We live right down the street from Folklore and go there all the time. We usually get the tea, smoothies, and sandwiches — all very good quality. It is a great place for kids — they even have a little play area with books and toys. There aren’t many restaurants in E-town but this is one we like a lot.

Great café! Lovely relaxed atmosphere, delicious food, and fabulous drinks:) Recommend to drink: Sleepy Hollow, or anything with their homemade chai or caramel. Recommend for food: the Dawn(+bacon), the Johnny Appleseed on honey walnut bread, and top vegetarian choice the Athena salad(feta, bell peppers, avocado, walnuts).

Great place to grab tea or coffee. The food items I’ve tried have been pretty good. Parking is reasonable and it has a nice atmosphere.

Their Nutella hot chocolate is so Yummy! Also, their ice tea and other coffees are just as delicious too! I’ve tried many of their sandwiches and they are fresh and flavorful. Soups are sometimes good. Music played is always relaxing. You can take the food outside when it’s nice out; which is a big plus!

This is EXACTLY the kind of indie coffee shop I have searched for throughout my academic career! Big, comfortable, funky, good music, friendly staff, excellent pulled espresso drinks, and fast wifi. I have a new caff’d home away from home!

I was so excited to find a local coffee shop! Boy was I disappointed. We waited in a huge long line(at least 10mins) just to order our drinks and breakfast on a Saturday morning. I expect a bit of a wait on a weekend morning, but come on. I really wanted to like this place. I’d rather support small business, but Starbucks runs a much better game. Their food and drinks are better and they are also faster. Add a few more staff members and focus on offering more breakfast options. Maybe that will be a big enough improvement!

Nice spot for a coffee or cuppa. Absolutely a college kid hang out spot. It’s a good place to walk to in Elizabethtown on Market street. It is a bit difficult finding parking during peak hours since you only have the Market Street to park on with parking meters. It’s a nice little gem and has a great vibe of mystical fantasy!

My family and I came up to E-town to visit my sister at the college for her homecoming. She took us to folklore café for lunch and it was great! Very spacious, the colors and furniture were very tasteful, and the overall atmosphere was just super chill. Okay first the names for the food and drinks are all character names from stories and I think it’s just such a creative idea. My sister got the London Fog(a tea based drink in a sea of foam with a hint of vanilla and lavender) which was delicious I got the Café Caramel, which was also fabulous. We played Jenga while we waited for our food(they have a large selection of games and books to entertain yourself with) I’m so excited to go back again! The food was fresh and delicious. A nice selection.

I’ve been here several times and I really want to like it, but ultimately it’s always a less than ideal experience. It’s a decent location and has a nice hip coffee house vibe when you enter. But the service is really spotty, and if you’re rushed at all, skip it, because you’re going to wait — for a while. Some of this could be overlooked if the coffee was great. But it’s not. It’s weak, bland and poorly made. In the end, I really want to like Folklore, but the coffee is just bad. Get better coffee and I’ll overlook the bad service…

Folklore is exactly what Elizabethtown needed and it sure hits the spot! I love this little coffee spot whether I’m meeting a friend for lunch, grabbing lattes to go, or spending some time to do homework. The prices for a cup of coffee can be a tad steep, but I have enjoyed every item I have gotten from a regular coffee, Mocha Latte, or some of their spiced tea beverages! If you are planning on doing homeworker here or using a laptop, outlets as well as tables are few and far between. People do camp put the good spots!

I went for the first time on a date here and the ambience was great. Mostly students since it’s near elizabethtown college but it didn’t stop me from enjoying the place. The staff was nice and friendly. They weren’t snippy or short with me being my first time and figuring out what to order. The food was delicious. I would definitely recommend this café for my friends.

