If there was less than a star I would give it. My friend won a trip to Ireland and they reneged on the trip that she won for St Patrick’s day. They used this as an opportunistic marketing event which they made a lot of money. Come to to find out they reneged on the trip the prior year. When businesses offer free trips or prizes, we expect them to follow through with the ‘prize’. You don’t offer something and let your loyal customers down. Not a good business practice. Feeling badly for a friend.

We came to Elkton to get out of the city for a few days. We wanted to check out the Main Street area and grab a bite to eat. There are not many places in the area so we came across this pub. We had some lunch there, and it was pretty nice. You won’t find a big fancy menu, but it is a pub so you shouldn’t expect that. I enjoyed the wet beef sandwich with some fries. The service was nice and it was a very big open atmosphere. If you’re hungry go ahead and stop in.

I waited a while for them to be open before I tried they’re Restaurant. I waited until Lunch today. I should have listened to their reviews. I had a Reuben Sandwich and the friend with me had a Cuban Sandwich. They offered a Garden Salad in place of chips/fries, which was good. Friend wanted a Caesar Salad instead but there was a 3.00 up charge they think? Rueben Sandwich was weak… Entire meal was Mediocre at best. No Choice offered between Bar or Dining Room. We were sat in the bar area and waited on by the bartender. I won’t be going back.

Laughable! The bartender made us wait until he finished doing shots with a group of people at the bar before he even acknowledged our presence! We left! We’ll wait for the bankruptcy and the change of ownership before we ever go back!

Horrible food and worse service. The soup was cold and the waitress said that it was at the bottom of the pot so we’ll only get a half bowl and she’ll discount the price. We also ordered steamed shrimp which had gone bad and smelled like ammonia. I sent it back, the waitress never apologized or asked us if we wanted a different meal. She just handed me the bill, charging full price for the half bowls of soup. It was an awful experience!

Great food, cold beer, warm fire, Irish theme on point. Stopped in for lunch. We sat at the bar and the bar tender was with us immediately. She was very pleasant and had a great sense of humor. She also told us asap what they were out of and the soup was, which just shows how fresh items were on the menus. We ordered the Ruben and the Ham and Bree wrap, they were both delicious. Plenty of beers on tap, and fresh. The layout of the whole place was great. To top it off the real wood burning fireplace was crackling in the back of the bar. Staff came out periodically to stoke it.

Minihanes is close to me, so it’s easy to swing into downtown and order a meal. Luckly, I live close to a unique eatery such as this where the owners are visible, the music and atmophere are soothing, service is with a smile and the food by Chef Paul is delicious. Today, I’m here for Sunday breakfast of French toast and slices of fresh fruit. The quality of everything here is only the best. My server Bailey, is pleasantly attentive. Even if I wasn’t within walking distance, Minihanes is a destination.

Stopped in on a Friday night and the place was inundated with a last minute rehearsal party that threw the kitchen into panic mode. Sat at the bar and they told us it would be a couple of hours if we wanted to order, so we opted to wait and have a few drinks. The owner(or manager) comped us 2 drinks and the meal! That alone is not why I am giving 5 stars. They did a nice job with the place. Personally, I’m more of a fan of darker wood versus the oak they used for the bar, but hey, it’s not my place. The menu is pretty much limited, but sticks to the Irish Pub themed fare. Which is how it should be;(if you are looking for pizza, chicken fingers or nachos, don’t go to an Irish pub). In general, most of Elkton doesn’t have much to offer, but the small, old town center is worth the visit, along with Minihane’s

I do not understand the negative reviews(well maybe except for the menus – not that big a deal, but could be improved on)). We had dinner here tonight and it was awesome! We were greeted right away and got to pick our table. We had to sit in the bar area because the dining room was reserved for a Rotary Club meeting. Our table was quaint and very nice. The bartender was our server and he was soooo nice and very friendly. He took our drink order right away. He was quick to take our food order as well. My husband and I shared the duck fries — YUMMY! French fries with duck confit and truffle oil! My husband had the Guinness stew and I had the Shepards pie. Both were absolutely cooked to perfection, served hot and DELICIOUS!!! The portions were very substantial and the prices very reasonable. We were served our dinner before we even had a chance to finish the fries. So service was excellent. He came over and asked us how everything was and we told him great. He even introduced us to the head chef, Chef Paul who took over about six months ago and he plans to make some changes to improve the menu selections. The atmosphere was very nice and quiet – but it was a Tuesday night. A good old-fashioned Irish pub! So to all you negative reviewers – if you have not been there within the last six months, please try again, as you will not be disappointed.

