This place faaaar exceeded my expectations! I was expecting a minimal and unhealthy selection of snack foods, and I was delighted to find Kombucha, organic chocolates, great beer and wine selection, yummy healthy crackers, fresh fruit, cheeses, fresh sandwiches, ETC! Only a little pricey, but for its location and it being one of the only places to get goods, the prices could be much worse. The woman there was very nice, and our hike was improved by our yummy lunch that we were able to purchase and bring :) They even had avocados! Hurray!

Thanks to this amazing market it put our trip to Yosemite over the top. We bought delicious sandwiches, snack, alcohol(a bit pricey but to be expected when your in the middle of nowhere) and other goodies. This market made our experience at our hotel even better then it already was because we had everything we needed.

The breakfast sandwiches are great(biscuit, cheese, egg and bacon), it’s also a very convenient way to get half and half when you run low.

The deli section offers a great alternative to the blah food offered at the large motel restaurants in town. In addition to a variety of sandwiches(ham, turkey, roast beef), there are freshly made brie, chef, & chicken pasta. salads in clear plastic containers for take-out. We enjoyed a chilled artichoke with mustard/mayonnaise and found the chef and chicken pasta salads flavorful and nicely prepared. A hot potato soup was available and what looked to be homemade chocolate chip cookies. You can eat outside where there are a few tables and chairs or have a picnic in the park.

Be sure to stop here on the way to Yosemite for last minute food supplies or on your way out for an ice cream. If they don’t have what you need there, the super friendly staff will be able to tell you where you can find it. When our group walked in, we needed to find an ATM and I had accidentally left my hiking clothes at home. They were able to direct us to the places that could solve both of our problems. This place also has a great mix of groceries, fresh sandwiches, organic vegetables. Definitely a good stop.

If you’re staying anywhere in El Portal, this is a great place for picking up groceries and any supplies you may need for Yosemite. It’s a rather small market, with shelves crammed with supplies, but comes with fresh sandwiches, fruit, drinks, ICECREAM, and camping supplies that may have been forgotten. All of the workers were extremely nice and helpful with any questions we had; I even offered to buy one of the cashiers an ice cream but was turned down(auwww). Right next store is a gas station, which’ll be about 60 cents more expensive than any other gas station outside the area, and has okay but not very clean bathrooms.
