By far my favorite diner. I am a regular here and either eat in or order out at least once a week. They are generous with their portions and some dishes can easily be shared. The staff is always nice and you feel super welcomed once you walk in. It can get crowded sometimes but usually not more than a ten minute wait. I love the breakfast here as well as the wraps and paninis. I can never leave without getting some rice pudding as a dessert. Highly recommend for anyone who has never been, you’ll be hooked.

I have never been disappointed here. Whether ordering breakfast, lunch or dinner, this place is a go-to. Everything is done well. Awesome chicken and fresh Salmon. Beyond the delicious main dishes, they make great salads, soups, and desserts. The coconut custard pie is a must.

This diner is pretty much the SPOT every local in the area knows. The food is typical dinner food but over the years the menu has expanded to included more cultural dishes(Colombian, Cuban, Dominican) that correspond to most of the population in Elizabeth. Either way the food is really good. Can never really go wrong with Tropicana’s.

I was not a fan of the breakfast service we received. Maybe 9 am was too early or maybe the young lady was new. I had the steak breakfast with eggs and grits. It came with toasted buttered bread which i believe was the best bread ever. I could have just had the stwak and toast. The rest i could do without.

Recently tried this spot and I HIGHLY recommend the French dip panini — it was fresh, definitely filling, and priced extremely affordably. Our waitress was really awesome too. Tons of seating, big open space, and they are pretty much always open. If you’re in the area check this place out. They have a ton of variety in their menu. Next time I’m trying a burger!

The Tropicana Diner has the best food in the area. My wife and I love the place. Our favorite waitress was«Carmen». When ever she saw me, she had two Pepsi ready. The BERGERS&PATTYMELTS are our favorites. If you want great food and service this is the place for you.

Will start by saying this is one of the best diners around me I come here often with family and friends and my boyfriend the service is mediocre sometimes you either get a hit or miss but overall the food is great the front desk can also be a hit or miss as well sometimes they make you wait just to take your money but you can live with that. Overall this diner is well put together yes it does need a lot of work to be perfect but is a good 24 hour diner another Diner I really love is liberty diner yes it’s not as great but the service is equal. So far I am enjoying tropicana it’s in a nice place family oriented. Good place to eat !

When you eat here, you forget that you’re in a diner. The presentation of the entrees are like a 5 star restaurant! Chicken Murphy — delicious! Veal Saltimbocca — wowwww! Huevos Rancheros with Cajun Ham Hash — what a breakfast! Moussaka — look out! Veal a la Vodka — mmmmm! What isn’t good here? Arturo, Dino and Benjamin — the friendliest waiters ever!!!

I’m being generous with the rating. The food is average at best. Note that this place gets really busy around lunch time, specifically around 11am to 1230pm on the weekends. Eggs Florentine($ 9.95): Nice presentation but that’s pretty much it. Now, I love spinach but there wasn’t a single dash of salt whatsoever on the food. It was really under-seasoned. I did not get any tomatoes with my spinach, either. My English muffins were chewy and a bit difficult to slice – maybe that was because my knife was a bit dull, but still – it was chewy. The hollandaise sauce was alright. As for the home fries, no thanks! It, too, was under-seasoned and a little too burnt to my liking. You could get a fruit cup if you prefer that instead of fries. California Burger($ 8.30): First of all, I have no clue how in the world this is considered a «California Burger.» It doesn’t even have avocados or guacamole. Instead, there’s a long 1 inch thick slice of cucumber and sliced bell peppers – freaking BELLPEPPERS – in the burger. Seriously? We don’t even put cucumbers or bell peppers in veggie burgers. The fries were okay. The meat was tender and grilled perfectly(medium well), but didn’t blow me away. Still, it was probably the better item. Service alone is probably a 2⁄5. The waitress for my table was nice when she took our order but she pulled a Houdini and pretty much vanished during the rest of my lunch here. We couldn’t even get a refill for our drinks. I know it was busy, but she could have at least stopped by and check on us even once. I haven’t ordered this yet, but the«Colombianita» is probably the best thing to order. I believe it’s $ 12.95. It’s basically a sampler of Colombian food with a seasoned grilled skirt steak, eggs, a cheese arepa, rice, and beans among other items. If I do come back here, I’d probably order this. It’s on the same separate blue menu as my Eggs Florentine.

In my quest to find to try all NJ diners, I found Tropicana not far from my house. My server, Monica, was immensely helpful in maneuvering the entire book of a menu with me. What do you want, breakfast, lunch sandwiches, dinner plates big enough to eat from for days, Spanish food? She also let me know this spot is open 24 hours. I went with a Hawaiian chicken sandwich and disco fries, a diner creation consisting of french fries covered in gravy and a delicious melted cheese of your choosing. To satisfy my sweet side, a S’mores cappuccino drizzled in chocolate syrup and decorated with graham crackers. Nothing to complain about, server was friendly as could be, table was clean and I definitely know where I’m going to end a drunk night at

I come here 2 – 3 times a year because its convenient. They have a nice menu with different options including your typical diner food and some classics with a twist. I typically usually get their grilled chicken wrap with fresh mozzarella and roasted red peppers. The place is nice and clean and the staff is very attentive. The hostess when you enter is very energetic and personable.

Second time here, it’s a 3 star Jersey diner with a Latin flair. The service has been consistently good, even during the weekend breakfast rush. The diner itself looks renovated and it’s kept very clean. The coffee is good, mild, very drinkable. We have tried the Latin inspired breakfasts, all made well and tasted yummy. Today I had the grits(still never the same as in the South) eggs and bacon and a waffle, all prepared well. Prices are par with other diners in the area. So come and check them out for a little something different in a diner!

Excellent local diner that skillfully mixes Spanish, Greek and Italian styles. Specials are always great, the potato crusted salmon was one of the best fish dishes I have ever had. Prices are good, service is professional, place is clean. IMHO one of the top NJ diners.

This is always my first choice when I want something quick and delicious. Every one that I have taken there, including my kids, enjoys the food. The last 2 things I ordered were the Red Snapper and the Prime Rib. both amazing. Mashed potatoes a little on the salty side but other than that, AWESOME. Can’t give them 5 stars because the older woman at the register is forever with her resting b***h face. Smile, it doesn’t hurt.

Your average diner, people rave about this place but I’ve been to better diners. Don’t go expecting«better than most» because that’s what I went in and was disappointed. Food isn’t bad though, it’s just your typical diner food.

New Jersey may have the most diners per capita but 80% of them are horrible. I have too say, Tropicana is one of the best. The food is good and the staff is extremely attentive. I’m a dock worker and I pull alot of overnighte shifts and there are not a lot of quality food options in the Elizabeth area that are open 24 hours like the Tropicana is. The portions are very generous and the prices are inexpensive. The Tropicana is very accommodating to large or small party’s. They have three rooms with plenty of booth and table seating. Their parking lot is very spacious and located around back.
