With El Paso’s growth to the east and west, one can sometimes overlook where it started, back in the central part of town and the landmark family restaurants that have survived and thrived for decades. Su Casa is easily on my list of favorites. Step into a time warp that’s at least the 1960s, by the look of the décor. And don’t expect dinner here, they close at 3pm so its a breakfast and lunch destination. The service is prompt, nervously efficient and likely not well versed in English, although with a smile and a slow attempt at what I need, always accommodating. You are in a border time warp after all, so go with the flow. There are some curious Syrian dishes on the menu that deserve exploration, the owners are the grandchildren of part of a large wave of Arab Christian immigrants that settled in El Paso in the period after the fall of the Ottoman Empire and have left an indelible mark on the melting pot of the city. However for the first time guest, go with a Mexican combination plate of your choice and you will never be disappointed. With nearby L&J Café undergoing a massive resurgence in hipness, the always there comfort and welcomness of Su Casa remains as it always has… a true classic that needs to be on your Top 5 list of El Paso institutions.

Excellent food and environment! It’s Mexican food with a hint of Syrian, which makes it quite unique. A family owned and run establishment, so you may enter a stranger but certainly leave as a good friend or even family. This is a little out of the way, depending on where you are coming from, but it’s worth the effort. At intersection of Yandell and Willow. Thanks Tony!

You can’t beat the quality and prices here. This is a lunch spot and it’s always packed, yet you’ll always get a table promptly. Hot, fresh, and prepared just like you want it. They also have Mediterranean food!

Centrally located on Yandell just east of downtown, Su Casa is conveniently located and easy to get to no matter where you’re coming from. This popular lunch hang out is popular with all types. The food bear some resemblance to Leos in my opinion, which isn’t a bad thing. The food is always served hot and the menu is diverse with traditional Mexican plates. I have felt for a long time that Su Casa is one of El Paso’s finest and most consistent restaurants.

Was in El Paso this past April, visiting a friend, and she took me to Su-Casa for lunch one day. The food was great and I have to say, their tortilla soup was the best I’ve ever had, hands down! With all the Mexican restaurants in this city, I highly recommend anyone to give Su-Casa a try before all others.

This gringo’s been to over 100 Mexican restaurants here in my hometown of El Paso, Tx. ‘Su Casa’ makes my top 5 easily. I’ve had everything on the menu twice but I keep coming back to the Cheese & bean nachos. PERFECTION!
