Antonia Mourelatos, OD

Well, since I found Dr. Mourelatos on Unilocal I figured it was only fair that I write a review!
Overall, my wife and I are very happy. Some of the things we appreciated:
— Dr. Mourelatos refused to let us leave with any question unanswered!
— She was very thorough — even though a very nice and capable intern ran us through a bunch of tests, she did them again herself
— Very friendly «bedside manner» («chairside manner»?)
— My wife is on an uncommon medication and Dr. Mourelatos was sure to make sure she had a special test done («visual fields»?) to ensure there were no eye-​related complications/​problems with said medication
— Her staff was very attentive and friendly when we were shopping for eyewear post-​appointment
I deducted a star for the following reasons (I wish it could only be a half star):
— We arrived well in advance of our appointment time but had to wait a half-​hour past our appointment time
— The selection of eyewear isn’t as broad as a LensCrafters-​type operation
For the first point, that would normally be a 2-​star deduction in itself, but after it became clear that Dr. Mourelatos was focused on answering any/​all questions and being 100% thorough in her exams, I can see how her appointments might run late. Plus, she acknowledged that we had to wait and apologized.
For the second point, an office of this size probably can’t carry as much of a selection as a big chain. Even then it is a drawback, and I imagine the quality of the eyewear/​lenses will be superiour versus the «factories» you see in the malls.
Anyways, I would gladly recommend Dr. Mourelatos to any Unilocalers who have lots of questions and want a thorough exam! We’ll definitely be going back when it’s time for our annual check-​ups.

Dr. Mourelatos is fantastic at what she does. She puts in the extra effort that is required to do an outstanding job. I have been to other eye doctors and while their service was adequate, I never felt that they went the extra mile.
I do feel that about Dr. Mourelatos. She has a nice personality, is talkative and is dedicated to her profession.

«Fabulous» is a word that gets tossed about a lot these days, but Dr. Mourelatos truly is fabulous. I saw her a few times at LensCrafters in Downers Grove a few years ago, and I just caught up with her at Lossman Eye Care. She’s funny and friendly and genuinely cares about her patients. I appreciate how she takes the time to explain exactly what she’s doing and why, and she gives me options instead of talking down to me. She’s thorough, insightful, and reassuring, which is a combination I’ve rarely found in another health care professional. Lossman takes a ton of insurance plans, so if you can, I highly recommend seeking out Dr. Mourelatos — she’s well worth the trip to Elk Grove Village.
