Horrible service. Front cashier was rude and seemed to have a really bad day. The food combos were confusing. Price says $ 6.50 but there’s an additional .75 cents for almost everything you order. Soup was not warm, barbecue was cold.

Well I was going to give this a better review until now. You have a pretty good view of the back room of the kitchen and saw one of the cooks sneezed without covering his mouth and blew into a tissue and didn’t replace his gloves. Fucking disgusting.

Located inside Island Pacific supermarket. The combo plates are good. Combo 1 comes with rice or pancit(noodles), and 1 entrée. Combo 2 comes with rice or pancit, and 2 entrees(some cost extra like the sisig). I like their caldereta beef, but the ginataang kalabasa with sitaw and shrimp is a little spicy for me. Recently tried the 2-item breakfast plates, with beef tapa/hamonado sausage, and beef tapa/bangus(milkfish). Both come with a fried egg and garlic rice. The other great items they have are the lechon and the BBQ chicken or pork skewers/sticks(the sauce is literally awesome sauce, the marinated meat has a kick to it). $ 2.50 each, go with the pork for sure. Tastes better than Grill City’s in my opinion. They open at 7:30AM for breakfast items. When in Elk Grove, this is much closer to home than going to Chowking, Jollibee, or Red Ribbon on Mack Rd. When in Natomas, I’ll stick to GNC Kusina though.

Love this place, so far all the food is great authentic and remind me of my best friends mothers home cooking. In case you’re wondering what type of food Filipino all the way baby. Everything always looks fresh like they just cooked it and has all the original and done the original way no catering to Americans here. If you didn’t grow up on most of this stuff come and learn how to eat it or stay away. Lol serious good eats

Affordable and tasty Filipino food! The restaurant is located inside the Island Pacific Supermarket, so it’s very convenient if work up an appetite while shopping for groceries. Breakfast is open at 7:30 am and you get a ton of food for $ 5 or less. Lunch is a little bit more expensive, but you get a lot of options and is very affordable for the amount of food you get.

4th time ordering food to go from Philhouse. It’s not the best tasting Filipino food, but it will do. I have tried most of their dishes. My faves: Dinuguan, Monggo, Beef Steak, and chicharon bulaklak! Our little one loves their goto. If you don’t have time to cook, and you’re craving for Filipino food, then philhouse is the place to go! can’t beat their combo meal prices!

I ate here once because my parents recommended it. I got the Combo 2 with rice(my cousin ordered extra rice for a small fee — I think it was 75 cents more). It was yummy but you know how your parents’ version of dishes always tastes better because it’s what you’re used to? That’s what it was like. It was just okay. I did, however, really really like the melon drink with little melon chunks. SOGOOD. I’d come back just for that!

Pretty good food for a steam table restaurant. We went to a party that was catered by Philhouse on Sunday. I couldn’t stop thinking about the bistek so I had to come back on Monday for dinner. My BF really liked the bagoongan, much to my surprise, and wanted that along with the BBQ stick. We got the 3 item combo with bistek, kaldereta, and bagoongan. They charge an extra 50 cents for beef items for the combos. So my 3 item combo came to $ 9.50 instead of the posted $ 8.50. We for the pork BBQ stick extra. All told, it was about $ 13.00 for rice and 4 dishes. Not too bad. We got it home and 3 of us shared it. Although they gave us a good amount of rice, it was only good for 2 of the 3 of us. Maybe next time, we’ll get an extra order of rice. This wasn’t my first visit. I previously got a 3 item combo(rice or pansit with 3 side dishes). The only bummer is that if you want to get an item from their grill(i.e. barbeque stick, liempo or grilled fish) it counts as two items. But you just can’t beat the price so I got the barbeque chicken stick, pork sinigang. bistek and beef kaldereta. I was super craving the sinigang so I dug into that first. I was really disappointed because the food quality of this dish was substandard. When you cook beef, chicken or pork in a soup, you have to skim the foam that rises to the top. If you don’t your soup gets a gritty waxy taste to it. I don’t think they did that with this soup. Plus all I got were bones with no real meat in it. The soup also didn’t have enough of the sour tamarind flavor that characterizes sinigang. For some, this is a matter of personal taste. I wish this was the case, but with this soup I could not taste ANY of the tamarind flavor. However, they made up for it with the kaldereta, bistek and chicken stick. All three of these items were on point! The beef for the kaldereta and bistek was tender and easy to cut. Most places either don’t cook the beef enough or they use cheap cuts of meat that get tough. The chicken stick which I ate later on in the evening was still juicy and tender, even after re-heating. While not the best I’ve ever had, it is satisfying and priced reasonably for the quality and amount of food you get. Being a steam table type of restaurant, you have to be on the lookout for food that has been sitting around. You can tell because it looks dried out. Try to go during peak lunch and dinner hours and you should have no problems.

Food’s not bad at all. Just HELLLLLLLA flies. It was brutal. Also, the lady I saw on the grill was drinking a milkshake while she was grilling up pork and put her cup down right next to the grill. Which I’m pretty sure is a health violation. I really want to see this place to succeed but the owner/operators prolly doesn’t have a Serve-safe certificate. I’m just sayin.

There’s a brand new supermarket in the area. Filipino and Pacific Islander supermarket to be more direct. I was so excited when I saw it open on grand opening day. The supermarket isn’t as big as I thought it was, but Philhouse is a restaurant within the supermarket. The restaurant is like a cafeteria style restaurant. It’s located as soon as you walk through the door. Has a lot of good seating for everyone, probably not for massive parties or anything unless you want to take over several tables of yourselves – but that’s kind of selfish. Anyways, when you are ordering the food, you have to stand in line with the rest of the individuals ordering in line! A bit ridiculous if you ask me especially if someone in front of you is ordering a whole bunch of food. The girls that put my plate together didn’t do a very good job. They gave me all the fatty pieces and didn’t even give me that much. For $ 7 a plate with 2 sides, they were really skippy on the actual amount they gave me. Kind of ridiculous. Then when I get to the register, people who were behind me were getting their orders before me. Isn’t everything in sequential order? Then I realize they completely forget about my plate. –_– How rude. No compensation for it either. Smh, wasted my time. The food wasn’t even enough to give a thorough review. That’s how bad it was. How disappointing. I give 2 stars for what I got, and 1 star for customer service. Maybe I’ll come back in a few months and hopefully it gets better.
