This review is for the annual crab feed. Such a huge event. All the food is so good; salad, bread, pasta, shrimp, crab, red velvet cake, wine. Lots of great raffle prizes, bar, live music. Hundreds of volunteers to make it all happen.

Yet another one of the amazing charities and non-profit services I’ve discovered during my time in Sacramento. Project Ride is particularly close to my heart because they, like me, find that a deeper connection and interaction with animals is really the best therapy out there. They’ve provided therapeutic recreational horseback riding instruction to hundreds of children and adults with special needs over the years. I’ve met some of their volunteers and they just radiate passion for this cause. Judging from the stream of accolades and praise they’ve received, it’s safe to say that what they’re doing works and works fabulously. Their facility is a little out of the way but well-worth the visit for those seeking their services or just curious!

I went to project ride for a school trip and I had a blast! We got to handle two horses: Luck and Magic. Magic was pretty rowdy at first since he’s new to the crowd. Luck is pretty experienced and used to being around people. We got to groom, palpate, take pulses, and walk the horses. It was my first time around horses and I was slightly nervous but the horse I mainly worked on, luck, made it a lot easier for me. Project RIDE also tends to special needs students by allowing them to work with the horses and such so I thought that was pretty awesome. It’s a great learning experience and I feel everyone should give it a shot if you can. They allow volunteers here too!

This place is truly a gift for families and children living with special needs. I really don’t mind the drive down to Elk Grove from the north side. My son has horse riding lessons here since he has an autism spectrum disorder(ASD) & we have definitely seen improvement with his adaptive skills as well as with his communication. He always looks forward to going here every week. My son loves hugging the horses when he rides them and enjoys the different riding activities that Miss Lauren has planned when he comes. The staff and volunteers are caring and patient. Kudos to everyone who supports this wonderful place!

This place is great in my opinion. They help kids(and adults) to gain confidence through a horse ride. This is a non-profit place that solely runs on volunteers and donations. Just going and volunteering here will make you feel a sense of pride that you are doing something for the community. I have volunteered here before. When you go here, you will understand what makes this place so special. Seeing that children will actually develop through the horses(people got teary eye’d). See the website yourself: . Definitely a place to donate some time if you have any.
