I always heard great things about this restaurant, ate there wondering why I did and I also wonder why people don’t go to the waffle house down the street which is way better food and way more reasonable prices, I know the waffle houses really garbage and ugly but the food is just as good and you can save $ 20 I guess they make the food bland because all the customers are old it’s the only thing I can think of

I rarely write a subpar or negative review. But, here goes. Walked in, seated right away on a Saturday at 1100AM. The server, who seemed exasperated, welcomed us in a hurried manner and asked us if we knew what we wanted, we had just sat down! Requested coffee and water initially during the time to view the menu. The server returned after about four minutes to take our order, our order came out 35 minutes later. In the interim, no one ever stopped by to ask us if we are OK or wanted more water or coffee. We literally had to get up and go to another servers station to get coffee and water. For coffee creamer and napkins, the same. The server stopped by three times … take our order, deliver the order, drop off the check. After that it was as if we were on our own. I have to admit that I am not impressed or enthusiastic about ever returning to this location again!

Service is excellent here with plenty of down home charm, this place reminds me of the places my dad took me as a child, locally owned and operated but they own several locations. When our car club come this way I always have us meet here for breakfast because the food is good. Menu is easy to read and dived in to 2 sections, breakfast and lunch. The lunch menu is 5 pages long which means dinner is also included in that menu. Food is not a stand out however, it is good but not to knock your socks off. It is well worth the trip if your looking for a down home experience. Sitting here I have seen dozens of couples and people who come here everyday as there routine. The staff know them by name most of the time and know exactly what they want with no menu. My only complaint so far is they fill the coffee cup to full to add creamer. Time from order to deliver is 18 minutes and counting but it is very busy. Food has arrived hot and toastie. Over all goof but need some tweeks. So if your ever in Ellenton you should try this place, Popi’s Place.

5 stars because I can’t give this place 6. I met with a large group 40 Plus people for breakfast the staff handled large group quickly and without error. Food was exceptional the best chicken fried steak I’ve had a very long time. You should be able to cut a chicken fried steak with your fork and at Popi’s you definitely can it was light and tender and tasty excellent with my eggs and homefries. I recommend this place to anyone in the Ellington area or for that matter just take a Sunday Drive down to Ellington’s off 301 excellent.

This place is excellent! Little homey, country inside with good service and real good! We’ve been here several times and each time it’s been great. I was surprised at how big the omelet was and how perfectly cooked the grits were! The Spanish guy serving us, was very nice and kept our water and coffe cups full. My fiancé ordered the big boy breakfast and the bacon was again crispy, big and cooked to perfection. Eggs, french toast… We will definitely go again.

A Greek diner reminiscent of NYC. Packed on Sunday. Spanikopita was OK but not flaky enough. They, obviously, don’t sell much so it sat in a pan with something on top of it. Understandable. But…$ 1.99 for a cup of coffee? It tasted like weak pencil shavings tea. Starbucks small Pike is cheaper. That, alone, shut the door for me. Insulting.

The food was just ok. I was expecting better because of other people’s reviews. Portion sizes were small. One of their signature dishes is corned beef hash, but it was out of the can. The grits were extremely bland… like retirement center grits. To say their scrambled eggs were dry was an understatement. The homemade biscuits were huge, fluffy and delicious. The staff was quick and friendly. This place was just ok.

This is one of our most favorite places to go for breakfast! Popis Place keeps it gangster with their terriffc specials and delicious biscuits. The diner is one of many Popis locations, This is by far the best location in my opinion. In fact, it is the only real diner-esque location in Palmetto.

Love this diner! Basic breakfast offerings. If they have pecan waffles on the specials board, try them. Service is friendly and fast!

Popis IV is your standard mom and pop breakfast join. Most everything comes out of a can, or was frozen, so the way they should attempt to set themselves apart is by offering up great service. Sadly, that doesn’t happen here. The staff is a mix of geriatrics that cannot here, or remember what was said, thus we were waiting and waiting as our waitress rambled about trying to figure our order and our ticket out. If you’re desperately hungry you can stop in, but you may be better off with some Burger King.

Finally got to try Popi’s Place… After a short wait to get in. We ordered the Double Special. Two fluffy pancakes, two eggs and bacon! It was well worth the wait for sure! The pancakes were fresh, fluffy and delicious! The eggs(mine were scrambled) were also fluffy and delicious! Will return to try something new! Great service and the atmosphere was OK, a bit crowded but manageable!

Old style family joint Notthiing Really great on the menu, food ok not that great service is great tho and friendly, most severs are older people kinda odd. Mostly older folks eat here due this is a high senior area I think that’s why they still in business. Restroom not that clean and seating area needs updating. Other that its a ok place but not the greatest tho.

It was good family dining for a decent price. Don’t come expecting former. But it was simple food done well. Service was friendly and efficient. Dixie Cup was our server. Definitely not the young spring chicken, but she patiently dealt with 3 kids and a picky husband. Décor is as simple as the restaurant. Nothing fancy, but tables, floors, and bathrooms were clean. This gave me hopes that the kitchen was as well. Since this is close to our via it’s home, we will return again to have some Chipped Beef and gigantic pancakes done well.

My son and I have eaten here a couple of times for lunch and generally like their food. We get their fried chicken sandwich which is an unbelievably large portion for $ 8. I eat the whole thing, but I feel it afterwards(LOL) Had a breakfast here once too. A bit pricey and the meal was OK. Had whatthey call the basic breakfast with eggs, bacon and homefries. It was OK. Bacon was a bit burnt, but the eggs were cooked the way I like them. It’s a good value, especially at lunch.

Had 2 turkey dinners. $ 9.95 each. Yellow gravy(chicken?) not appetizing. Potatoes one baked and the other mashed were not hot. Stuffing very poor, StoveTop Stuffing would have been an improvement. And no cranberry sauce. Not especially very good turkey. Won’t try them again.

We used to eat here a ton until the menu changed and the prices went up. If you want an OK home-cooked meal(breakfast, lunch, or dinner), then stop by Popi’s. It’s pretty good food, but for lunch and dinner, you could easily eat at Chili’s or Applebee’s and have better food. The waiters/waitresses are very nice and helpful, and the specials can be a good deal if you catch them. Their specialty is the authentic Greek Gyros for lunch with homemade tazitki sauce. Great place to eat, just need to bring back the old menu and old prices back. I’ve seen their«original» crowd get smaller and smaller because of the prices.
