Finally. I finally made it to my 1000th review. It took a while to think of a business that would be worthy of such a distinction bit once I thought of it I cannot imagine anywhere else would be better for this honor than Lemon Ladies Orchard. And I must also thank Michele R. for if it were not for her glowing review I might not have known about them. No more supermarket Meyers for me! I have had the pleasure of doing business with LL on at least three occasions. Each time my bounty of beautiful lemons have reached me in perfect condition and always packed with love as well as a few other surprises. And the lady who owns the orchard could not be any nicer to deal with. Her passion is so apparent. I have used the lemons, for instance, for baking my fabu vegan lemon squares, in whiskey sours, as preserved lemons for my Moroccan style cooking and in water as a refreshing beverage. The possibilities are endless with these sweet yellow lovelies. I also love to give a few away to well chosen friends who I know will appreciate them. The lemons are true delicacies for the connoisseur and that they are harvested but once a year makes them that much more precious. I have to ration them wisely lest I waste any of them for their enjoyment is short-lived and I always look forward to the next time. And there will be a next time. This journey has been incredible. I dedicate this review to those people both here on Unilocal and«in the field» who have made it so. You know who you are. Thank you. Here’s to another 1000! Cheers!~

The Lemon Ladies Orchard web site says«The Best Meyer Lemons Lovingly Grown.» As a customer for two years now to order these luscious lemons to have them shipped to me, I can attest they are the best Meyer lemons I have ever used, outside of the days when I lived in CA and could pick them off my own tree outside my patio door. Not just luscious, lovely, juicy, tart-sweet little gems of Meyer lemons are provided by owner Karen Morss, but very friendly service and efficient shipping too. Karen picks the lemons for orders on Sunday and mails them on Monday… how much fresher can you get except to pick your own? My introduction to this source was when friend sent me a gift of the Lemon Ladies lemons. How’s that for a GREAT gift idea? Then I started ordering them on my own.(The orchard’s name, Lemon Ladies, come from Karen naming each of her roughly 40 trees after women who inspired her.) The season runs from about November through April, I think. More specific information on that an be found at the Lemon Ladies web site posted above. If you sign up at the web site, Karen will email you when the lemons start to be available. I’m looking forward to next season already! And one last tip… for a brief time Karen was also making Meyer Lemon Marmalade. She stopped that last year, but if she decides to make the marvelous marmalade again, you’ll want to try that too!
