Great Saturday option for those of us who like breakfast but don’t want to have to be somewhere by 10:30 am when you’re on vacation. Not fancy but friendly, diner type atmosphere.

No parking. Rude staff. Don’t bother trying, too many other places to go and they should know that. The sad part is, I was really looking forward to eating there.

Service is great, staff super friendly. Unfortunately the food was lackluster. They had several seafood items on the menu yet no cocktail sauce. Burgers were dry and soup tasted watered down. I guess we should have taken the fact there was no wait to be seated as a hint.

Food and service were great! To the people who say that they had bad service and long waits you have to understand that in emerald isle there are very few places to eat lunch and dinner so the waits are going to be a bit longer especially in a smaller restaurant like this. This is not a chain so building us not huge. So you may want o adjust to go a little earlier or later because at rush hours you will have a longer wait. But as I said yummy food and great service.

This is one wacky place! Hit or Miss is the best way to describe it! The food is excellent, if you get a waitress/waiter that remembers your order. Place is large but hard to get seated because there is no hostess. Complete and total chaos. Some of the staff is friendly, some are too friendly(worrisome at times) and some are not really rude but just in a different world. It’s fun though and the food, like I said is great. It’s just a VERY unorganized place. Prices are pretty good as well.

AMAZING breakfast food! You must try the French toast(it’s deep fried!) and pimento cheese omelet. Unreal.

Tried to eat here for breakfast, but our party(and the one after us) was ignored by the entire staff for 7 – 8 minutes of standing in the front of the restaurant waiting for a table. Go to Flipperz instead.

We tried to go to Flipperz, but they were packed so we went here. I had the grilled ham and cheese. Kids had burgers and shrimp. Chips were not done, and fries were the same. Sandwich was good. Service was a little slow. Had to wait a while to leave as they didn’t bring the check. Staff was friendly. Probably won’t go back unless it’s an emergency.

I came for breakfast today and I will not be back… for any meal. Coffee was weak, cups were dirty and food was awful. Nothing more needs to be said.

If I’m not sleeping in, Emerald Grill is where you’ll find me for breakfast on the island. Been going to EG for four years now, and the only thing better than the breakfasts is how quickly the manager and staff make you feel like you’re home. Don’t let a couple bad reviews from last year keep you away from this SOBX gem. A tourist or two may not have had the best experience/review, but notice all the locals that show up day after day… there’s something DEFINITELY groovy about the Emerald Grill.

it’s not a bad little place to stop and eat. i’ve been in there several times and I haven’t had anything bad as far as food goes. it’s pretty cool in there although the interior is kind of boring. it’s just a nice place to stop and grab a quick lunch with a friend maybe.

Absolutely the worst experience I’ve ever had at a breakfast spot. Showed up with 4 friends on Saturday morning around 11am, walked in and saw a sign that said«please seat yourselves.» The place was at average capacity, not busy but not slow. Apparently us attempting to seat ourselves annoyed the server and she was instantly rude to us. She said there was a 20 minute wait and if it wasn’t for our appetites we would have left right then based on her attitude alone. We stuck it out for 10 mins or so until two whole tables left. We still patiently waited(standing around awkwardly) until she cleared the tables. Once they were clear the place was now not busy whatsoever so we decided to again… seat ourselves. While attempting to do so we were again told she wasn’t ready for us. I asked if it was ok that we just sat down but apparently that was too much. Blowgan(Logan. Owner’s overly flamboyant son) then got in on it and instead of taking the customer’s side he took hers and told us we could go ahead and leave if we weren’t happy. Which we gladly did. I type this now from down the street at Mikes drinking a coffee and having prompt and proper service. Hangover subsided.

We went there for lunch the first day on the island, we were seated quickly although it is a bit tricky to find someone to seat you. But, we got Reuben’s and homemade chips– so amazing I wanted to go back the next day! Definitely highly recommend especially if Flippers has a wait!

Oy. Yikes. After learning the wait for Flipperz was an hour plus, we explored Emerald Grill. We were a six top, on a Friday night in the middle of the summer and were sat immediately. That is never a good sign. The dinner menu was tiny. But you can order from the breakfast, lunch or dinner menu. None of the food was particularly appetizing. The unsweet tea was cloudy. Half of the homemade chips were inedible. The server was inept. If it wasn’t for their prime location, they would be out of business.

Fantastic local gem. We walked in on a Thursday night at 7:50 for dinner(not knowing they closed at 8). We were excited that there wasn’t an hour and a half wait like all the other popular crowded restaurants in the area. They welcomed us and had our seats ready in no time. We loved that it is a family owned business with mom and dad cooking while he kids work the bar and tables. Homemade food and secret recipe hot sauce did the trick! We even bought the jarred hot sauce for home. I will go back here every time I visit Emerald Isle.

The place was clean and in a pinch I would eat there again, but in a whole it was pretty bad. Frozen shrimp, packaged cheese, not worth the money.

Breakfast was not so great. Had my 3 year old with me and no booster seat offered and when I asked was told they would check, after asking again was then told they have no boosters. I then asked for a children’s menu, was told they would check on that and again no luck, no children’s menu. Good was described as fluffy, however when meal came out it was clear to me this had been frozen and heated up on a grill. I was not impressed. Maybe this place is under new management or just not the place for breakfast but when compared to other restaurants on island this would be my last choice.

Satisfied my breakfast craving. The country ham was really tough so stay away. Eggs were fixed exactly right, which is hit or miss when you like over medium. The bacon was also perfect! Unique was the fried waffle! Was different but good if you need to take care if a sweet tooth this is it. Our waitress took care of what we needed but was not very attentive. Would definitely come back.

This past Saturday, March 17th I stopped in Emerald Grill for some breakfast. It’s an adorable local place in a strip mall just off the main road. We were greeted warmly and I knew right away that this was a local gem. The dining room was mostly full so we sat at the bar. Both of us ordered the French Toast, mine with a sausage patty and his with bacon. Cooked just right. I’ve never had French Toast so crispy with such strong egg flavoring, but I really liked it! Both of us cleared our plates. I liked that our server made my chocolate milk right in front of us too. We were there an hour or so just enjoying the atmosphere before heading over to the beach. If I had more time or went back I’d love to visit again. This is a little grill with a lot of heart.
