Stop & Shop

This is an excellent food store. Clean, spacious, affordable and the staff is nice. Parking is extremely ample and the self check out is very convenient. Produce is fresh and sales are excellent.

This is a very large stop and shop with an even larger parking lot, they have more then enough space to hold all of their merchandise which is good because it doesn’t feel like you are all jammed in when you are trying to shop. The store itself is a little confusing to get around as not everything is marked and not everything is organized in a normal fashion for what reason I really don’t know so it was a bit hard to navigate. The thing I really disliked though was the staff. A lot of them I cant say all were very rude and disrespectful towards customers and towards each other in front of customers which is very unprofessional. I also saw a lot of them having conversations even when I tired to get their attention they completely ignored me like I wasn’t even there which is honestly a little ridiculous. The prices were pretty reasonable compared to other food stores and compared to other stop and shops I honestly think If they don’t do something about their staff that they are going to lose a lot of customers and the place will go down hill fast. Just something to keep in mind that staff should be friendly to customers it really isn’t all that hard sorry but it isn’t. its also not hard to pay attention to a customer that is trying to get your attention and stop having a conversation with your co workers to speak with a customer. They also need to organize the store a bit better but, besides all of that it is a big store that you can get a lot of groceries at so keep that in mind.

I moved into the neighborhood a year ago, expecting the local Shoprite to be my steady supermarket as it had been in another Bergen County town. But the Shop and Stop in Emerson is absolutely tops. Clean, well stocked, and they carry Bell and Evans chicken! Fruits and veggies are fresh and nicely displayed. The only thing I don’t buy there is fish — I tend to buy fish at a local Korean market. Stop and Shop beats the A&P (my second choice) and Shoprite (awful).

Before Stop and Shop you had A&P, Shoprite, and Kings. Once I heard a Stop and Shop was openining up nearby I made the switch and haven’t looked back. Their bakery is great, their deli is great, their seafood doesn’t have a lot of selection. However they do have a pretty good selection of meats, including organic or naturally raised, or whatever we’re calling it these days!
Bright, clean, spacious and the aisles are labeled so there’s no confusion on where to go.
Fantastic ideas that they have are their deli kiosk’s so you can place your order ahead of time and continue to shop. They also have handheld scanners so that you can scan, bag and then checkout quickly. Both are awesome time savers!
