Went there yesterday to get some meat to make carne asada on our camping trip. I asked this woman what she recommended and right away away she gave me an attitude. There were no other customers and she acted like I was taking away her time. I asked her if the cut she recommended were small because I have a small grill. She said she didn’t know. She proceeded to scoop up some real big pieces, I asked her if she could cut them and she said no. Every meat market I’ve gone to usually has no problem doing this. Ranch is usually over priced and not as fresh but people go there because its one stop convenience. Management needs to address these issues, its not the first time stuff like this happens.

The moment I entered I was taken back to my mother land. The set up, the way the cashier and the«local bank» and little stands of jewelry by the entrance. A Must eat: Tacos de picadillos with rice and beans A must drink: Coconut water– de agua frescas. Its the actual white«masa» and water liquefied together. Horchata: Rice water and cinnamon Postre/dessert: Ensalada de manzana y pera Crema de fresas Don’t buy: Yucca — native to my country. They were all spoiled. You can find: A lot of Mexican and South American food and seasonings.

From the moment this fine mega-store-eatery-multibusiness opened its doors several years ago, I walk through and have thoroughly enjoyed being transported back in time, to when my wife & I lived in Medellin, Colombia. The sights, sounds, and especially the smells are utterly from another culture/continent. The fresh BBQ chicken is the best, only improved if I was back in The City of Eternal Spring, strolling uphill to equally-well roasted pollo! However, for my 57th birthday, I decided to give my body a different direction and began a vegetarian diet. So far, so good. Eager to experiment – it is MY body, right?! – I was told about carne de soya, available here. After a pretty thorough search, I asked, always a tough thing for us males to do. And was I ever so glad; it looks a bit like corn flakes in a bulk container. Very inexpensive and a nice addition/filler to almost anything, though I’ve been told there is a way to effectively rehydrate it. I kind of like the soft crunchy-ness it gives my salads, tomato juice, oatmeal, etc. What is not really a surprise is how quickly and decently I was treated by the personnel. What’s more, Saturday & Sunday am is a special festive eating time there. I love it, and shall return!

Horrible market. Dirty, spoiled food, flies all over the pastries, bollio breads and donuts. Shitty slow service.

Basically if you made Chuck E. Cheese’s for adults, and also made it Mexican, that’s Pro’s Ranch. LOVEIT.

If you live in a town that you think has good Mexican markets, and then you come to this one, YOUWILLCRY. Because this place is an awesome circus of Mexican everything. I have never seen anything that compares anywhere else that I’ve lived. Not only do they seem to be presenting you with every possible option — prepared food! bakery! whole calf heads! candy! and that is just the beginning — they present it in a way that feels welcoming. The store is clean and smells good, too, despite having big open bins of fresh fish for sale. If I lived in El Paso I would be here every week doing my shopping. If you visit El Paso you should definitely stop in here and take in the awesomeness(and a plate of delicious food or two).

Pro’s Ranch Market is a very complete grocery store, but where it really shines is at selling all sorts of Mexican goodies(deli, candy, drinks, etc). The bakery is also quite terrific, I like their Tres Leches cake and their flan-based concoctions. The only drawbacks to this location is that it is always packed, and that’s not so bad, except that the neighborhood ain’t that great. Unfortunately my sister had her purse stolen from her shopping cart, so, keep an eye out!

Great variety, awesome layout, amazing prices and excellent sales. This is what I thought El Paso would be like!

They have amazing homemade flour and corn tortillas, salsas, and tostadas. Best place in town for purchasing Mexican foods, but they are limited to that for the most part.

Wow, what an amazing market! It’s the closest you’ll get to an authentic Mexican mercado. They have an unbelievably broad selection of meat, produce, and every other Mexican food product you can imagine, with the added benefit of a built in sit down eating area, serving hot meals(caldo, carnitas, breakfast, etc), an aguas frescas bar, a bakery, a fully working tortilleria, and chicharones all made fresh while you wait! The mariachi music blasting through the speakers just adds to the atmosphere, and all in all you can’t go wrong making the trek out to Zaragosa to shop here. (It looks like they’re opening up another of these a little closer to town, on the site of a former Mervyn’s store, off 1 – 10, still on the east side). This has become a must-visit location every time I come to El Paso.

My parents have been gushing about«El Rancho» since this place opened. I hear about this place I’d say at least once a week. Since we were in town visiting, I decided to check it out. They’re lucky enough to live less than five minutes away. I went specifically for a cake and had a hard time choosing one. There were sooooo many to choose from. We decided on a super decadent looking chocolate cake with fresh strawberries on top. We were pleasantly surprised that it was strawberry crème filled as well. Yummmmmm. We also got some elotes(roasted corn on the cob), gelatin deserts and about 75 million different types of tortillas. There is a little dining area where you could come have lunch.(drooling thinking about brisket burritos) According to my parents, there is often live music here often. This wasn’t the case when I was there. The only drawback was the crowd. It seemed like they were giving things away rather than selling them. I hear it’s ALWAYS crowded like this. After what I saw, though, I can understand why.

Pro’s Ranch Market started in California many moons ago and they now have 9 locations. Lucky for me, their newest location is in El Paso… a nice 40 minute drive for me. It’s super packed with anxious crowds right now since it opened it’s doors only a couple weeks ago. It’s worth maneuvering around the aisles in the large crowds for the quality and variety of foods they sell. They cater to the Hispanic community and they are a full service grocery store. Their baked goods are to die for! Try their tres leches chocolate cake… it melts in your mouth. They have many items that they make themselves like their candy covered nuts or condiments like crema along with any other regular store items you may need. If you’re in no rush, I would recommend waiting until the hype dies down a little or go at an odd time during the work week to avoid the crowds. Either way, the selection is worth the trip.