Ahhh … soooo many mixed feelings about this one. Not sure where the star-rating is going to end-up until the end. I was in Elizabethtown(fondly known by locals as E-Town) this past weekend(12⁄12) for a get-together with a colleague. This place is located off a corner of what I presume to be the ‘main-drag’ in Elizabethtown. At 9AM on a Saturday, the parking situation was pretty decent as there was a free/public lot about a block or two away. Food: Well, I suppose I should label this category ‘Drink’ because I opted to go with just a beverage for a few reasons; but we will get to that later. I ordered a hot chocolate, with whip cream. This was one of the best hot chocolates I have had in a very long time. It didn’t have a weird, artificial aftertaste; it had a smooth, clean consistency; and it had a rich, but not overly-sweet flavor. Really, the perfect hot chocolate for me — and, since I am not a coffee-drinker, I drink a lot of hot chocolates when I chill with peeps at coffee shops. Hot Chocolate: 5⁄5 Service: This was severely lacking; but not(necessarily) in a rude or unprofessional way. Let me explain. When I arrived, there were two parties in front of me, yet it took them 9 minutes to get to me, then another 5 minutes for me to get my drink. Almost 15 minutes for a transaction that I firmly believe should have been resolved in 6 — 8(being generous). I understand, this may be a cute, sleepy town that maybe operates a little slower than those coming with a larger-city-mentality; but the excessive wait was not warranted. They had plenty of staff to support the customer volume, as I have seen Starbucks operate with less staff yet still crank drinks out in a timely manner with much higher guest volume. In addition to the unwarranted and excessively slow service is the way they call out your order when it is ready. There was one extra-loud-mouthed chick yelling out the orders when they came-up; but instead of using a first name for the order, order number, or some other brief indicator; she yelled-out the whole order. Now, I don’t care if people know what I am ordering; but it was just obnoxious — especially for an order that featured multiple items. One order she yelled out for 20 seconds because it was comprised of multiple items. A simple order number or name would fix that issue. It just appears unprofessional, and is kind of annoying to hear every time an order is up. Service: 2⁄5 Atmosphere: This is a cool spot to stop and grab a drink or a bite to eat. May even be a cool spot to come and sled with the sloped floor(haha). Honestly though, there were a ton of outlets along the walls, some pretty cool seating areas to chill out, and plenty of other seating options for just yourself, or if you brought a few friends along. All things considered, I really liked the vibe in here. Unfortunately, I really like more intimate spaces where there is less of a crowd. This place gets busy right around 915AM(on a Saturday) and this persisted ’til when I left at 12. The line can get as long as 12 – 15 people deep, and given their snail-pace at cranking-out orders, the whole place gets a little stuffy(with people) pretty quickly. Overall, if they expedited their orders in a more efficient manner, and controlled the crowd better with faster more expedient service, it would seem a lot less chaotic in here. Atmosphere: 3⁄5(4 — 1 for the lack of efficiency and expediency contributing to an unnecessarily chaotic atmosphere) Price: For what I paid, I feel like I definitely got my money’s worth. For what I paid though, I could not justify paying any more — despite how good it was. As such, this is right in line with what I would expect for the quality. Price: 3⁄5 Final Thoughts: It seems to me like Folklore could use a little help with their general workflow and expediting of orders. There are some pretty rudimentary things that are holding it back from operating like a well-oiled-machine. For me, if I am going to wake-up early and go somewhere to sit down and enjoy a coffee /hot chocolate(in my case), I want the environment to be peaceful, serene, and calm. This was anything but.

Well, it’s cute — but in this case, cute doesn’t cut it… not when you have to wait in line for 20 to 30 minutes(no joke) and then wait another 10 to 15 minutes for your food. No options beyond standing and waiting for your order for that amount of time. I got here at 9:30am on a Saturday and upon seeing the line(which wasn’t even that long — I mean, long, but not thaaaaaat long — maybe 10 people or so) barely move in 20 minutes of watching, I decided to skip it and go hungry and just keep working. When the line looked like it was just 4 people long magically and out of the blue, I took that as my opportunity to order. Still, with just three people ahead of me, it took 10 minutes to get to me. RIDIC. I ordered a hot tea solely because I knew I could get that quickly(or rather prayed I could because it was just hot water and a tea bag) and said forget the breakfast sandwich. The place itself is adorable, even with its oddly slanted floor. But the snail-paced service(including one barista who was on the phone while making a latte complaining about how long the outgoing message was for the person she was calling was) makes this spot a solid 2-stars… and that’s being generous. In a nutshell, style over substance.

Favorite coffee shop around the area. It doesn’t get much better than this!!! Lattes and coffee are on point, as well as all of their food. My favorite is their baked oatmeal or breakfast bagel sandwiches!

When I moved into Elizabethtown, I was SO excited find a cute coffee shop. I brought 6 bags of coffee from my hometown fully expecting to find nothing but shifty coffee(See my review for Flowers in the Attic… Err… Garden), but was pleasantly surprised by Folklore. I’ve eaten lunch here a few times, and save one time where I got stale bread, I’ve been pretty impressed. It’s a great little spot and E-town is lucky to have a hip place to go. AND, parking is only $ 0.10 /hour!

This is one of the few off-campus study spots for Elizabethtown College students. The coffee shop has a hipster vibe and offers food similar to Panera– soups and salads. Musicians will frequently perform at the coffee shop for free, which can be a nice change of pace. High top tables are located near the windows which provide a great study spot. Outlets are far and few between so if you have a computer, make sure your park yourself near a wall. The first time I visited Folklore it took me awhile to connect to the internet as I could not figure out the password. All you have to do is simply ask of the workers and they will kindly give it to you.
