Yocco’s Hot Dog King

Don’t know why everyone says try this place I’ve lived in the area for over ten years and the food is worse then school lunches! The hot dogs are over cooked dried out, the fries are basically just store brand dipped in grease I could make better ones at home. The place is old needs remodeling and maybe some cooking lessons, but I’ve done food service so it’s not that hard, wait time is a little long for what you gets some of the food is over priced. Maybe with a more motivated manager the place could be great! I’ve tried other ones and there ok so save the drive and just goto the one in fogelsville!

Yocco’s hot dogs are freakin’ amazing. I don’t have one by me so I have to order their sauce online. If you are anywhere near Allentown, PA then you have to find a location and check them out. Don’t forget to tell them that Geo sent you for the best dog in PA

Yoccos is an awesome place for hot dogs! They are very good but a little soggy in the bun and burnt slightly. Other than that they are very good. The pierogis were very good and so were the fries.

These hot dogs are to Allentown what Cheese Steaks are to Philly. I’ve been going to this place since I was a little kid and nothing has changed. The sauce, dogs, buns are all the same and that’s awesome. If you want to try something quintessentially Allentown then you have to stop here.
The restaurant is not much to look at but let’s be honest… that’s not why you’re here. The people are friendly and efficient but parking can be a bit of a pain depending upon the location.
My meal: 2 dogs with everything, 1 large pierogi, 1 orange soda. Enjoy!

Just was home visiting and took my bro and the bf to Yocco’s. Of course we natives know the value and tastiness of the dog with everything and the cheese steak! Bf was less impressed.

I can see how someone who didn’t grow up on Yocco’s «doesn’t get it». It is a local’s only real reference to fast food as a kid. They are Reading’s Berks hot dogs and done so well. I am not a fan of the special sauce but love everything else. My daughter and stopped in for a fast lunch of dogs and perogies. If you order a cheese dog expect a regular dog with a slice of American cheese wrapped around it. Prices are still reasonable and the service is always friendly!

Everyone’s says you have to try Yocco’s if you are in the Lehigh Valley. I can’t understand why. I’ve tried them three times now, (once by the airport and twice in Emmaus). The only thing I see as consistent is low quality, small hot dogs, frozen French fries, indifferent service staff, and Philly Cheesesteaks that aren’t any better then carnival food.
With a smidgen of effort, and a slightly higher food quality, they could be so much better. A little staff training in customer care would go along way too.
It’s three strikes and out for me.

I love Yocco’s Hotdogs. They are the best. HOWEVER, our visit around 1PM yesterday on our drive to nowhere it was not up to par. We were waiting in line and the kid behind the counter kept looking at customers but says nothing, It became obvious that they use ignoring customers to slow the work process instead of saying, «we’ll take your order in a moment» NOTHING, then he finally talks and asked what we wish to drink, then we encounter the big mouth that takes food orders as she slops condiments on the roll hotdog paper everywhere. I ask for fried onions and she says they don’t have them the slops raw onions on my two dogs, I also ordered Perogies. Wifey did a no no of restaurant code in a hotdog place, she orders a cheesesteak, I didn’t say anything. Her steak was on a larger hotdog type roll not an italian roll. Looks like the type of cheese steak Sonic offers on their hotdog roll. Wife helps me take off half the onions, and her steak sandwich was hard to look at as she ate it, and she said it sucked, good she was hungry.
Back to big mouth, she was trying to do everything as these young teenies looks on, she needs to delegate. she never made eye contact, as we ate, all we heard was her yelling orders. the whole kitchen is 8X20Ft maybe, not that big.
We sat in a booth next to windows with nic nacs on them and cobwebs all over. this will be, after yrs off stopping for my 2 dogs and a small order of perogies, MY LAST VISIT! $ 13 was the bill with 2 cokes

What can I say just like giing to Philly you have to have a cheesesteak, you gotta have a Yoccos dog when you come to the Lehigh Valley!

When I’m in the mood for a hot dog, this is where I like to go. I like to order the chili cheese dog with everything on it. The hot dogs are slightly burnt, with a dry chili sauce on top. If you get it with everything, you’ll get american cheese, onions, and mustard. I like to get two of these along with a large Mrs. T’s pierogi’s which will contain three large pierogi’s. Unfortunately, you won’t get any dipping sauce with that – I would like to see some sour cream to dip that in. But overall, I like the food here and prices are reasonable, but note that this is cash only, but there is an ATM machine in the back.
If you don’t like/​want hot dogs, they also offer hamburgers and cheese steaks. You’ll also find crinkled fries along with an assortment of drinks. Their is a drive-​thru or you can sit inside. The place isn’t overly big and looks old. Tables are a dark finish and the benches are a bright red, green, or blue.
It’s a bit of a drive for us to get up here, but about 3 – 4 times a year, I get in the mood for their hot dogs and make the trek north.

