The paragliding facility is in the outskirts of Catskill Mountains that provide scenic views an unbeatable wind conditions as opposed to sites near large cities. Ray was a cool dude who is a total adrenaline junkie and has very interesting stories. He made the lessons have its own style. However, I would keep in mind LESSONS are strictly LESSONS. It’s a sport. You need time to learn and gain the mechanics before stepping out to the field. That being said, there are tandem glides where you are suspended in air but that’ll cost you. Overall, not a bad experience if you get a good deal and there’s tons of hiking trails nearby so it can become a weekend event. Definitely want to look more into paragliding now.

Went last weekend for the introduction class and it was definitely worth it. It was fun and you learn a lot at a good pace. Weather was great and I was able to improve the techniques with every try. Looking forward to getting into this sport and doing the certification to be able to jump tandem and then solo. Great class!

Drove 3 hours from nyc to be disappointed by this paragliding facility. we get to the place and were told by some guy to look for Ray somewhere in the field(thats occupied by a bunch of people spread out all across the field). had to hunt around in order to find him… no welcome center for sign ups. very inconvenient. insects were literally everywhere! the whole thing was supposedly 3 – 4 hours long but i left after an hr. the wind never picked up and when it did, not even Ray could manage the sail. very hot no wind(yes i understand its nobodys fault) barely did anything flies in my face every second(no, im not exaggerating) horrible

It’s hard to express what a great idea it is to learn paragliding with Ray at Adventure Sports. I’m at the landing zone after having flown my 3rd flight and caught my first thermal. I felt safe every step of the way and the rate of progress was always in keeping with my abilities. If you have any curiosity at all about learning to fly, and there must be some if you are reading this, visit the field and meet with Ray. Living the dream starts at day 1.

I’m a hang gliding pilot looking to become bi-wingual. I interviewed a couple of instructors and found Ray to be the best fit of style and personality to my own. I’ve had six lessons so far and find myself with a sore face at the end of each day, for having smiled so much. Ray’s a great pilot and a great instructor.
