Terrible service. Delivery took over an hour and food was terrible and cold when it arrived. Workers were very rude over the phone and offered no help. Have ordered from here a few times and am always disappointed. Not good Mexican food, wouldn’t recommend this place if my life depended on it.

While during the two times I’ve had Señor Jefe’s the food was good, nothing fantastic, but good enough to enjoy; the thing that gives it a 1 star review is its service. It’s very terrible. It’s embarrassing how terrible it was. The first time, we ordered at the place, which took somewhere between 30 minutes to 1 hour to make. While food was good, but it was not worth waiting that long to get. At that time, I thought we caught them at a bad time. Oh, how wrong I was. At the second, and last time, we tried Señor Jefe’s, I thought I would call in my order, so that by the time I got there, it’ll be ready to go. So, after work, called in the order. Got to Señor Jefe’s about 30 minutes since I called… and the food wasn’t ready yet. It ultimately took another 30 to 45 minutes to make my order! The restaurant wasn’t busy or anything. It was clear that this place’s service was terrible and its cooks seem to take their sweet time cooking it’s food. Since that day, I and the rest of my family ignore this place like the plague. If you are brave enough to try this place for lunch or dinner, good luck to you if you can find a parking spot; as it is near two popular food joints, so all the parking spots will be taken. Also, there’s hardly any seating in the place, besides some stands near the window. Basically, don’t eat at Señor Jefe’s. Go find someplace else for your Mexican food craving.

Terrible service… Even worse delivery service! We ordered at 7pm and called twice to find out where our food was and still nothing at 9pm when the girl assured us that they were minutes away at 8:30pm… Mind you we are only 8 minutes from the place. Never will I order from them again!

I go here pretty frequently. They make the food by-order so if you walk in don’t expect it to be out in 2 minutes– usually 15 – 20 minutes prep time. So I now call in my order ahead of time so that it is ready when I arrive(and it still often requires some waiting). Overall: Positives: Service is friendly and professional, food is pretty good– not greasy and cheap and prepared fresh. Negatives: The wait time for food can vary from 15 – 30 minutes. If you are on a schedule I recommend calling in your order ahead of time and taking it home or to work. There are a total of about 8 uncomfortable high top chairs in the restaurant– it is more of a Johnny’s style grab your food and go joint.

This place is pretty decent. Better than a lot of the greasy Mex food spots around for sure. Prices are not the too high or the cheapest by any means. My 6 yr old son forever wants chicken nuggets and they actually make them there, as opposed to some frozen crap from almost every other place in the world serving chicken nuggets. I realize I just reviewed the chicken nuggets on a Mexican restaurant, but I did also include that the rest of the food is not bad as well. I’d eat there again.

Very disappointing! Our regular place was closed so we tried it out. The food was more expensive than we usually pay and the quality was weird. I ordered a veggie burrito and there were mushrooms and potatoes in it. The salsa also tasted funky.

I usually order the steak quesadillas, they are ok. I have ordered the torta, but I give that one star as they make it soggy. Additionally I ordered the macho nachos, but they were stingy on the cheese… No bueno!

I was shocked by how good this place was. We used them for a large Mexican themed party. Tito was a complete pro who paid attention to details. The service was first rate. The order was exactly what we asked for and it was delivered precisely on time. The quality of the food was just outstanding. Really a premium meal. The ingredients were fresh and very well prepared. Everything was delicious. We don’t often use a caterers and Señor Jefe’s made the whole experience wonderful. We ordered their Taco Fiesta and every one of our guests raved about how tasty the food was. The guacamole was amazing. All of the meats were excellent and all the fixins were gourmet quality. Great experience.

These have to be the worst tacos I have ever had in my life. I ordered 18 of them which total 52 dollars and some change. There was enough meat on them for about two taco even the lettuce was skimpy go down the street to tbk or La Parrillita. At least they don’t ripe you off. Señor jefe is a rip off. Oh and I wish I could give the minus 5 stars they suck.

My wife and I went there to try the food and Tacos were super small like they put a tea spoon of meat on my tacos and torta. Good thing they opened a new restaurant east by Harlem. Will be going there now.