Overpriced! Husband had beef stew for $ 13 and it was a small bowl. Tasted ok but nothing to write home about. For that price it should have been enough to fill him up and it wasn’t. I had onion soup and it was good. It was $ 9, which isn’t terrible for onion soup, but the portion size was very small. Drinks were expensive as well and my mixed drink(margarita) was weak.

Not a big fan of this place. Definitely miss the Howard house! The menu is not very big. The items are a bit pricey. I wish they had more options in food and drinks especially since they are located on Main Street of elkton where locals like to grab a quick reasonable priced lunch.

The interior reminds me of a basement. It’s quaint with the exposed stone and brick walls. The womans restroom is spacious and clean. The bar area is cool. Thats’s the good. Now for the bad. Our server was terrible, the food pricey, portions small and the food was mediocre. It was so loud from the adjoining bar we had a hard time hearing our own conversation. We like to try new places, checking Minihane’s off that list, no way was it worth the hour drive there. Will never go back.

The interior of this restaurant is beautiful. Beautifully and simply decorated, I felt like I was having an intimate dinner with my dad. Service was very slow. I don’t know if that was because they run on an unhurried time or if the one waitress just had so much to do with the three tables. I got the Shepard’s pie, which was a little bland but piping hot. My dad got the Bangers and Mash, which he scarfed and said was very tasty. I would have expected more Irish beer on tap, but apparently they specialize in Irish whiskey. The bar area seemed busy. It was more or less fully stocked. I would spend a few dollars there. Overall, I would return when I am in town again.

While they did a nice job renovating the old Howard House, the food and drinks are very expensive for what you get. And seriously, how can you claim to be an authentic Irish Pub and Restaurant if you don’t offer boxty?

Went there today for lunch with my family. No kids menu, but all the entrees can be ordered half portioned, which was perfect for the kids. Décor was nice. Server was friendly and prompt. The chef came out to greet us. I got the burger(perhaps a new addition to the menu based on previous reviews?) It was very good, but slightly overcooked. My husband got the Spring Wrap, which was different, but delicious. Overall a great experience and we will be back.

We tried to go here for dinner at 5:45 on a Sunday only to be told that they were done seating for the night. Hours are not posted on the doors or anywhere online, as there is no website. Maybe we should have called first, but before 6 on a Sunday is by no means an abnormal time to go to dinner.

Great food, great atmosphere, probably the most authentic Irish place I’ve ever been to in the US. Maybe some of these other reviewers would rather go to a country all you can eat buffet or something, but if you like a great Irish pub with very good food this is the best place around. Gotta be the best place in Elkton by a long shot

This has taken over the old Howard House but only covers the first floor now. Completely refurbished interior is nice. Long, narrow bar area and a hidden area with tables, benches, and some stools. There is also an alcove for bands. Lots of quality imported and domestic beers on tap at a reasonable price. The brickwork, wood trim, and large fireplace make for a enjoyable place to have a drink. The restaurant, on the other hand, was a disappointment. Most of the dining area has 4 person tables even though most of the diners were couples. This made every table full but with lots of empty seats. We were seated in about 15 minutes on a busy Saturday night. The butcher block table is still outgassing the smell of varnish as of March, 2014. A waitress came quickly with soda bread(excellent!) but we then did not see her even enter the dining area for another 25 minutes. Where was she? «Busy in the back» was her answer. The menu is rather limited with true pub fare. No burgers or crab dishes as is the norm in this area. You can get a sandwich with your choice of meat, cheese, and bread($ 9). Prices are high for Elkton with most entrees $ 17 and up. There are a few interesting Irish dessert items but I did not try one. Food came within 15 minutes of ordering. My Shepherds Pie($ 17) was tiny and bland. I have never paid so much for so little. I can get better at Ball & Thistle or The Whip for less. Server was friendly but as of now I would only go back for the bar.

Great place can’t wait for the kitchen to open. I came back the kitchen is finally open, it was well worth the wait. The food is excellent. The service is a work in progress you can tell it is an all new wait staff.
