I booked the main room for my wedding 2 years ago. Service was great! the price was unbeatable and the room was already decorated so we did not have to spend money on that. Definitely worth it. Now that my wife is pregnant :) i might book the smaller room downstairs for the baby shower!

I booked The Victorian’s lower level room for my sister’s baby shower. Lucky us, it ended up being scheduled the same week that Hurricane Irene was visiting. Although several other vendors had absolutely no problem rescheduling their services, The Victorian gave me the hardest time about rescheduling even after the state of emergency was put in place, the parkway and bridges were set to be closed. All they cared about was the money that they will lose rather than the safety of their employees and customers. They did not care that over half of our guests were coming from a long distance, hotels were not available, and everyone in the NY area would have absolutely no way of getting to the shower, no matter what time they left their homes because all public transportation, bridges, and parkway were closed due to Hurricane Irene. Their resolution you ask? To call in the Sunday morning of the storm(mind you, this was supposed to be during the heart of the storm) to see if the event would still take place or not. C’mon. The event was supposed to take place at 11:30am. At what time would you have liked me to call up 50+ guests to let them know if they should or should not hustle their way over? Was I to call the cake place the morning of and cancel my custom personally ordered 3 tier cake? All I heard time and time again over the phone was how they were losing money. You are in an industry where these things happen! You have insurance to cover yourself. It’s not OUR problem and NO I will not have a pitty party for you. The Friday before the shower, I had to go with my brother in law in person to try and reschedule this event. Although it clearly states that rescheduling is available due to weather on the back of the contract, we were given a very hard time and a reminder that they were losing out. After a good half hour + of sitting there with the son who had to call his mother(I’m assuming the owner) several times, we finally had the OK to reschedule. HOWEVER, for some unearthly reason they keep two separate booking calanders and could not specify what date would be available until days later. Its almost 2012 and you can’t keep a simple computerized version of your schedule of events? How safe is it to book here again? Bottom line — we had it rescheduled. The event itself was ok but the intial experience & the way they treat their customers is absolutely tasteless and unacceptable. Next time, if you want an event to go on, you can pay for a holicopter to bring in my guests.