Tiny seating area, lengthy wait times, and a serious lack of hot sauces have pretty much X-ed this Mexican spot off of my list of would-be lunch locales. Despite a simple order of enchiladas suizas + rice & beans, it took an unusually long time to emerge from the kitchen(which is, interestingly enough, shared with Spizzico’s; I guess they prepare tamales and tortellini simultaneously). I found myself tapping my foot, killing time on my phone, anxiously waiting for my hot lunch. When it finally came out, it did so on a real plate with plastic silverware. Better than a Styrofoam plate and spork, I suppose, but really, they couldn’t spring for actual forks & knives? It wasn’t a bad meal, but I don’t recall it being cheap. Good enchiladas, decent rice, lame beans that were hardly ‘refried’. The highlight for me was definitely the roasted Jalapeño pepper, served whole and salted in a paper boat. Totally worth the extra $ 0.85 a-la-carte charge. Tasty horchata, too. So you’ve decided on dining in, but don’t know where to sit. Don’t worry, you only have like 7 possible seats to pick from. The entirety of Señor Jefe’s lobby is slightly larger than my apartment bathroom. Add to that the fact that when asked for hot sauce, all I received was a small tub of green salsa picante. Apparently this joint serving Mexican food had no bottled hot sauces, which for me is a GLARING oversight. C’mon guys, even a sh*tty Denny’s has like 3 or 4 to pick from. All y’all offer is 1, made in-house? Weak sauce.

I almost cancelled my order based off of some of these reviews. I stopped over in this area purposely to grab some pizza and to write a review. I saw this taco place where I parked so I was tempted to walk in. It was one other customer present so my wait time was little. The cashier was really friendly and I felt she was honest. I asked a lot of questions regarding the menu and I also asked what was good and what wasn’t so great. She told me without a hitch. I ended up ordering two chicken tacos and one steak taco with a side of cheese quesadilla. Since I originally went for pizza I inquired as to which pizza spot on the front had the better pizza and she informed me that they were connected to Spizzico. So me still being curious I ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza. She told me she didn’t like the sausage because she felt it had two many seasonings and the spinach slice wasn’t fresh spinach but canned spinach. I didn’t test the pizza because after I opened it, it looked cold even though I felt it and it was warm(I think I’ll give it to one of my cousins). However my tacos were pretty good. Luckily I decided to dine in despite me ordering take out because I ordered no tomatoes on my tacos and my steak taco was covered in tomatoes. It seemed she was hesitant to take it back but I insisted on receiving another one nicely. I would recommend Señor Jefe just check your order.

If I could give no stars, I would. Señor jefe is a poor excuse for Mexican food. Every local ep person told me it was good food, after trying it, I wonder if there people ever leave elmwood park… I ordered the nachos with ground beef. The ground beef tasted like it had been thawed out and frozen multiple times. Taco Bell beef tastes better than theirs. I was honestly so disappointed. I couldn’t even finish them. One thing is for sure. I’ll never order here again. If you’re looking for a better local place: taconazo off harlem and diversey. Very good food there …

Seriously I have ordered delivery from here 3 times and the first time was ok but the 2nd and 3rd time was a joke they messed my order up. When I called to complain about my order being messed up they tried to make it seem like it was my fault… What a joke. I had my receipt in my hand while I was on the phone. These people are rude and disorganized. I LITERALLYSIGNEDUPFOR UnilocalJUSTWARNPEOPLENOTTOORDERDELIVERYFROMTHISPLACE.

I order delivery from here a few times a month at my job, we always love the food. We usually opt for the authentic tacos, simply onions, cilantro, and lime on the side. Decent pricing, fast delivery, and good food.

I have had my share of Mexican food and let me tell you. There torta milanesa is so good. Fresh ingredients like avocado! All the condiments were fresh and I got a delivery and it wasn’t soggy at all. My husband usually orders the burrito. It’s pretty big! Loaded with steak, rice, beans. There salsa is also very tasty. I would recommend this place if in the EP area

Decent food here. I had a steak burrito, cheese quesadilla and chicken tamale. All were good — the tamale was authentic in the corn husk and a little hot with their green chile sauce. This place isn’t as authentic as small taquerias, or Mexican restaurants in Little Village and Pilsen. But it’s a step above El Famos, Taco/Burrito King and the like. And not as «americanized» as Chipotle. If you’re up for a good take-out meal located in the midst of a plethora of restaurants, give Señor Jefe a try.
