We were so disappointed. Small portions, over priced, and less than stellar quality. Waitress seemed genuinely angry that we didn’t wish to order dessert. I would pass it by next time.

Off the right along highway 3. Try the sautéed lobster roll with the shoe string rings. HUGE chunks of lobstah. Outstanding! Friendly service too.

They opened for 11 am but allowed us in for a table at 10:45 am. Friendly staff and fast service. Local draft beer at $ 4 which was a great price. Clam chowder was tasty and not chewy but not hot enough. Lobster was hot and served with a lot of butter on the side but a little chewy and not the best we had while visiting ME. Local draft beer, small clam chowder, and a lobster with butter came to $ 30 with tax and tip not included. Somewhat pricy compared to other lobster pounds we visited in the area. Their backyard garden area was very nice. Gateway Lunts is worth a visit

Lobster roll is tasty, but not meat packed. Onion rings were very good. Pie was great with tasty Maine blueberries.

The first thing you notice at Lunt’s is the wonderful aroma of wood smoke. I ate there for the 2nd time in 3 days and loved the sautéed lobster roll, sweet potato fries and onion rings. The blueberry pie was a delicious finish to a great lunch. I’m not a beer drinker, but my cousin loved the Drop Dead Red beer. The service was outstanding! You can do all your souvenir shopping at the same time, as they have lots of cute tchotchkes, in a state of delightful chaos. Don’t pass by this lobster pound!

Come for the food but enjoy the kitschy chachka. Don’t miss the onion rings! Corn on the cob was perfection as it is often over cooked. This family has been at it for over 45 years and the food tells the story. My husband is Persian and we felt no «attitude» as noted by another reviewer. I will admit that«Grandma» was not the warmest but her husband and the young waitress we had were delightful. Prices are a little high but it’s the same everywhere. Don’t miss the lovely garden out back too!

The lobster is the best, smaller lobster but it’s the most delicious ones, better than bigger one. And they have the most delicious onion rings, love them

My wife and I made this our first stop for lobster on a vacation to the area. It seemed to be in a convenient location on the way out toward Acadia and Desert Island. It was just after the lunch hour and the place was about half filled. The first thing to note was all of the gift items you could buy EVERYWHERE around the place. A little overwhelming and really doesn’t help the atmosphere in my opinion. The host gave us choice of area to sit, we stayed on the cluttered inside. We ordered a whole lobster and fried clams. The lobster was wonderful tasting as well we’re the clams. The service seemed to be short handed because we were never checked on… really only saw the waitress to order, receive our meal, and receive the check. Never offered refills. Never asked how we were doing. Good food. Less than average service. I So want to see them succeed because it looks like the place has wonderful history… however it needs some work on the cluttered«touristy» atmosphere and some help with its service staff

This place is … well … tacky, quirky, over-priced and thoroughly average. I flew my small plane to Bar Harbor yesterday, just for a Lobster Roll. Lunt’s is right outside the airport, so that’s where I went. You can hardly walk through the place, it’s so cluttered with nonsense. Apparently the owner formerly owned a «gift shop and restaurant» across the street. When that one went out of business, she moved all the junk to this restaurant. Christmas ornaments, Beanie Babies and unidentifiable junk was hanging from every surface in the building. The service was mostly non-existent. The Lobster Roll was tasteless and the roll wasn’t grilled. The french fries were the frozen, «processed fries» and made me yearn for a Burger King fry … a scary thought. The corn on the cob wasn’t edible. How can you mess up corn on the cob? They figured out a way. The total tab for 2 lobster rolls, a small french fry, an ear of corn and 2 sodas, was about $ 40, before tip. I get better lobster rolls at my home in Florida and at less than ½ that price. A restaurant to avoid.

Had the lobster stew, the lobster mac ‘n cheese, a hamburger, and onion rings. The lobster stew was great, but the mac ‘n cheese was a travesty: it was instant craft mac ‘n cheese with lobster added and ritz crackers crumbled on top. It was disgusting… we couldn’t eat it, so we tried to pick the lobster out, but even it was rubbery. The onion rings were great.

