Judging by their Unilocal reputation, I had very high expectations going into my up-do appointment at Dry. I came in prepared with a cornucopia of Pinterest photos for the stylist, and without any hesitation she said she could pull off the side-pinned loose curl/messy style I was looking for. She started by curling the hell out of my hair, applying a TON of hairspray along the way(which is to be expected when curling fine/straight hair, only I hadn’t asked for tight curls). I asked her maybe 10 – 15 mins into the procedure whether she planned to keep the curls so tight, and she assured me that she would«tease» them so they wouldn’t look so perfect and Shirley Temple-ish. I had confidence that she knew what she was doing, so I allowed this to continue. Much to my horror, she didn’t do much else with it. I did tell her I wasn’t happy with the results, so she went ahead and pulled up the curls into a side bun, but I still ended up with little curly q bangs. Without enough time to have her start over again, I left with it as-is and paid the $ 60, just hoping that I might be able to loosen it up on my own. That didn’t happen, probably because of the excessive product. But I couldn’t bring myself to go to my event in that state, so I went home, washed it out, and did a quick blow dry on my own. What a waste of $$!!!

I love this place… people who say it’s expensive have no idea. I was in San Francisco and found a dry bar similar to this named Bloom. The blow dry there costed $ 45. I am thankful for the $ 25 here.

Enjoyed my visit at the blow dry bar today. Taylor did an awesome job, she is magnificent! I received a conditioning nourishment treatment and blow dry. I love the location and inside décor. Great place to go with a friend.

I get weekly blow-outs at the Dry Bar, so I think I’m qualified to speak on this subject. This place blows(no pun intended) — classic«if I could give 0 stars, I would». I’d be surprised if the stylist even took a cosmetology class, much less passed it. I specifically asked for a cool water rinse at the end of the wash and condition on the ends only — she proceeded to begin washing my hair with ice cold water(had to remind her«at the end» and then remind her again when she didn’t do it) and my hair was so greasy she either coated the whole thing in conditioner or the product she kept spraying in my hair every 10 seconds. When she was done with the wash, she put a towel on top of my head and said I could sit up and I thought, «that’s odd, I don’t remember her squeezing the water out», and that’s because she hadn’t — when I sat up, it felt like a bucket of water ran down my back and under my dress. I did that polite, «oh!» and moved the towel down to catch some water, trying to give her a hint — nope, she just told me I could go back to her station. Then the«style» — I don’t always get the same stylist when I go to Dry Bar, so I just show them a picture of MY hair that a different stylist did. So there’s no reason they shouldn’t be able to duplicate the style — I’m not looking at a picture of a model with different hair type, length, cut, etc. — it’s a picture of MY freaking hair from week before. I’ve even learned the terms, which I repeated to her — «round brush curl, natural bend, lots of movement and volume» I even joke about«big Texas hair» — I don’t want it straight and smooth. I asked for mousse all over and a little root lift spray at the roots. She begins drying it and I’m noticing that every time she takes another section, she’s spraying it with something at the roots. I assumed it was a non-aerosol mousse. When she *finally* made it all the way around my head(it took wayyyy too long, another sign she didn’t know what she was doing) and turned me around… it was completely straight. And flat. I couldn’t hide my frustration — I pointed to the picture on my iphone which I had left open so she could refer to it as she was styling my hair, and said, «I’m sorry, how is *this* even close to *that*? She said, «well, I can curl it if you want, that’s why I’m showing it to you». Uhm, did you not catch the«round brush curl», «volume», etc. part? At this point it is what it is, so I said, «sure, go ahead and add some curl». But then I notice part of the reason it’s so flat is because it is *greasy*, which is the tell-tell sign of conditioner at the scalp and/or too much product. My hair is never greasy — I can go a week between blow-outs. The more she curls, the worse it’s getting — until she finally calls out to another stylist, «can you come help me?» — then hands her the curling wand and just walks off. Uhm, what the h*ll? She asks me, «so you just want some more curl?» And I say«no, I wanted *this* picture, but now I’m just trying to salvage the style». This one seems to know what she’s doing, but she’s only having marginally better luck because my hair is just so weighed down and greasy. She finally says, «I don’t know why your hair isn’t curling — maybe your hair just can’t hold a curl». THAT was the last straw — I laid into her that my hair can hold a curl for a week with nothing more than a round brush, and this was about the pure incompetence of the stylist. She immediately apologized and offered to completely re-wash and style my hair, but at this point I’d already been there over 90 minutes(should have taken 45 – 50, tops) and was late for an appointment. So, she sprayed some dry shampoo at the roots and tried to curl it a little more for good measure. Kudos to her for telling the receptionist not to charge me — I’m sure that’s because people were already starting to listen to my experience and she didn’t want that to continue if I had to pay. net/net — go to Walmart and get your hair done, it will be a better experience.

Sweet girls. Blo out was ok. A little flat, but that’s probably because of the deep conditioner. Wasn’t blown away, but it sure beats doing it yourself. I really liked the woman that did my hair though, very friendly.

In EL Paso for only a few days to attended a friends daughters sweet 16. My girl friend wanted her hair done so we Unilocaled a few business and surprise surprise LOOKWHATWEFOUND. An awesome place where every man should take there wife or girl friend. Upon arrival, the friendly and professional staff greeted her and instantly catered to her satisfaction. I was amazed at how quickly she was attended to. She was handed a nice portion of wine and she was off for an adventure with her stylist. The shop is super hip with a touch of laid back atmosphere. Overall super happy and satisfied with the service that was provided for my girl. Fantastic good.

Little pricy for product but the services are priced well. Rachel was great. She added in highlights, true test is when she does a touch up so we will see. The place is a blow dry/style shop but the manager does cut and color. Though she doesn’t work weekends. Def will go back

Love it! Initially tried this salon with a groupon and I’ve already been back and plan on returning often. Both times I’ve seen Estefania and she has done amazing hair styles! The first was a bigger than Texas do followed by silky and luscious curls. They provide you with delicious wine and fabulous customer service, which I have found to be rare in this city. Glad to have found such a great business to take care of my crazy, curly hair.
