Great, fun, unique coaster. It is the only one still in existence and the Knoebel’s family spent seven years to «get it right» to match current safety standards(it is based on a design from 1968 at Riverview Park in Chicago). The main thing to try to do is to maximize the train weight while remaining under the 400 pound per car limit…

This is very much an YMMV(Your Mileage May Vary) ride. The construction of Flying Turns took significantly longer than expected, lasting from 2006 – 2013, and it’s the only operating one in the world. Flying Turns is one of the few rides at Knoebels with a significant line, and on a normal day expect to wait 45 minutes, so plan accordingly. When arriving at the platform, they do weigh passengers with an automated scale(the numbers are NOT public), as each car has a maximum weight of 400lbs. As of 2015, they have at least four trains with three cars, and each car is capable of fitting one or two people. Riders are not allowed to use cell phones and video recording devices while on the ride. The sensation of the ride is like going fast and downhill in a circle. Flying Turns is interesting but has a similar problem to predecessor, the Whirlwind: The ride is too short. This is very much a ride you could do once every few years, unlike the Phoenix and Twister roller coasters at Knoebels, as it does not change much. Flying Turns could easily be a three, but due to its uniqueness, I have to give it a four.
