Duane Reade

This is in reply to the negative review by Ling. Z. First of all, this store has never had a manager by the name of Guru Sagar or any similar name. Secondly, all the employees here are very respectful and friendly towards the customers. There are no nasty and disgruntled employees working here. The store is always clean and well-​organized. It looks nothing like the way he described it. Either the individual who wrote the previous review is lying or he is confusing this store with another one.

Another horrible walgreen/​duane reade. Shelves are messy, store is cramped and disorganized. Long line at the cash register, only one register open at the time and the cashier was nasty. Asked her if there are more of certain toilet paper in the back because shelf is empty and they might have more in the back since its a big pack item. She then turned toward the man standing close by and asked if there’s more in the back. The man with a name tag, Guru sagar, manager, then said impatiently, go ask the floor person, how would I know!
Definitely not the way to do business! I doubt they care… There are no one on the floor, that’s why I came to the cash register! Overall, I like to give 0 star if possible! With a manager like that, no wonder the employees are nasty and disgruntled.

Working right by this particular location, I’ve been here several times. This review is WAY delayed, but I’ll try to get it all.
Pharmacy: I’ve had nothing but great experiences with the staff. My insurance was verified very quickly and although I had to return to work right after dropping off the Rx, the pharm tech promised to call as soon as it was ready. AND she diiiid :) they also suggest cheap over-​the-​counter alternatives.
Beauty: the range in product really still surprises me. They sell some brands and shades that go above and beyond drugstore range. The products in this section are worth the trip alone!
Overall DR is kind of pricey for a drugstore, but this location tries its hardest to match their standards with those sometimes ridiculous prices. This store is big, clean, and ready with the friendliest staff.
Also, idk if they run a tight ship, but to have never seen an employee just standing around. EVERYONE is always cleaning, restocking, or running the counters. Even the managers!

This review is based on the service at the pharmacy. I’ve had chronic horrible service with the female pharmacist with a lisp. I can’t remember her name but that next time I find out I will post it here for all to avoid her. She’s not familiar with customer service at all.
On more than one occasion I’ve dropped of a prescription returned to pick it up and then she says my insurance is not working for my Rx. I called my insurance while at Duane Reade and my insurance proceeded to tell me that the the medicine was approved and that the pharmacist was not coding the Rx correctly. They advised me to tell the pharmacist to call the insurance 1 – 800 number.
The pharmacist kept asking me to make another the call to the insurance for the coding. I kept telling her she needed to call the insurance for the instructions herself. Talk about lazy!!!
