My third most favorite restaurant in the Public Market. They make greasy, thin-crust, NY-style pizza. It fits the bill and hits the spot. It’s not mind-blowing by any stretch of the imagination, but if you want a slice you can fold try this place.

I’m from NY so I’m picky about pizza… This place is awesome. The pizza is the best that I’ve tried in the area and it’s the best priced too. I always get a slice or two of cheese, and a greek salad. I had it again the other day, fresh out of the oven at lunch time, and it was soooo good.

…i found out about mediterraneo via Unilocal!im not sure if it warrants a four star rating… imo three stars… maybe 3.5 stars… the pizza was good & they prepare it right in front of u… idk… i will admit that i have a preference for the americanized style of pizza… mediterraneo specializes in the old world style thin crust… ive tried it at another location and that type of pizza is just not my thing… i think i was expecting too much from mediterraneo & thats why give it three stars… so ill admit its not them but me… if u want american style pizza dont come here… but if ur into authentic italian pizza then mediterraneo is the place…

I work very close to the Public Market, and needed to grab a quick lunch. I have been to most of the local places near my office and wanted to try something new so I ventured over to this spot for a panini. I had the Siena sandwich, which had salami, provolone, tomatoes, lettuce and Dijon mayonnaise. It was fresh, and the panini itself wasn’t burnt. They also gave me a free salad(I went with potato, the red peppers in it were memorable), but you can get beans or chips as an option too. Final total was $ 6.80, a price I was amenable too, as I didn’t want to spend over $ 7(I figure that’s a reasonable lunch price). The kicker was getting the two almond Hershey Kisses(not just the standard silver wrapped ones) for Valentine’s Day too. The little things in life really do get me by.

I love this place! Their panini’s are so good! They have different choices and you can have it either cold like a sandwhich or they will put it in a panini press! So Yummy! They have a memebership program too for each time you buy something. I haven;t had there pizza but it does look really good. The service is usually pretty fast and friendly owners.

This is the best restaurant in the Emeryville Public Market and some of the best pizza I’ve had in the Bay Area. Their crust is thin and delicious. It’s surprisingly difficult for a pizza place to have flavorful crust, but Mediterraneo’s is probably the best I’ve had(other than Lanesplitter before they changed their recipe). The toppings are fresh and tasty. My favorite pie is pepperoni, ricotta(it’s delicious) and red onions. They also make really good sandwiches, most of which are unique creations from the owner’s wife. The Messina is my favorite. It also comes with a side of potato salad! Mediterraneo is great and much better than Hot Italian next door.

I(HEART) THEMESSINAPANINI! I’ve been ordering this panini for over 3 years, it’s spicy-chicken-chipotle-heavenly-amazing! their salads is also very yummy and well portioned(and their croutons are home-made-delicious)! The staff is efficient and quirky, always a fun experience ordering from this place.

Don’t be fooled by the Unilocal reviews!!! Make sure over 100 people gave high ratings before you go to the place!!! I went to Mediterraneo Pizza after reading the reviews, and I wasted over $ 15 for a tiny pizza that doesn’t taste like a pizza!!! They put very thin layer of sauce. Very thin layer of cheese, 3 very thin slices of tomatoes, everything is extremely thin. I felt like the owner is so poor, they can’t afford to put a little bit more of everything… OR the owner is SO greedy, they don’t want to add a little bit more cheese or a little more slices of veggies!!! If the taste were really good, I wouldn’t complain about the ingredient!!! The pizza tasted like salty flour bread! There was no taste of cheese or veggies!!! Only salt and bread. I wouldn’t eat here again! I wouldn’t eat anything from Public market food court! The place looks really old and dirty! Feels like there are cockroaches everywhere! They gotta do something about the food court!!! renovate or something!!!

I am vegetarian and always order the primavera pizza. That pizza is perfection and any meat eater would love it too! I like this place much more than Rotten City Pizza and it is my favorite place in the Public Market. Besides the tasty food, the people here are incredibly nice!

The 9″ Margherita pizza is where it’s at. Eat it outside on a breezy warm 75 degree day. It’s so good and for only a bit more than $ 7, I think I found my go to place in the diverse offerings of the Public Market.

WOWOKAY, So I’ve had tired nearly every pizza in Berkeley. They were all good but the all taste the same. I was really craving pizza and i saw this cute little place hiding in the back and i got a really good cheese pizza, my mouth melted. The people there are really nice they gave me a free pizza and a free sandwich. Every time i crave pizza or a spicy sandwich i come here

The bf and I were looking for a quick convenient meal so we came to the Public Market to check out the options. I decided on Mediterraneo Pizza which is tucked in at one end. I ordered a 9″ margherita pizzetta because the pizzas in the warmer didn’t look that great. They start putting the pizza together once you order — nothing is pre-made except for the dough! Pizza comes out piping hot in 10 – 15 minutes. You can tell the owner lovingly puts a lot of care into his pizzas — I watched him as he prepared the basil for my pizza. He was super friendly and talkative. The pizza itself was thin crust with tons of gooey cheese. Definitely better hot than cold a couple hours later. Reasonably priced at $ 7!

Ok, seriously. YUM! I’ve tried so many of the various delicious pizza places in the East Bay. Little Star, Lanesplitter, Rotton City, Cheeseboard, etc. But do you ever have a hankering for a simple thin crust, cheesy delicious pizza? Cause I did tonight and Mediterraneo totally hit the spot. I’d describe it like a street pizza. Nothing fancy, but just plain and simple GOOD. I haven’t had a pizza like this in years and I’m so happy to have found this place right across the street from where I live. And they are amazingly friendly here. They let us try a free slice of pizza when they noticed we were oggling the pizza in their little pizza display. And I’m not a huge panini fan but their panini looked delicious. Will definitely go back to try one.

For more traditional pizza, I haven’t found anything better in the area. It’s a medium crust(excellent quality crust) with fresh ingredients. And they’re really friendly there to boot. I haven’t tried by-the-slice there, but I’m guessing the quality will have to suffer since the Pub Market is a walk-through place and they’ll have to prepare it in 5 mins or less, meaning half-cooked cheese slice, throw on toppings, then cook for another 5 mins. I’ll update the review if I swing by for a slice. Anyways, anytime I feel like traditional(non-Zachary’s), I’ll order from this place.

I work in the building attached to Public Market. However, I try to bring lunch from home as much as I can. I do get lazy though and don’t like to spend a lot and especially for bleh food(like about half the place in Public Market). That’s why Mediterraneo is a spot I hit up quite often. The prices are reasonable for everything, pizzas, paninis and salads and they are all good! I’ve tried most of the paninis and a couple of the salads. They are pretty flavorful and fresh. The pizza by the slice with a salad is a good bet. I do have to say the employees and owner are super friendly! I always feel like they will take good care of me in my hour of hunger.

I love pizza… it is my favorite food. Thank GOD for amazing pizza spots in my area… zachs, little star, cheeseboard, arizmendi… so how does this little hole in the wall stall at the emeryville public market stand a chance? Well… let me tell you. price! crispy crust. saltiness. 8 minutes made and piping hot. I can’t really explain why, but I really like their pizza. It’s simple, no nonsense, non-fancy, honest to goodness pizza that I can take out(and shop the other public market stalls for other things that go with pizza… fries, curry, jamaican meat pies, korean bbq). Wait, I suppose I love pizza so much that I can see it married with anything. marriage equality for all with pizza… this is where it can all happen! plus the guys behind the counter are super nice! I’ll be back… again and again.
