I was pleasantly surprised by how well-maintained this property seems. I was concerned that it being so close to the highway that I might be kept up by traffic noise, but I was given a room on the farthest corner away from it and wasn’t bothered once. The staff were pleasant and efficient. The rooms are large, with full kitchens, and well-appointed. Would definitely return if I need to visit Ellicott City again.

Noise! Lots and lots of Noise! Too close to the highway, and you can hear everything from above and around the room from other guests slamming doors stomping their feet, chit chattering. This is not the place for a quiet rest. Many things feel old and dated and worn out. I even spotted a hole in a wall. This is not what expect from Marriott but I guess im really paying for location. This place will be my very last resort if I ever have to be in this area again.

Nope. After my March review I had a message from their GM apologizing for the grotty room & bad breakfast hygiene. I always appreciate when a business is proactive so I tried them again. Wish I hadn’t. I arrived at 11:15pm, tired and ready for a good nights rest. The sullen desk clerk assigned me a 1st floor handicap room — «we’re full» she huffed when I asked for a higher floor. So I spent my night listening to folks stomp around above me as RI’s are notoriously thin ceilinged. My room also had a beautiful view of the building AC units which ran all night long… loudly. When you enter the room there are placards telling you to make sure windows are locked — and one of mine was not. When I arrive at 11pm to a dark room I certainly don’t want to be worried about the possibility someone’s gotten in through an unlocked window. My bathroom? Full of mold and soap scum. The iron leaked and was so old all the markings were worn off. No ironing board — meaning I had to call for one & wait for one to be brought. All I ask from a hotel is a quiet nights rest & the ability to make myself relatively presentable in the morning — that’s apparently too much to ask from this RI. I can’t envision a circumstance where I’d willingly stay here again. If this is how Marriott treats Gold members, I’m switching to Hilton. Also, the BEST part of the stay was waiting in the lobby to get picked up & hearing Marriott Corporate call the front desk(I emailed them) and getting to listen to all the front desk peeps be like«well, what did she expect? She checked in at 11pm». Well, I expected a CLEAN, SAFE and QUIET room which isn’t what I got. So add unprofessional staff to the list of reasons this location is on my «no-go» list.

Awesome rate on a two bedroom/two bath room with a fireplace this weekend with our group of four and other family members. We were across the hall from each other — both rooms were large, spacious, clean and nicely furnished and decorated. Fireplace was a NICE additional, however this was a bizarrely warm weekend in December and the hallways and eventually our room were over 75 degrees. We tried to put on the air conditioning, fan and had to open windows to cool down the room. Nicely laid out buffet breakfast and very friendly staff. Even better is they had a basketball available and our smaller kids were able to play with some of the other kids staying there. Close to Ellicot City for really neat, unique downtown experience. We’ll be coming back soon!

I always love Residence Inn when I’m travelling. Being a long time member of Marriott Rewards, I try to stay in an associated brand when I’m on the road. I find the service just a bit better and better amenities, generally. It’s not a Four Seasons or Fairmont, but it doesn’t need to be. The room prices are usually average to below average for upper middle scale hotels of like quality, such as regular Marriotts, Hampden Inn, Fairvew Suites, etc etc, sitting somewhere between $ 109 and $ 150 a night. Perhaps that’s high to you, but I like sleeping places I know are going to be clean. I’ve never been disappointed at a RI. But for value, I think RI beats the others. They are all studio suites equipped with a ktchenette, fridge, big screen TV, vanity bathroom, and couch. Most hotel brands would consider rooms of comparable size at luxury suites and charge double. At a RI, you get that standard for a better price, so you know your room will always be large. All RI, that I’m aware of, allow pets(although the rates are fairly high at the $ 100 to $ 150 a night pet rate). And every RI I’ve patronized have had free coffee, breakfast and light dinner snacks(during the week at least). This RI was no different. We arrived late at night, but the front desk clerk was friendly as can be and got us a room quickly. They asked my membership, and awarded my points and we were off to slumberland. The room was as expected: clean, large, equipped, cool on a warm evening and ready for dream time. Upon check out, the clerk(a different fellow) was extremely helpful, polite and wished me safe travels. Although it was lucky to find, as the exit off the bypass was unmarked(it’s situated on the same exit as Bob Evans), we were lucky to find it. Oh yeah, free WiFi. Believe it or not, that’s not always the case in major hotel chains.

I loved my stay at the Residence Inn. Only stayed for one night for a friend’s birthday. The room was spacious, clean, and modern. I did find it weird that there was only one trash can for the entire room. I also couldn’t locate the climate control unit in the room. I wasn’t overheated or anything, its just one of the things I always look for just in case. There was a lot of parking, front desk staff was very friendly and even offered to give me extra time to get out of my room if I needed it. Would love to stay here again. It was an amazing hotel.

Stay — 3 nights for business purposes Review — The room was clean but seemed dated. I walked into the room later at night and the room was freezing. I couldn’t fall asleep because I was cold so I thought I would jump online and get some work done. Wrong! The Internet was horribly slow. I am in technology and I haven’t seen these speeds since the old dial-up days. It took forever for a page to load. I ended up using my Verizon card to get work done. If you need functional Internet, don’t choose this hotel.
