Great place, we were celebrating my son’s BD there 3 years in a row. A lot of fun for all ages. I was shy the first year but the 2 following years I was doing the project too. We are still using all the vases and bowls. He is grown up now but we still hope to come one day to Charline to do something together. Just need to find a time in our busy schedule.

We took our grandkids there for a Glass Fusing session, we all had a great time. We also took a pottery class, and use the bowls we made daily. Helpful instructors, good times!

Fantastic place. Very eclectic selection for everyone in the family! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I would strongly recommend attending one of their pottery classes.

I’ve come out there twice now with girlfriends and we love it! It’s a laid-​back, artistic environment with all the equipment you need to throw or hand-​build pottery. They do a great job in their classes. We loved trying both throwing a bowl on a wheel, which was great, and trying to hand build custom items too. Although in the hand-​building class I did feel like the instructor could have done less ‘for’ me and just instructed with words instead of her hands so much. We’ve been excited to come back and choose fun glazes for the pieces we create. I do have a friend who was unable to find her piece, so they gave her a replacement ‘unclaimed piece’ to glaze, and then when she returned to pick it up, even that one was missing. 3 of us scoured all of the shelves, touching every piece to be sure we didn’t miss it, and it definitely wasn’t there. Other than that though, we do have a great time when we go, and I plan to return to make Christmas gifts for my family.

This was our first time making pottery and it was fun. I really liked actually manipulating the clay, but in the two hour class you get to touch the clay for maybe a total of 35min. That’s just the nature of the class, since we were all beginners, the teacher had to show us first how to do something, then come around the each individual to help us do it.
It seemed like our instructed (the owner) wasn’t super thrilled to be there, but she was nice enough and seemed to be trying to get through the class, so maybe she was having a rough day??? She seemed easily annoyed by the students.
I was really happy with my end product, though we were basically told we were all making bowls — so that’s what we all made.
By the end I was kinda over it — but I am excited to go back and finish up our pieces!

Found this on Groupon and decided to go with my boyfriend. I enjoyed making the pottery but our instructor sucked. She never introduced herself and she just wasn’t very friendly. I found out her name after I asked her for it and her name was Mary. This one lady asked her to help her design a cup exactly how the instructor made hers. And Mary spent more time making hers nicer than helping the lady. A 2 hour class was only about an hour, her instructions were very brief.
I would definitely go back again, just not with Mary.
Mary if you’re reading this, step your game up.

GREAT ART PIECES, JEWELRY, LAID BACK STUDIO CLASSES
I bought a groupon for the pottery class which I used last Friday. There’s plenty of parking lots on either side of the studio. The class accommodate 6 students. The instructor was pretty cool and she gave us instructions first then helped each of us for the whole process. Since it was my first time, I find her approach very helping. I have to go back to finish t and paint the piece and then to collect it but I loved my piece.
The gallery itself is pretty cool with beautiful art pieces and pretty jewelry and they offer you discount with the class.
Make sure to book class well in advance (like a month or so) because the slots fill up pretty fast!!!

The «class» was an employee casually giving piecemeal direction. I felt slightly unsafe given that there was glass involved and I could have really hurt myself. When I went to pick up my pieces no one in the store could help me attach the hook to the pendants I had made. The owner was unavailable and the owners husband recorded all of my information to send me my work. I received a message that I could call back on a Tuesday in the middle of the day (I work) to see about getting my pendants. I never received the project I made and because Ellicott City is almost an hour from me I doubt I will be driving over two hours to get the pendants I had requested be shipped to me given the inconvience of having previously been unable to get my work.

My bf and I used a groupon today. Parking was very easy, right around the corner from the shop. Easy check in and tour was perfect. Up to 6 per class and we had just 4 which was nice. Neela was our teacher and was lovely. Very informative and a nice calm demeanor. Her calm persona made it easy to follow and feel at ease. My bf also enjoyed meeting a local Trini, Camille, while there. Excellent way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Plenty of shops and restaurants to meander through afterwards. Woukd definately recommend.

The store offers an amazing selection of beads and finished artisan jewelry, along with pottery pieces. I’ve gotten some fun things there in the past both for myself and as a gift.
Recently used a groupon for a pottery class. It was very laid back and a lot of fun. I read some other reviews complaining about having to go back to glaze and then to pick up your piece. This is art you’re creating — not shopping off the shelf at Macy’s. I found the staff to be friendly, fun and patient with me as newbie trying my hand at pottery. Loved it so much that I’ve signed up for another class and will also probably take their fused glass class over the summer. Classes are really popular so be sure to sign up well in advance.

My friends and I took a class to make something on the wheel. The instructor was great. We then returned to paint it. Then made a final trip to pick up the final product.

What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon together with a date or friend. I bought the groupon discount and my GF and I had a blast. We also brought a bottle of wine with us and we spun clay to make two vases on our first visit. Mary was our instructor and is a riot and really fun to work with. You have to go back pick up your vases and paint them though, so make sure you don’t plan this as part of a vacation here in Elicott City or else you’ll never leave with your creation. Highly recommend this place to everyone.

I used a Groupon both times, which brought the class price down to $ 20, from $ 40. We technically weren’t supposed to be able to use it a second time, because the owners intended it to be for first-​timers only, but they did honor it because the Groupon didn’t explicitly say that. That was good of them. They also extended the 10% discount on anything in the store to us, which they offer to all people who take the class, even though we had the Groupon. I always appreciate when stores don’t treat deal-​holders like second-​class citizens.
I liked my instructor better the second time. Kate was very patient. There were six of us in the class, but she made time to help each of us. She fixed any weird shapes we ended up with and even gave one of the attendees a new piece of clay when her pot really went wonky. She didn’t limit us to pots; I wanted to make a plate, my friend wanted to make a mug, and another lady wanted to make a pot with a lid, and she helped us through all of those. They have a variety of molds of different flowers and animals you can add to whatever you make, as well as different stamps and designs.
It takes a couple trips back to get a final product; you have to make it, then they fire it once, then you go back to glaze it, and then you can pick it up. It takes two weeks or so between each one. If you can’t get back there super quickly, they’ll keep your piece for up to four months.
