It wasn’t terrible, but it sure wasn’t good. First off the location is terrible! It’s about 20 mins outside of anything of importance in Elkhart. You would think that with such a terrible location, they would do everything in their power to make your stay as pleasant as possible, but alas no such luck. After a clunky check-in, we headed upstairs to our room. We walked in and this stale, musty odor greeted us at the door. No worries because we always carry Febreze just in case. Febreze worked a bit on the smells, but nothing prepared us for the stains on the furniture. The chair and bench had visible stains all over them. It was pretty disgusting! After seeing this we rushed to flip the covers back on the bed to view the sheets. They were clean and smelled freshly washed and this lead us to stay. Takeaways: 1.) Always make sure you stay in North Elkhart and not South Elkhart. 2.) Check Unilocal for real reviews. 3.) All Holiday Inns are not the same.

Stayed during the week for a couple of nights. Atmosphere was friendly and inviting, very filling breakfast with plenty of options. All of the staff we interacted with was willing to go the extra mile. Thank you Elkhart South!

We stayed here twice in late August — on the way to, and the way back from, dropping my daughter at college. The first time, it was OK. I thought it was a decent place if you need to stay somewhere in the Midwest; breakfast was a big asset for us and turned out to be surprisingly good with very nice staff. The free albeit clunky Internet was helpful. And I thought it was clean(contrary to the previous reviewers here). I would have given it about 3 ½ stars. The second stay, however, was not impressive. While in Cleveland, I made a reservation for later that night with my IHG iPhone app. It was for a room with two beds — two queens, I think. We were three adults. When we arrived at 1 a.m., I was told by the night manager that there were no such rooms left — apparently someone had come in and reserved them between my 8 p.m. reservation and our arrival. Instead, we had been put in a king suite, with one king bed and a smallish pullout sofa bed. I went back down to the desk. I was told the IHG app does not sync directly to the local property. The manager accommodated us by giving us adjoining king suites, so it ended OK as far as our staying over. But my lingering dissatisfaction is over the reliability of the online reservation. If an app or online reservation system isn’t a guarantee of a room, then what’s the point of using it? How can I trust it? You can’t expect someone to drive across the country and get burned like that. What if there had been no king rooms either? Next time I will have to try Tripadvisor or app, etc. Perhaps it’s not the property’s fault, maybe it’s IHG’s, but I wouldn’t take my chances there again. Also, did I mention — I was charged $ 25 more for the second stay. To top things off, IHG invites people by email to later review their stay, but seems to spike the review if it reflects dissatisfaction. My first review went up on the IHG web site for the property, but not the second. Instead I got a weird email. It said: «Your review has been approved. We are unable to post your review at this time due to the following: To revise your review please click here.» And the«here» link doesn’t reveal the reason. Odd.

I stayed here last summer for one night. The hotel had bugs of some kind all over the hallways some made it to the room. The room was also dirty. I will never stay at Holiday Inn Express Elkhart again. Go to Comfort Suites down the street this hotel is high quality and very nice.

Please avoid this place… soooo not worth the $. Really a 0 out of 5 stars. Room wasn’t fresh or comfortable… really subpar conditions… couldn’t wait to check out! The least they could do is buy some febreeze with the $ 100 per night they charge. Travel quite a bit for work & play… this is easily one of the worse places we’ve stayed.

Oh how I wish I could give it 0 stars… An absolute nightmare that I will try to condense for you: — Made reservations over a month beforehand for 3 rooms staying for 2 nights — Specifically asked about cancellation policy and was told we could cancel up to 24 hours before our reservation — Called a week prior to cancel one of the three rooms and was told the policy had changed and tough luck — Called the corporate guest relations where they were absolutely no help; we were told that this hotel was independently owned and they couldn’t do anything — Decided to go ahead and stay there and just eat the charge for the 3rd room — Show up to find that our rooms had been cancelled??? — Told that $ 100 took out of my buddy’s debit card to «hold» the rooms was«gone»…told them that either the $ 100 actually did«hold» the rooms or we needed to get that $ 100 back. Told there was nothing that they could do. Every step of the hellish way, we kept being told that there’s nothing they can do. Nobody we dealt with from start to finish was of any help at all. All’s well that ends well, and luckily we drove 15 minutes up the road and stayed at a Quality Inn for less than our original rooms were to be at this dump. I travel a lot for work and have been on many family vacations so I’ve stayed in literally hundreds of hotels. This is the worst experience I have ever had. It was so bad that we are probably going to call the BBB and maybe even file a theft charge for the $ 100 that is now«gone». IFYOUAREGOINGTO A NOTREDAMEGAMEORNEEDTOSTAYINELKHART, INFORANYREASON, AVOIDTHISHOTELLIKETHEPLAGUE! TRUSTME! Anyways, there are much more and better options right up the road off of 80⁄90.
