Algarve Barbeque

To me, this is the best Portuguese BBQ in Elizabeth –price-​for-​pound-​for-​flavor. What does that mean? For what you pay, what you get, and how it tastes; Algarve’s the best. However, note that my experiences are only through the take-​out. The chicken’s usually moist, the ribs tender, and the pork just absolutely delicious and amazing.
Try it out and judge for yourself. This is my go-​to whenever I’m starving, in need of feeding 4 – 5 people for under $ 20 and not compromising one bit on flavor.

The food is great only if you go and pick the food up. Do not order and asked them to deliver it. Two hour wait poor customer service.

The last time I ordered from this place it took 4 hrs to get our food. They were using a new driver. Apparently he couldn’t find our location so he took the food back. He never even called the cell number provided. Then today my office placed an order for ribs well done and when the ribs arrived, they were very very under cooked with pinkish juice coming from them. We contacted the location and the Manager informed me that she could send a driver to retrieve the order, bring it back to the store, cook it longer then bring it back. The company I work for spends a lot of money with this location for company events, holidays, birthdays etc. Plus employees order from here daily. I told them to cancel the order and after waiting an hour the driver arrived. He had no idea how to do a refund on the card machine so he asked if he could take our credit cards back to the store, then bring them back. Absolutely not!!!

First time trying this place, and all I can say is Yumm!!! I had the grilled salmon, was cooked to perfection. Only drawback is that it contains bones so be weary of that. The dish usually comes with rice and French fries, but I substituted for steamed veggies with no issue. I heard their garlic veggies are great, so I will try that next time. I also ordered a whole BBQ chicken for later, and boy did I get more than I asked for. The portion size is plenty for a day or two of left overs. The price is great for the amount of food you receive as well. All I want to know is what they season their food with, I need that in my personal kitchen when I can’t make it here to eat. I would definitely recommend this place and come back again. Good stuff, my tummy was happy!

Got the ½ combo checked and ribs with rice and fries. 10 bucks and lots of food. Be sure to ask for extra hot sauce because the rice is not very flavorful. I thought the chicken was pretty good but the ribs were kind of dried out. As I mentioned it’s lots of food and I’ll probably do it again but I don’t like it quite as much as El Agave.

I like their ribs and pork chops. I like that they have beef ribs. I prefer them over pork. All their meals come with rice and french fries. So a pretty big portion and not too expensive. Took off a star for extremely long delivery time. Expect to wait atleast an hour for delivery.

Sorry but I have to drop a star because I’ve never gotten any utensil with my deliveries. Ordered soup and chicken but how am I gonna eat my soup without spoon? No hot sauce this time because I forgot to ask. Got to wrong chicken cuz I forgot to say BBQ chicken so this time I received chicken breasts instead. Chicken breasts are so dry and bland. I guess it’s good for diet but I need my hot sauce and fork and knife. Well, back to Stone Age, I’m using my fingers to eat. Lol

Great food, located in the corner of north Abe, I always get rib chicken rice combo, delicious, mmmmmmmhhh, just thinking about it makes me hungry. Lol

Great place for take out. Dining room was closed for some reason. Be hungry!

I’ve been in love with this place since the late Nineties… The Food is awesome, the wait staff is polite and engaging. I love the shrimps in garlic sauce, paella, grilled crablegs, and of course the combos of ½ chicken, rice, and fries or the ½ pork ribs, rice and steamed veggies in lieu of French Fries. The Tiramisu is OUT of this world.

This is a place I always make sure to go back to everytime I am in the area. I have been a fan for about 5 years and always feel happy to spend my money here! Prices are reasonable. I think I have eaten everything on the menu, and would recommend it all!

Not sure why all the fan fare. Average at best and can be expensive for the quality.

BBQ was good. Had the chicken and pork ribs, it was good but I think the one in ironbound on Green St. is better. And the price is better too.
Had it for the second time, this time i had the pork ribs togo… the ribs was a little chewy…

Love this place! Can’t get enough of their family style portions of bbq chicken/​ribs/​grilled salmon with a nice sized amount of rice and french fries. When I visit family it’s a given that we will order or pick-​up food. Plus did I mention they are easy on the wallet? It’s incredible how great the chicken deal is!
But just so you know this isn’t a sit down type restaurant. Your best bet is to pickup food to go. They are one or two tables.
