I was very displeased, first time ordering here. Was my last, decided to try another location. This food was not all that great, even when your starving. I ordered the seseme chicken, it was horrible.

A little Chinese restaurant with a big kick.
We stumbled upon this place while exploring new food options in Ellington. The first impression was that the place was small and the seating area only had a few tables, but don’t let that give you the wrong idea.
The woman at the counter was very friendly right from the start. We opted to dine in and our food came out quickly. I ordered the General Tso’s Tofu with brown rice. Not only was the dish literally overflowing (very healthy portion), but it was the best Tso’s Tofu I’ve had anywhere. Fantastically fresh broccoli and an excellent sauce. The tofu was just a bit crispy, so the texture was just right. (Not soggy or too tough like many places) Even the brown rice was great. The rice grains were particularly large, for the record.
The other two people at our table ordered Chow Mien dishes and thoroughly enjoyed them as well. For our three dinners and two drinks, the tab was just $ 26. That’s cheap for a dinner for three with leftovers for all of us!
What we also noticed was that the takeout line kept growing. For a small place, not only are they seemingly popular, but the quality does not suffer.

I need to write an update. After several great takeout experiences here we had 2 so-​so ones in a row. Maybe they changed the cook. The flavors were not there in one instance, and the other night we both remarked that the flavors were not there again. And my beef in my lo mein I wondered if it might be «on the verge» and maybe should not have been used. We tend to get the chicken with broccoli for him and beef with vegetables for me, along with egg rolls, which continue to be very good here. We will most likely try this place again because it’s close by, but the quality of the food went from great to so-​so for some unknown reason. I hope the owners read Unilocal reviews, because we want to see that quality back.
