Good food and nice/attentive service. Went here for a late lunch on the way out to hit Farmer’s Markets… I had the Reuben… very filling, actually took half home… my beau had the Haddock Dinner and his mum had the Haddock sandwich… all very good and filing. Very down home/quaint restaurant, not much to the décor, but the food taste good… in my humble opinion — a win!!!

For years we have gone to mac’s then one time we went and one time we went my 6yr old at the time only wanted salad. In the pass we were always charged for a kids meal, but this time the waitress said no she’s never done that maybe not her but several have I explained specially for the amount eaten? She just did care to even ask for us or anything. So we stopped going due to in consistent prices. But then I had family come from out of town knowing the had great food and good portioning I though we will give it a whirl again 2yrs later very good everything was great! But then we go back 2 weeks later exactly for dinner the chicken strips were dry rubbery thin small and the breading well there wasn’t any. They just throw raw strips in the fryer and the portion sizes were cut by almost half. We asked the waitress about the chicken she said they had new breading. She explained I hope enough ppl complain and bring back the old chicken strips mmm? Weird because then when went to the owner to complain about the awful strips and how I wish they had breading on them still she explains to me what in the world do I mean b/c they do we haven’t changed they way we don our strips since we have had them??? We Also had fries, Mac n cheese, fish, Cajun steak, ny strip which in all was pretty good other than the steak could had been little less fatty. We recently tried again I am a optimist they will get it b/c they were great once and maybe they just have a bad group of ppl right now But this time we walk in the cashier just stands there after about 30 seconds goes j just takes off as if they where very busy. Mind u only about 4 tables taken out of what 25 so I think not very busy really. So anyway no one greets us my husband says excuse me should we just seat our selves no b/c someone will seat u, yes the sign does state this info for us they are supposed to but really??? Just rude to have someone come in to your place of business and just stand there and say absolutely nothing even the owner who may have not known I will give her that but these other may have not been waitress or hostess but really? which I understand she was not. BUT this time The food was awesome and back to old size portions we once remembered so all in all not to bad once the food came out!!! Others come in behind us get seated and menus drinks utensils which we still have none at this point. The sever come and takes our drink order with out us having even a menu to know what they sever really? and she don’t seem to understand why we keep asking what kind of drinks do they have and the best part is when she came to take our still with nothing and we had to explain could we have a menu so we can order bad day I guess I would love to be able to go back, I don’t mind paying the same and get little less to have great food still. BUT they are inconsistent and when i get more then one different explanation about the same issue all in one night ad pricing everyone is not on the same page really they need to have a meeting get everyone one the same page what is expected far as the amount of food, how it made and the cost because this is JUSTBAD Business too bad because they do have great food when you can get it

No stars here! Asked for eggs over hard, basically got poorly cooked and seasoned eggs. I don’t know about you bacon lovers but I like mine soft or rubbery. It was so crispy it just flaked apart on my dish. Sausage wad over cooked along with my blackened toast. Wifes home fries were under cooked. Her waffle was the only thing that looked appetizing. The only thing worse than that was a waitress that breaks a fifty and doesn’t give any change for a tip. Would think that would be the first thing they figure out! Wouldn’t recommend.

After a very early morning drive(4:30AM early if you’re interested) from PA to the Syracuse, NY region, I was in desperate need of coffee, food and a warm place to relax. When I’m on the road, McDonald’s is generally fine and I eagerly sought one. I passed through Syracuse and decided to find the next McDonald’s which should be just around the next bend. Heading west away from Syracuse brought me through beautiful snow covered country scenery with a diminishing population and increasingly dismal hopes of getting my road fix of McDonald’s. I knew I had to eat somewhere very soon so, I stopped at the only place in town, Mac’s Family Restaurant. I have never been to this town before and knew nothing of Mac’s. I pulled in the lot, slipped slided my way from my car and into Mac’s. I was directed to a booth and offered coffee before I could even sit down. That’s worth an extra star in my book ! They have a compact breakfast menu with variations on eggs, pancakes, waffles, french toast, omelets, biscuits with sausage gravy, hot and cold cereal and side dishes. The cheese omelet was not a bad deal for $ 4.59 with home fries and wheat toast. Coffee was additional and sadly, on the weak side. This was a fast and easy omelet, not a Julia Child style purist omelet. Large flavorful fresh potatoes made the home fries very enjoyable. They were not overly embellished with onions, peppers or any other distraction. This was all about the potatoes. The real surprise was the quality of the bread they used for the toast. The wheat bread had a real flavor that distinguished itself from white bread. It was buttered but not oozing with excess butter. Quite nice. As I lingered, my coffee cup never had a chance to become empty. Nice service with good attention while not being obsequious. I had the chance to notice the customers around me and those who arrived and departed during my meal. Inevitably, in this small town environment at the only breakfast joint in town, it seemed everyone knew someone else. I was just waiting for the next person who entered the restaurant to be greeted with a rousing shout of «Norm !! «by all the customers. Nope, didn’t happen. Stop in, relax, enjoy some breakfast and see a community gathering place where people still know and talk to each other !
