Went in for a broken screen hinge on a laptop, main guy told me the cost approximation, and asked whether my machine was still under warranty. It is, and I got it repaired through Asus. Strange that a company would suggest an alternative method that ends up with me not paying them, but I’ll be sure to come back to support them the next time I want a repair. Thank you!

Bought a network card from here that I ended up having to return, due to it being incompatible with my machine. The process was seamless. Will check here first for all my computer needs, as I prefer to support local companies. I suggest you do the same.

My brother and I attempted to fix a broken Toshiba laptop screen and failed, so badly that the computer wouldn’t turn back on. Tom answered my call and was able to look at the computer the same day. I brought in the busted laptop and new screen I’d ordered on Amazon, and Tom had the problem fixed in very little time. From the beginning Tom was clear about the repair costs, and I was pleased with his fair and speedy service.

I was helping my sister replace her hard drive in a Mid 200913″ MacBook Pro(upgrading to a SSD drive). We originally tried to do it using just a Time Machine backup, but it didn’t work correctly, and I figured out we needed to do regular hard drive clone instead from her old hard drive to the new one. The right tool for this job was an external USB case for the old laptop SATA hard drive, and that is EXACTLY what Tom had at Tom’s Computer Warehouse(in a beautiful red anodized aluminum enclosure no less!). At ~$ 21 out the door I’m pretty sure I could have found something similar cheaper online, but I needed it LASTNIGHT and they had it in stock and ready to go. Happy to support the small guy who’s been doing this stuff for many many years. Hit him up if you need something like this, you’ll be happy to meet Tom. Friendly service, easy transaction, would shop there again.

Wow, can you say AWESOME! Greg took my computer as soon as I arrived and handled my problem(a login issue) immediately and with expertise. I’m a tech support guy too, and today was the day I decided to get help from someone else, and I was not disappointed. If you have problems with your computer, go straight to these guys, don’t even hesitate.

I called Tom earlier this week to see if he could solder a power jack for me. Instead of having me come into his store, he was extremely honest and told me that I may have better luck at another shop, which he graciously provided the phone number and address of. Only people with true integrity do these sorts of things. If anything, this review shows that Tom does care about the work he provides and is truly an honest man. I will give and send business his way in the future.

Needed to find a PC laptop with Firewire to work with my audio gear, happened to ride by Tom’s one day and thought«What the hell?». Picked up a Dell for a reasonable price, got it home and found that, while not defective in any way, it just wasn’t the machine for me and would be a headache down the line. Took it back and found a Lenovo for $ 30 less that does everything I want it to and just seems like an all-around better fit for me. Tom couldn’t have been nicer about the swap and I’ll definitely be using his shop in the future. Highly recommended.

I am only able to write this review because Tom’s saved me. I downloaded some very scary-looking malware that looked like it was from the FBI, claiming I’d downloaded and distributed child porn, and the only way to resolve this matter was to send them a $ 400 money gram. I’m so sure! I got on Unilocal(thank G-d for smartphones) and found Tom’s. Brought the computer in on Monday, they totally knew what I was talking about and said they’d fix it, no prob. Tuesday, 5:30, I had my computer back — sans malware, plus appropriate security software, good as new!

My Toshiba laptop died suddenly & inexplicably. I was freaked because I couldn’t remember the last time I had backed up my files & was afraid that all might have been lost to the Blue Screen of Death. I was happy to find Tom’s on Unilocal.I had never noticed their shop before & it was good to learn that I have a great resource so close by(I live in Emeryville). I had actually called & left messages for two other shops first going down the Unilocal list that popped up according to best reviews. I made my calls around 9:00 — 9:30AM. One guy didn’t get back to me until 2 full days later at 6:30 in the morning — WTF? The other shop got back to me around 2:30PM, asking me to bring in my machine at 4PM& I had to inform them that I had already dropped off my laptop elsewhere a few hours earlier because they actually answered their phone. That’s right, Tom’s was the only place that actually answered their phone — so they got my business. I spoke to Marvin & he instructed me to bring in my machine any time & they would check it out & give me a quote at that time. No additional pro-rated hourly charges here — just a fixed fee. Marvin greeted me when I arrived & checked out my laptop himself. Feeling confident that it was a fixable software issue & not damaged hardware, he handed off my computer to Greg to handle. I felt confident with my machine in Greg’s hands because other customers on the phone & walk-ins were referred to Greg so he seemed to be very knowledgeable & the go-to guy there. Greg took a look & made some guesses as to what was going on with my laptop. He was hopeful that it would be a quick fix. My quote was $ 127.50& I was told I would probably be able to pick up my laptop the next day. It ended up taking an extra day because the issue was a little more complicated than previously thought — a stupid automatic Windows update had corrupted all my files. BUT my laptop & all its data were saved in the end thanks to Greg(I only had to recreate one Excel file which was created in an older version & didn’t hold up). I paid the price I was originally quoted with no surprise hidden fees for additional labor due to an unexpectedly more complicated issue. When I paid I was given an overview of work performed so I knew exactly what had been done. That was a nice professional touch since I’ve heard some people just hand you back your PC& don’t bother to explain anything other than«Here. I fixed it.» I wouldn’t hesitate to use Tom’s again & recommend them to friends.

I took several broken laptops here, great service. Then they moved six years ago to 45th and San Pablo. They are under the name: Toms’s Computer Warehouse.

Great computer repair shop. I took my laptop in, with a bad hard drive. The tech replaced my hard drive and installed new memory for about $ 130. One repair tech, and one network tech in a tiny shop. They do networking services and next week they will come in to figure out on our fifteen work machines why they are so slow.

My wife had Tom build a computer to her specifications several years ago. He did it promptly and at a good price, and it’s been working well for her ever since. My own experience with Tom is with a couple repairs on my aging computer. He found the problems easily and quickly, did the repair on the spot, and his prices were very affordable. Dealing with him is a pleasure. When it comes time for me to get a new computer, I’ll be heading right to Tom!