May have been an off day. or not. Stopped at the Emmaus outlet for Yocco’s, a stand alone building with a drive through window on Route 100. The line was nearly out the door when I entered, and the wait was nearly 20 minutes to get food. The folks were clearly understaffed, and not organized as efficiently as other outlets of the same branch. They also were having problems with bread, as the order had not arrived, and were almost to the point where they were not able to sell hot dogs. The order once placed was served up quickly. The dog was not as well done as the Hamilton street branch, the chili sauce not as spicy. The pierogies were greasy. Not sure I would return to this branch, though I continue to like the overall food experience, when it is well done.

Always have to visit when I’m back in the Lehigh Valley. Can’t go wrong getting a few dogs with everything on them. Pierogies and Fries are good as well depending who is on the fryer (they can be inconsistent at times). Service is always quick and friendly (especially if you know how to order… never try to order food from the drink person at the cash register). If you go on a Saturday, you’ll notice the same people working year after year.

I think I ate here 1 time about 6 years ago and I really didn’t remember what my impression was. I decided to suggest it Saturday night to recall what all the hype is about. I had a love cheeseburger and pierogies. My husband ordered a love burger as well and a bunch of dogs with cheese and chili on them. I tried my husband’s dogs and thought they were kind of gross. The mushrooms on my burger were of a different species. They were definitely not fresh mushrooms, but they weren’t quite as disgusting as canned, but pretty close. The meat was completely average. On the upside I enjoyed the pierogies. I asked for sour cream for the pierogies but they don’t have sour cream. They told me they get a lot of requests for sour cream for the pierogies and kraut for the dogs but these are things they just never have. Probably never going back to Yucko’s, I mean Yocco’s again.

I wish Yocco’s had a stand in Portland. Alas they do not, so for every trip back east, I have to get at least one fix of Yocco’s. Two hot dogs (with sauce) and a large order of pierogies. So tasty! :)

My mother in law calls their dogs Yuckies, but that’s not quite fair. An average dog in this culinary wasteland gets 3 stars from me.
The dogs themselves were of the «mystery meat» type, the bread was the standard ones you get at the supermarket, but the chilly was a bit spicy and quite good. For the least offensive taste, try onions, chili and mustard on your dogs.

The staff is the most consistently incompetent group of people I’ve ever witnessed. It’s actually impressive to me how they manage to have some massive communication breakdown – yes, regarding HOT DOGS – every single time I go here. Today I was starving, and it took a solid two minutes just for someone to say «I’ll be right with you.» It’s a counter that you stand in front of, so this entire time I’m thinking, «Um, do you see me?» Then when my order finally came up, it just sat there for 3 minutes until someone else asked what it was waiting on. (Nothing. «Oh, that’s yours?»)
I always have to repeat my order at least three times, and my order isn’t very complicated. The staff all seem to genuinely hate one another, and openly bicker or snap at each other in front of customers.
Redeeming quality: The hot dogs are good and, when you’re craving a dog, worth dealing with the above complaints.

No. Never again. I’m always open to trying a new hot dog, but this just did not cut it for me.
In the interest of trying a new dog joint, I got one plain dog and one dog with everything. Starting with the plain dog, there was absolutely nothing special about it. It wasn’t even that good. Moving on to the chili dog, the chili was disgusting. I didn’t even finish that dog.
My husband got two plain dogs with whatever condiments he usually puts on, and he didn’t finish his second dog either. The pierogies he ordered we decent, at best… and no thanks with the fries. Ours didn’t even taste cooked.
Fast forward an hour later: We are both really, really sick for the rest of the day.
I’ll stick to Willy Joe’s or Toby’s or the original Jimmy’s in Palmer. I really don’t understand the hype associated with Yocco’s.

I like Yocco’s. The hot dogs are very good (not the best though — sorry :)) The fries are good… cheese steaks are even pretty good. My kids love their hot dogs, too! The Yocco’s special is a very good deal and a good dog.
Two reasons I didn’t give it a five…
1. I like K&J Doggies in Bechtelsville better (again, sorry)
2. No sauerkraut… I don’t even know how a hot dog place let alone a chain can exist without sauerkraut! I will eat at Yocco’s if I’m in the area, but my wife wants ‘kraut on her hot dog… so no Yocco’s if the wife is with me.

It’s just so good.
