Okay, so yesterday my family and I had a terrible experience with KFC in Radcliff. Tonight we decided, gluttons for punishment that we are, to go to Popeye’s in Elizabethtown. This used to be a favorite of ours and they did not disappoint, what difference between Popeye’s and KFC, like night and day. Food was hot, fresh, not greasy or fatty. Chicken pieces were of normal proportion, not pigeon-like as they were at KFC. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and obviously know what they are doing as evidenced by the most important thing, the food. Quick shout out to the manager on duty, sorry I do not recall your name. Folks in the Fort Knox/Radcliff area, I know dealing with traffic on 31W can be a pain. But please take the extra 15 minutes and go to Popeye’s in Elizabethtown, compared to KFC in Radcliff you will not be disappointed. Your wallet and digestive system will thank you.

Very good chicken — lightly breaded and crispy. I had the spicy chicken tenders 5 piece combo, which had 7 pieces of chicken in the meal. Also had the Dirty Rice– which was good but a small portion. Biscuit was very good– slightly sweet flavor with a touch of salt. Wife stated that they tasted like her grandmother used to make. I am sure that I will be back at some time in the future.

I wish I knew the woman on the Popeye commercial… She would be appalled at the horrible attitudes serving up «Her famous Louisiana fried chicken» … drive thru is the absolute worse. Geesh. I wish there were others in the area. Ughhhhh! Ugly, and for no apparent reason.

I went there for the first time on Good Friday, mainly because I would be visiting family in Fort Knox and this location was the most convenient. Despite being very busy, I was quickly waited on. The clerk’s English was iffy, despite her being very polite, and I was about to get concerned about my orders — especially as I had two separate ones, but her supervisor was on it right away, assisting her and then double-checking the order with me.(I’m thinking now that the clerk was also a new hire as they also helped her with the register system). My orders were up in good time despite them being swamped, and most importantly were correct, which is crucial, especially when a business is rushed. They even remembered to ask what condiments I’d need, as well as napkins, etc. On arriving at my destination, the food was either still properly hot or cold, and well packaged; I liked that the manager had packed(and told me in advance) that the spicy pieces were on one level in the box, and the mild were in another, making it simple to sort at dinner time. The food itself was on the mark! The chicken had a nice crispy coating; was juicy and plump; not overcooked; the spicy had that Cajun kick without being overpowering, and mild doesn’t mean bland. The red beans and rice, spicy rice and mashed potatoes/gravy hit the spot. If I’m going to be in the Fort Knox area again and I’m in the mood for Popeyes, this will definitely be the location for me!

Great tasting chicken and the red beans and rice is also recommended.
