I thought part of the mission of goodwill was to offer affordable secondhand items to those who are low income who shop in their stores not to price gouge them. This used sweater costs $ 8.50 and the hat costs $ 6.00 are you kidding me???

This Goodwill used to be a great one but the prices are so outrageous now that it’s almost cheaper to just buy things new. The selection is also not always the best.

Thought everything looked nice but 4 out of the 5 items had the wrong price marked. When I got up to the register, it was $ 20 more than it should have been. I even showed the guy on the sign where it showed the price but he he said«no it’s actually more than that». I saw other customers going through the same thing at the register… Get your prices right please!!! Way overpriced!

This is not the largest Goodwill I’ve ever been to or even close to the largest but since living in Elkton I’ve been very impressed with the selections that come through this place. The staff has always been helpful and cheery when I’ve been there and I’ve actually been able to find what I set out for. This is not always easy to do in a thrift store since it’s usually hit or miss. I went in with the hopes of finding a couple of good frying pans or at least better than the shitty Faberware pans that I had. Will you believe that I walked out of there with 2 All Clad pans? $ 325 worth of pans for $ 15. Find of the century! I’m already a better cook because of these pans. I’ll be talking about that for years to come. So yea, maybe a find like that doesn’t happen every day but it certainly gives this Goodwill a bonus star. Yea, I’m a fan.

Extremely high prices for a place that’s supposedly designed to help people. I think they’re in some sort of storewide competition for who can have the best sales, because it’s the same way at other Goodwill stores. The young workers in there gossip back and forth about their personal business to the point where you want to vomit. Cussing and profanity by unprofessional young girls, chatting with friends that come in to visit. Signs advertise pricing on items, but the catch is when they write«except where otherwise tagged.» Which I’ve learned to mean, if you’ve heard of the brand, they’re gonna hike up the price. As long as it’s a no-name brand in poor condition, you won’t spend a lot. A worn out Under Armour shirt with stains and a tear on the shoulder was $ 9 when you can buy it brand new at the outlet for $ 15. You take your things to the counter and they say, «Ohh you do know that this is actually $ 12 not $ 3 right?» Then they REALLY get you when they label something as «boutique.» Boutique at the Elkton Goodwill means a brand you like, so we jack up the price! A men’s Dickies t-shirt in average condition was $ 8! Dickies is not a top-shelf brand! You can buy them brand new at Walmart for $ 10! I found things still with the Boscovs store tags, clearance priced down to $ 2.00 with a Goodwill tag on them for $ 6! This is how you«help» those less fortunate??? I will never go back!

If you bring them nicely wrapped, clean, undamaged collectibles, they will thrown them in the dumpster. When I caught them doing this as I was leaving with a box of my grandmother’s valuable collectibles, I took the box back and I will never return. This is outrageous! If your store is too full to accept donations, don’t lie to people and then throw good stuff in the garbage. Either refer them to another charity who can use it… or store it for another charity to pick up. Sales of these donations are supposed to fund their job training services. However, based on the unprofessional way I’ve been treated as my visit to this Goodwill location, I think someone needs to go back for more re-training. I love thrift stores, but this particular one is not my favorite. If you do have things to donate, may I suggest you contact one of the other many non-profits in the country? There are so many places that would be HAPPY to have your donations and would appreciate it. Ray of Hope near Port Deposit, the women’s shelter in Elkton, The Equihab horse rescue in North East, various churches, you name it. There is no shortage of needy charities in our area.
