Altar’d State is a good addition to the world of boutiques here in El Paso. It’s one of the bigger boutiques in the area and one of the few that are nationally known. There’s only about 30AS currently opened so El Paso is very lucky to be one of the few cities chosen. One thing I want to point out, for a clothing boutique AS carries a lot of small home décor items. I’m mixed on this, with clothes and shoes and rings and necklaces and watches, adding home décor and other random items kind of makes the store feel like it’s doing too much. It’s not a big deal though and the other items are nice too so I can let it pass. This is a women’s boutique so as you can imagine, women’s clothing only. Now I’m getting to the nitty-gritty as to why only a 3 star rating: the prices. With a much larger buying capacity and the ability to move products much quicker than a small locally owned boutique, I just expect unbeatable prices. But AS prices are just the same or more than what I would pay from an online retailer with shipping. The only section that was actually reasonably priced was the sale items. The one thing that separates AS from other boutiques is the fact that it’s a Christian boutique. I didn’t find a large amount of Christian related products, but there is a prayer book by the dressing rooms. A very cute idea. Overall I like the store and have been able to find a couple of cute pieces here.