Lobster shack on side of road. Sit in the picnic area. Nice soft and hard shell lobster. Very tasty. Small portions for sides but worth the while and not expensive

We would not choose to have our lobster dinner anywhere else. Not too crowded– it’s far enough away from the hustle-bustle in to Bar Harbor. I’m giving 5 stars not just because the lobster was the best around, but because the service was first-class. The staff is as friendly as I’ve ever experienced, they treated us like family and they were patient and sweet to our inquisitive daughter. Do not pass Lunt’s up!

Asian Alert! As we entered the place, we felt the animosity from the staff.(its a family owned business). The cashier wifey/grandma is a certified snob. Wont even greet you, not even treat you as human. Worst experience. I came all the way to maine from cali just to have this awful experience. If i could give NO stars! I certainly would!

This place is a ripoff off between the crappy service and food. I get to listen to the owner bitch about how much she pays in credit card fees each month as I use my credit card. This is definitely a tourist trap. Keep driving another 30 minutes and go to Thurston’s lobster pound.

Maine home cooking at its finest! Maybe it was the wood burning boiler out front, or the exceptionally friendly service, but this place on our visit was the best overall restaurant experience in Acadia. The chowder and the bisque/stew were the best I’ve had in Maine, the lobster was tender and sweet. Blueberry Crumble with Ice Cream was unforgettable and delicious. Value:(4.5.5) Food:(4.5÷5) Service(5⁄5) Atmosphere:(4.5÷5)

Why wait until Bar Harbor to eat lobster, when you can eat lobster on the way to Bar Harbor. Yes this place is located half way between Ellsworth and Bar Harbor. It’s very close to the bridge connecting Mount Desert Island to the mainland. When I stepped inside I said to myself«Now this is Maine». The inside has a nice selection of «junk» on the walls and the décor is quite interesting, to say the least. But I loved it. It’s got lots of character. The staff all looked like from the same family, with grandma running the cash register. And all the customers looked to be locals(yes, locals enjoy a good lobster dinner on occasion, not just us cockamamie tourists). Regarding lobster rolls, they serve both types; cold with mayo or hot with butter. Ordering a «lobster roll» will get you the cold with mayo version by default. I got that and it was both excellent and reasonably priced! This place isn’t hard to find. Like I said, it’s very close to the bridge.

This place was on the way home from Acadia National Park. Most lobster shacks in the area are closed for the season(October) so we ended up here because I want another lobster roll one last time. Interior definitely threw me off a bit when I stepped inside. It felt like a souvenir shop/pit stop more than a place to eat. We proceeded to order Lobster mac & cheese and a lobster roll with butter instead of mayo. Portions were very small for the price. But food was okay.

Great place for whole lobster dinners. The only downside was they have inconsistent closing time, depending on the crowd. We came here one night and liked it so much we brought 4 other friends here the next night around the same time and they said«sorry we’re closed… we always close at this time,» even though there were people still eating in there. So sad. Really wanted to give them more business!

This place was on our way so figured why not have lobster one last time before leaving Maine. Granted that the lobsters were very cheap here, however the quality wasn’t that fresh. I’d opt to try out other lobster joints in the area. Still it’s not a bad deal for the price.

Not a bad choice if you need a snack on your way to Bah Habah — but if you can make it to the Trenton Lobster Pound instead, do that. I had a fried fish sandwich which was decent, but the extra money I paid for one slice each of lettuce and tomato wasn’t worth it. My family got the lobster and it was good, but again, kind of silly to have to pay extra for butter when dipping things in butter = pretty much the point of eating lobster. The corn on the cob was also good, but it tasted like it had definitely been cooked in lobster water — ask if you’re vegan or otherwise don’t want the essence of lobster with your vegetables. The plus side: eating outside, nice picnic tables and bathroom, decently fast service.
