Alves & Martinez Physical Therapy & Athletic Performance

I had knee surgery 7 months from a bad fall and I barely could walk when I started going to Martinez and Alves the best physical therapy I have ever had. My therapist was Jeff Alves he was so wonderful and caring about my knee and my condition. I really liked that he would give me exercises show me how to do them properly and I could login to their website to make sure I was doing them right. Jeff also helped and encouraged me to eat healthier and exercises which I could do to better my health and my well being. I thank Jeff and all his staff

This review is two months overdue!
While training for the CIM (California International Marathon 12.7.14) five days before the race, I suddenly strained a calf muscle – bad timing!
My own methods did not improve my situation, so three days before the 26.2 mile run, I sought out the services of Jeff Alves.
He asked many questions to narrow down the acute area of pain, tried several diagnostics to determine a course of recovery and then applied the appropriate treatments to get me on my way. He followed up with a test message the night before the race and then the day of – something I did not expect.
Race day came and I had no problem with the calf (although I did come down with a case of overly tight hamstrings… my own doing).

I have been with John Frasseto an experienced therapist for over 15 years. John is one of the best therapist in town, and unfortunately I have heard that he recently suffered an eye injury. The owner Jeff Alves is a very competent replacement… There receptionist Christina is the best at deaing with tough workers compensation problems… After all my years in dealing with physical therapist, I would put this guys near the top of the heap…

I have been going to Alves and Martinez for almost 10 years now. I have reoccurring problems with my back, shoulder and knees. Jeff works with my schedule as best he can. He is more than knowledgable about how the body works and the correct way to begin/​sustain the healing process. The staff is very helpful and will assist in whichever way they can.

Not only is there customer service the worst! I was overcharged and had to call them to have them send me the money back that they had overcharged me. I can honestly say I don’t even think they would’ve given me the money back had I not called them. Why would you want to go to somebody that operates on that low of a level! Absolutely disgusting. Do yourself a favor and do not ever go there!

I’ve been bringing both of my sons to Billy Matinez for the past year. Both boys play competitive basketball and Billy has helped them over come injury and has put them on a great strenghtening exercise program! I’ve seen increased strength and agility with both my boys. Customer service is great and the follow up just as good! I recommend Billy to all!

Billy Martinez is an experienced physical therapist who is knowledgeable of the workers compensation system in California.

My friend from Australia was in town for a wedding and needed a physical therapist FAST to deal with a re-​injury. Fortunately, his own therapist sent him an email which described the kind of treatment he had gotten back home, and fortunately, my dad had recently been to Billy Martinez and recommended him.
My Aussie friend raved about the place. An attractive physical location, a helpful staff, quick and effective treatment (he felt soooo much better!), and it only cost him $ 50!

Was perfectly happy to give this place a try but they did all they could to deter me from showing up. They were both incompetent and rude. I’m quite cost conscious and since my insurance only covers 60% of the cost, I asked this place for an estimate of how much I would have to pay out of pocket. Each time that I’ve made this request with other PT providers before, the provider has always given me an exact quote or a very good estimate. Even when these other providers tell me they won’t know what treatment they will prescribe in advance, they have been able to tell me at least how much they will charge my insurance for the initial evaluation.
Unfortunately, this place can’t seem to handle something so simple. The owner and the office manager gave me two different rates for people who’d pay in cash, not for people who have insurance. Then they told me to call my insurance company myself with their billing code. When I informed them that every other PT provider (and in fact every healthcare provider) I’ve used has called my insurance company on my behalf, this place told me to go somewhere else.
Up until that point, I was still willing to give them a shot, but the owner of this place very successfully chased my business away. He got all high and mighty and told me that he’s a therapist and can’t be bothered with mundane details about cost. Well, if he’s providing PT for free, then perhaps I wouldn’t be concerned about such details either, but since he’s running a business and charging people, then he needs to provide the same basic service and courtesy that other PT providers do. If he himself can’t handle it, then hire a business manager who can.
So I took the owner’s advice and am going somewhere else. This place is not the only PT provider in town, though it certainly acts like it is. The owner is a business moron. You shouldn’t waste your time here.

I do not personally recommend this PT on my first call to speak with one of the therapist’s Jeff. I explained my needs for rehab and was rudely told that he would not honor treatments that a doctor had referred but would do his best to rehab his patients HIS WAY. Given the fact the location was close I still considered to give it a try. During the several visits my condition actually became worse, and told to go find another therapist he wasn’t the right one. I wished I had followed my prior instincts and never had showed up and save my $$ and insurance payments.
