Nice family owned place. Low prices, full bar but kinda smelled like old chicken grease.

With the weather as hot as it was yesterday, we decide that bowling in the afternoon was just the ticket!
We originally were planning to go to Liberty lanes in Carpentersville but my sister and brother-​in-​law found this alley on their way to meet us for lunch at Elgin Public House just a little further into downtown Elgin.
We called the alley while at lunch and found their pricing was only $ 2.50 per game until 5pm. Score! Liberty lanes was $ 3.50 per game and this place was just up the road from where we had lunch.
So after stopping at Rediscover Records, we made our way through the one-​way streets that make up downtown Elgin and pulled into a fairly empty lot.
First impression of this place was excellent. It’s clean! The staff friendly. And the price is right!
We pre-​paid for our games so we only set it up for 2 games but you can always add more games, as they informed us.
I stopped in the restroom before we started to play and as old as the building is, the restroom was more clean than I would have expected at a bowling alley! Well done, Bowlway!
We played a few games, I broke 100 on both my games and we had a good time. We didn’t partake in the food or liquid beverages but I did see they made a few cocktails for a couple that arrived shortly before we left.
We chatted with the owner about fall leagues and learned they have men’s only leagues that play twice a week, mixed leagues that play once a month or weekly and I believe they said they had some other options as well. I only asked about pricing for the mixed league that plays once a month and that was $ 14 pp. Not too bad. Give them a call to find out more details!
All in all, this made for a great stop to spend some time with our family on a hot afternoon and it didn’t cost a lot of money! I was more than satisfied when we left… I’m pretty sure that my two scores of 100+ points may have also helped!
