski adventure at SolVista, my friend and I stopped in for breakfast. The owner and server were both very nice and the breakfast we got was delicious and cheap. From the looks of the place, it seems to be a local establishment and have a set up for what I’m sure is fantastic karaōke.

Great place — stop here for the best burger in Empire(or maybe the best burger EVER)! My hubby, daughter and I stopped here after a hike in Empire and were super pleasantly surprised with the amazing burger, gracious owner and awesome outside deck and space! This is worth a try, really, go there! Great for kids too~

After a day of hiking or snowshoeing, Empire has become a place to stop to refuel. Our choices usually included a milkshake and after a hike on Berthoud, I wanted more than a shake. I had noticed a cheese burger sign out front of the newly opened 1860 Tavern and knew there would be more than milk. As we pulled up, a new banner advertised $ 1.00 draft PBR all day. Sweet. Well, the other exciting news is that appetizers, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served all day long. For example, do you want chicken fried steak fingers, or a chicken fired steak in a omelet, or in a sandwich, or with mashed potatoes and cream gravy. No matter what you crave on their menu, you can have it any time. At 3:00 in the afternoon, the Husband and I ordered the Best Breakfast burrito. It was very good and tasted great with a PBR. As we were eating, the new owner came over for a little chat. He is going to make 1860 Tavern a fun place to stop, with specials: horse shoes, pool, minors night, and on Thursday night, Karaōke. He said it funny and added they already had a night with about 200 people. And then I guessed, I said you must be really good at karaōke and he smiled. He is a baritone and does Elvis. His daughter was nodding behind him, saying her dad was the best. I am intrigued, I need to go back to have the Super Double Cheese Burger with bacon, they promise it is worth every calorie and listen to Karaōke. And in case I am feeling like being good, instead of a burger, I can order Colorado premium steak for $ 1.00/oz. Remember this is mountain cabin chic in decoration, so do not expect fancy. However, also expect a fun time even for families.
