As I travel extensively, my apparel sees quite a bit of use, particularly my travel shorts. I thoroughly enjoy these rugged, button & deep pocketed, lined, safari-​style shorts, and will wear them continuously before washing them. In fact, I am so enamored with this shorts that I had neglected to button the pocket and my wallet was snatched from within between stations 2 & 3 on the Istanbul metro 27JUL201, my handicapped 84-​year old mother (whom I was escorting on an overseas odyssey) and I had already completed 95% of our journey which we continued using her credit cards. Fortunately, Lisa & Harry, themselves World travelers from Newcastle, NSW, Australia, recognized my distress and gave us two tokens for us to continue our movement to the Sultan Hostel, where we overnighted before flying fantastic Turkish Air the next day back to HoustonTX-​USA. I was mildly upset at myself for being so complacent, and, really, the whole matter was more an inconvenience and I actually felt sorry for the thief because our previous 7 weeks was filled with nothing but the finest of humanity while visiting Europe, China, Tibet & Nepal. (There were a few other incidences of individuals not respecting my mother, but that is another story.)
Anyway, I regard these travel shorts as the BEST, but the elastic in the liner had come out and needed replacing. I just happened to be close to this particular shop and thought it worthwhile to just ask. Sure enough, Lety assured me she could take care of this and informed me to drop by after the weekend (Monday) after 5 to pick them up.
Perfect! I was pedaling my Doublevision to work that day, and it wasn’t too distant for me to make a grand vuelta before the Sun went down. When I entered her shop, I noticed a young man wearing his Alicia Chacon International School shirt, one of the fine schools in my Ysleta Independent School District. We struck up a conversation, which included both his parents. In fact, they were able to take a pix astride my Doublevision. As a longtime bicycle educator, it delighted me to make this contact once again. My delight was exponentially magnified with the newly sewn shorts; Lety is extremely talented and can help anyone with any kind of sewing need!
