Friendly’s

I’ve lived in Elwood my entire life, and eaten friendlys many times. I have never been disappointed with their food. They have always delivered fast, delicious food at a great price and as many customizations to your order as you can come up with. I’m writing this review not because of the quality of the food or the cleanliness of the restaurant, but because of the rudeness of whoever just answered the phone. I’ve been a server/​bartender for almost a decade now, and I am completely empathetic when it comes to service staff and how busy and frustrating it can get, but the way I was treated on the phone is unacceptable. I was rushed, she wouldn’t listen to me because she was in such a hurry, and if she would have just taken a second to actually talk to me the phone call would have been much shorter. Instead, she would interrupt me before I could finish my sentences, and when I asked the person I was with how she wanted something the lady on the phone asked «do you wanna call me back when you’re ready?» Really? No, I don’t want to call you back when I’m ready, I’m talking to you right now making an order. Again, I understand how hectic it can get during a rush, but part of your job is providing friendly service, even on a phone call. Normally I tip 20% even on a to go order, more if the place is slammed and I know it’s taking their time away from their tables and other duties to get my to go ready, but not when you treat me like a nuisance. The food is always five stars, and it’s still the five star food that’s keeping me from making this a one star review, but really, the name of your restaurant is friendlys, atleast try to be friendly.

Excellent diner. Great coffee, good biscuits and gravy. And believe the reviewers who recommend the fried potatoes. Fast service and prices that can’t be beat. It’s not the newest, most modern décor, but people don’t go to diners looking for that. Friendly’s lives up to its name.

Great little diner. Get the crispy hickey wings. Comes with since on the side which I like. Charbroiled filet has a perfect grilled crust (order rare if you like a more pink «medium rare») came with an honest baked potato that appeared to be in the oven for hours, forming that caramelized crusty skin.

Super tiny diner that gets you served fast. If you are traveling through and it is before 4pm. Do yourself a favor and stop here instead of the McDonalds drive thru.
V — diner fare so if you stick with the breakfast menu you’ll be fine.
GF — I get eggs and taters. Their fried potatoes are so good i do not miss the toast AT ALL.
They have a juke box and a candy machine that is older than jesus. The décor is a bunch of modle cars. Super kitschy. Love it.
They still DO NOT take credit cards.
