Last Saturday afternoon we stopped by following a day of touring historic barns in Northeast Iowa, courtesy of the Iowa Barn Foundation. We sat up at the little fountain bar and just had ice cream, which was rich and delicious, but the main attraction was the two young people working at the counter. They were extremely friendly and willing to chat about their town, their high school, their interests, and their plans for the future. Our visit, and their friendly chatter really made for an enjoyable ending to a pleasant day in your neck of the woods.

Sorry but I have to take a star off for my most recent visit. Why, oh why did I order the daily special grilled chicken sandwich. I should know better. This was not just dry, it was sawdust. Unbelievable that they could serve this. Stick to a burger or find something else. Fortunately I had lettuce and tomato and mayo on it and plenty of iced tea. Wow!
