Went thru the drive-thru and my car load got everything from a mushroom and swiss to a pork tenderloin basket. We finished off with a milk shake and a peanut buster parfait. Being 30 mins before closing the food was cooked to order and was hot and fresh. Very good for fastfood! Btw… try the tenderloin sandwich its bigger than you would think. This is a good well managed Dairy Queen.

Sunday afternoon around 3:00pm. One person working the driver thru, one person working the counter. Maybe some people in the back. who knows. But there were 19(I counted them!) cars in line and a line out the door inside. I turned and left. There’s two registers there… only one in use on a Sunday afternoon in July? That’s crazy.

Everyone knows Dairy Queen and their legendary soft serve ice cream. This particular Dairy Queen sits about ¼ mile off of interstate 39 and right on US24. They have remodeled this DQ twice in the last 5 years, with the most recent remodel in late 2011. It is Very Clean and well designed. Staff is always very friendly and food is most always hot and promptly brought to your table. I mention the service for a couple reasons, mostly that no matter how bad the service or interaction with waitstaff is at restaurants… most all problems can be forgiven with a fresh hot delicious meal. And one thing that is very good at DQ is the Onion Rings, but ONLY if they are fresh. No one wants cold greasy onion rings, but pull ‘em right out of the oil and served hot… fantastic! The owners here seem to make sure not to disappoint. And thats how you get repeat business. One item of note. they have a new fountain soda machine that is really slick. Instead of the ice being stored above the fountain like in 99% of restaurants… the ice is stored underneath and is somehow carried up to the top and dispensed out. Not super exciting… and probably will see more of these in the future. But I liked it. Overall one of the nicer/cleaner DQ’s you will visit. Plus is a nice change up from Subway/McDonalds that are on every corner.

Had lunch here on Tuesday afternoon. El Paso is out in the middle of nowhere — right off Interstate 39 North, or at least it seemed the middle of nowhere to me — very rural — all agricultural lands as far as the eye can see — and I had no cell service here from AT&T. The ladies working the counter in Dairy Queen were super nice and friendly. I ordered the Chili Cheese Dog combo — which comes with fries and a soft drink. Dog was excellent, I added some mustard. Fries were fresh, hot, and crisp — perfect. Diet Coke was icy and refreshing.
