This place is okay. Just not the most professional in my opinion. For a great haircut I recommend going somewhere else.

Ever since my family and I first went to K. E. Meridian(for about 8 years) we have gone to them every time we’ve needed a haircut, hair color or waxing. They’re so friendly and welcoming I would recommend them to anyone!

I’ve lived in Elmhurst for 5 months and haven’t had my haircut since we moved. I have used a stylist downtown Chicago who is very experienced and trains other stylists in new cuts. So, yeah, I’m use to a very good cut. I called and they were able to get me in today with Ed. He is great! He was able to reshape my hair to what it use to look like. He consulted me frequently about how much to take off which is great. Then he styled using a new technique to give me soft curls with the blow dryer and a round brush. Loving my hair!

I moved to the area and followed Unilocal review to find a place for a haircut. Ed was very friendly and did his work professionally and quick. I felt very comfortable at my first appointment and use them since. Highly recommend.

First, please note that I’m writing this review over five weeks since my haircut. I bring this up because I don’t want you to think I’m anything less than objective. I had my hair cut twice by Teresa at K E Meridian. During the first visit, her hands were shaking the entire time. Really shaking. Nervous with new customers? Way too much coffee? Medical condition? It was quite disconcerting to see the scissors shaking so much, but she somehow managed to do a decent job. Not great, but decent. I thought perhaps she was just nervous with new customers, so I was complimentary and left a generous tip. A few weeks later, I tried her again, thinking I’d probably have a better experience, and I got the worse haircut of my life. Her hands were shaking again — really bad. It made me nervous just watching her try to hold the scissors still. I’m wearing my hair quite short, and she did so many things wrong. She cut wedges out of my hair telling me it would look fuller, but the wedges she cut out were a LOT of hair. She thinned my hair and cut so much out that on the top of my head I had a row of hair that was less than an inch long and stuck straight up. She couldn’t get the back straight, and she kept trying over and over, and the back kept getting shorter each time. I finally said let’s not cut any more. Let’s just stop. Then she insisted that her co-worker could do it, and that person made it even worse. She kept cutting one angle, then another, then another, and finally I had to refuse another try. When I got home, I looked at the back of my hair and couldn’t believe how bad it was. Not only was it way too short, but the left side made a square at the bottom of my ear and the right side had a big angle and looked nothing like the left side. I immediately called Mario Tricoci and told them I needed an emergency haircut. There, a team of three people inspected my hair and brainstormed about what to do. Their trainer happened to be there, and he told me it was unfixable. He said there was no haircut that would make it right, the best they could do was make it better, and it would be months before they could make it look good. One of their people talked to me about the possibility of wearing a wig for a few months. Finally, someone evened out the cut as best she could. It took her one pass to get the back perfectly straight, but of course by then it was already almost up to my earlobes. I hesitated to tell this story for the longest time, because I don’t want to ruin someone’s career. But this person should not be cutting hair.

So we mostly see Ed here. The place is family owned my his mother Karen. My husband introduced me to this place before we were married and my son and I are now regulars. Ed is great with my 3 y/o son and gives great hair cuts to him from the mowhawk to a regular boy’s cut. He started going here as a baby. I think he only cried once– maybe. He’s cut my hair too. I know this sounds bad but I’m usually afraid to let white people cut my hair because I have that typical crazy frizzy Puertorican hair that has taken me years to figure out what product works, but he knows what he’s doing. My curls are not as tight as they used to be before having my son, but they can still be a challenge. Anyhow, he has cut and moused it, and has cut and blow dried it straight. It always looks good. MOSTOFALL — HEISANAWEOSMEMASSEUSE. He truly has a gift. My husband used to set my up randomly for a massage every now and then(he used to go to him for years before he met me.) as a gift. I didn’t know how stressed by body was until after I had a massage and felt great. Then when I got pregnant, massage became neccessary. I’m 4’11 and had an 8lb 8 oz baby. So my back was in a mess of pain when I was pregnant. So I instead of taking pain meds to help my back pain, I would go to Ed for a back massage every other week. This helped significantly! Post pregnancy I got upper back pain behind the should after my c-section from carrying my enormous bundle of joy. Again, massage helped soooo much. It’s horrible to have your back pretty much lock up on you, but Ed was very patient. So overall, besides great haircuts, this place has been therapeutic for me as well. It’s never akward, which at first I thought it would be with a man masseuse. He’s totally professional, decent, and respectful. My experience is that it’s a very welcoming place of a nice small family owned salon, but with upscale and professional services. Because they are an Aveda salon, the prices are a little more on the higher end, but it’s totally worth it when you know you’re going to be provided with great results — especially when you have kids that you want to sit still during a hair cut! :)

This is a cute salon with great prices. They use Aveda products which I love! I always leave smelling so good! I’ve gone for hair cuts and up-do’s for weddings. I have never left unsatisfied!!! My stylist is very friendly and professional. She makes me feel at ease when getting hair cuts, letting me dictate the cut but also giving her professional opinion. I’ve even turned some family members into going for services just because of this great find. With that, the stylists seem to suit the needs of different age ranges — being on the cutting edge of trends but also those traditional/safe hair cuts too. The salon is easily accessible, and I’ve hardly ever had problems scheduling appointments — even last minute!

I went to this salon/spa because of a «welcome to the neighborhood» which gave me a free haircut and finish and a $ 80 facial for $ 50 + $ 50 of free Aveda products(so, basically $ 200 worth of products and services for $ 50). I’d never had a facial before and so decided to give it a shot. All I can say is WOW. Ed made me feel incredibly welcome and relaxed. It was the most enjoyable hour that I can remember. I felt like a whole new person when I was done! David did my hair. I have kind of a difficult haircut, and no one ever gets it right no matter where I go(I usually just go to the cheap places because it never matters how much I pay, so I might as well pay as little as possible). I was really nervous at first because after I explained my hair cut the first time, David didn’t once ask«Any shorter?» or «Do you want it off the ears?» He just started cutting, then blowdrying, then styling… and I just thought for sure we’d get to the end and it would be too long or whatever, but, no, ITWASPERFECT! He knew exactly how I wanted my hair with the most minimal explanation, and it came out absolutely beautiful. I’ve had the same haircut for 8 years and when I got home the first thing my husband said was how great it looked. The prices are very reasonable for the haircuts, manicures, and pedicures(although I can’t speak for the facials because this was my first one) and the staff is very professional, and extremely friendly. I will definitely be back. Update: True to my word I have been back many times and continue to be amazed. David is an artist with those scissors, and remembered me and my haircut immediately although it had been two months since the ONETIME I had been there. He even complimented me on my new tattoo, remembering that I hadn’t had it last time I was there! Simply amazing… I’m so happy to have found K.E. Miridian!
